WHAT!!! OF THE SCALE!!! Gotta go get me full hamzat gear with air tight facemask. Am out!! Re: u spent 8 years learning outmoded practices and proceedures so what? I raised pertinent issues which all simply translate into this - our "Nigerian trained" doctors are incompetent and unproffesional and most skipped ethics class in school. And all you could come up with is you were trained for 8 years so you must be the boss Tell me, how do you compare with your American colleagues who went to medical school for 5years? Will you also b the boss of such a contemporary in the same setting given your 8year training? LMFAO also if you must know, medicine aint that hard to gain admission to study here, i once did but ignorantly turned it down(not a school of my choosing) and my "ignorance" was GOD blessing me in disguise or i would have ended up like you . . INCOMPETENT!! Also, am a fellow of both the Nigerian and American Optometry Associations meaning, i also went through 8 years of training too. How mediocre a Nigerian am i now? 1 Like |

BraniacX:Are you alright? Stop spewing rubbish. You are obviously oblivious of how Medicine work. Medicine is highly regulated all over the world. Medical students all over the world do basically the same courses, with few peculiarities from country to country. Ordinarily, I wouldn't have replied you. I don't post much on nairaland because of time issue but your lies were so infuriating that it overcame my reluctance to reply and I decided to use the time I was supposed to use to read in replying. I'm telling you this in case you reply my post, it might take many days before I see it and I might not have time to reply. Braniac X, you are a very clinical liar. Hun, hun, you can lie ooo. Nigerian trained doctors pass foreign medical exams so well that in the U.S and U.K for example, Nigerian trained medical doctors form the bulk of foreign doctors working in these countries. I'm not just talking unfounded rumours. I'm talking about published facts and figures. In fact, there was one published some time ago comparing the performance of Doctors from different countries in USMLE. I saved it but unfortunately, I'm not typing with my system I would have attached it. In fact, recently, President Goodluck was decrying the situation. Saying that Nigerian doctors are so many in other countries while we don't have enough doctors at home. Doctors leave Nigeria in droves every year to greener pasture (Better working condition, better facilities, better remuneration and the health workers overthere are contented with doing their work. No unhealthy rivalry with doctors). There is a paucity of doctors in Nigeria yet we can't attract foreign doctors like U.S, U.K, CANADA, NEWZEALAND, AUSTRALIA do. Few weeks ago, David Cameron was saying they need more foreign doctors because U.K is not training enough doctors locally and guess where they will get these doctors from, mostly Nigeria and India. Nigeria & India forms the highest number of doctors from developing countries working in the U.S and U.K. Nigerian trained doctors pass the foreign medical licensing exams(USMLE, PLAB, MCEE, AMCE, NZREX e.t.c) very well. And after training in this harsh environment, when they get to these saner climes, they shine because conditions overthere are very encouraging (good working conditions, latest medical equipments, good doctor-patients ratio, good remuneration & better condition of service generally). The reason rich people travel outside the country is because the medical equipments, facilities and amenities in our hospitals are in a sorry state. Many things that are suppose to help diagnosis and treatment are not in place. The facilities are inadequate and outdated. I think I should stop here, I have much things to tell you but time is of essence, I need to get back to reading. 6 Likes |

elobyobi: That's because they can't make good their threat. It's a fight dead on arrival. Personally, I'll advise them not to even think about it. They obviously can't pull the littlest of traction with their strike compared to the collapse witnessed few months ago with the NMA. One group withdrew her indispensable skills while the other group simply locks up equipments and closes the hospital gate. The truth is that the doctors' "sack" will be child's play compared to what the dictator government will do to 'em. |

pachuete: boo hoo hoo! See me cry! Hahahahahahahaha! Somebody should pls give him a cupcake for being so correctly alimentary. What cool stuff? Is it misdiagnosing a patient? Bungling patient care leading to death? Forgetting swabs and surgical blades in a patients body cavity? Is it being obviously inept and confused when confronted with rare conditions and sometimes even trauma cases? Is it stitching someone up so badly that you create lumps, fault lines, ridges and what not on their bodies? No dude! I don't wanna be you, am happy with who i am and also, your advice was uhm........totally uneccesary, i know where to do my schooling should i ever want to be a medic. Also Dude, i'll gladly defer authority anytime anyday to an American/European trained Nigerian Ophthamologist, they know and are "cool" @ their stuff and respect is mutual between me and them, they know am the primary eyecare provider and their patients(pathologic) come to them through me by way of referal but as for your Nigerian trained eye gougers a.k.a ophthamologists, hmmm, . . . . . . .what can i say? their records speak for themselves besides, they are easy to identify among foreign trained ophthamologists in a hospital setting, u know, the typical pride, arrogance, disrespect amongsts other stuff, bottomline, if you know your onions, you wouldnt have to throw your weight around like your NMA contemporaries, u wouldn't have to engage in a pissing contest with other hospital staff like your NMA contemporaries because everyone around you will recognize you for who and what you are - the primus inter pares, so the doctors who engage in what is it? aha! the pissing contest only show themselves for what they are - well educated incompetents. Anyway, show your faith in them, if you must, if you have a family member, friend or acquaintance in need of say, a trabeculectomy or basic cataract extraction e.t.c, take him/her to one of your Nigerian trained ophthamologist, i dare you to, and we'll see how gratefull they'll be to you. Now that you have established that am not a JOHESUITE and have nothing at stake here, you can take some advice from me, try and discipline yourself and be a pride to your proffession by concentrating primarily on patient care, re-educating yourself ethically and equiping yourself with more information/knowledge than is available to you @ your pathetic med school then maybe one day, you'll be worth knowing and earn my respect and if and when that day comes, whenever you hear NMA or JOHESU call for a strike, you'll just sigh and say "NOT AGAIN!". 1 Like |

Truth is that NMA leaders are scared of holding a one-on-one session with FG and JOHESU concerning the illegalities they have brought on our health institutions. They cannot hold their own when it comes to discussions and even in court. All the doctors here saying crap should really get enlightened: http://dailyindependentnig.com/2014/09/ensure-peace-health-sector-faniran/ |

BraniacX:So optometry in Nigeria uses standard curriculum Abi. You have failed to understand that medical students in Nigeria use mostly latest edition of foreign medical books and some good books written in Nigeria. You are just bitter because you went for optometry after missing out on medicine. With the hope that you will be allowed to treat patients not knowing the ophthalmologists who are the consultants that specialized for eye care after their MBBS are there to save Nigerians from quacks. And yes you are with JOHESU, probably jobless at the moment. You should use this opportunity to read up and get enlightened cos your ignorance is amazing. 2 Likes |

Kcinho: I'm not here to brag, post your curriculum and I'll post mine, then we'll compare with what was obtainable 20 years ago and what is obtainable now internationally, and I'll try my best but i can't promise not to exchange insults with a witless worm and oaf like you whose greatest achievement in life would be a prefix and the estacode that is supposed to accrue you but not the responsibility that follows the said prefix afterall, am only human. The day Nigerians wise up to their rights and start sueing your fat stagnant and backward asses for every expensive error and blunder you commit, your prefix which incompetents like you boast about will turn to ash in your mouths then we'll know who the jobless one is, you or me 1 Like |

BraniacX:The above is a definition of bitterness. I'm sorry the reality hit after you got in. Your type can't be schooled. Maybe that was the reason you couldn't get into med. school. You should be proud of what you ended up with instead of hauling insults and bringing up lies just to get a little satisfaction. Ophthalmology is here to stay and there is Nothing you can do about it. I'll advice you relax and assist them when necessary. 1 Like |
