Nigeria Super Falcons have qualified for next year’s FIFA World Cup after they dumped South Africa 2-1 in Wednesday’s AWC semi-final in Namibia.
The top three teams from this tournament will represent Africa at next year’s Women’s World Cup in Canada.
Nigeria will now await the winners of the other semi-final between Cameroon and Cote d’Ivoire to determine Africa’s best women’s team for 2014.
It was a sweet revenge for the Falcons, who fell 1-0 at the same stage of the competition two years ago in Equatorial Guinea.
Asisat Oshoala grabbed a first- half brace in the 38thand 45thminutes to give Nigeria the lead.
The MVP of the recent FIFA U20 World Cup in Canada has now scored three goals at this AWC.
