Facts You Should Know About Buhari by AnanseK(m): 1:20pm On Oct 23, 2014
I didn’t write these facts about Gen. Buhari but I am pointing to the facts because of my generation and generations behind. Also millions of Nigerians who are below the age of 30 and slightly above 30 that constitutes a significant chunk of our voting population.

My generation never had privilege to know much about the era of Gen. Buhari.

This is ICT generation that is largely ignorant about the event of Buhari era. These generation(s) can be misled by needless propaganda or misinformed about the Buhari era (1984-1985).

Before being Military Head of State, Buhari had been Governor of one of the Northern States (under Obasanjo’s Military Government) as well as Minister for petroleum. The later served as chairman of PTF under Abacha.

PLEASE CONSIDER THE FOLLOWING UNASSAILABLE FACTS.

He birthed and supervised the established of our existing refineries.
There was no religious crisis while he was Head of State. It started under his successor IBB!
In his time as Head of State he reduced inflation from 23% to 4%, by fiscal discipline and a home grown economic team (not achieved under any other era, even military).
J.J Rawlings of Ghana took over 2 years before him and killed all the corrupt leaders, while Buhari, only sentenced the corrupt leaders here (Nigeria) to prison.
Under his watch as PTF chairman, what he did in road construction in that short period hasn’t been matched by almost 15 years of the PDP rule in Nigeria.
Hospitals, universities and secondary schools around the country never witnessed as much benefits as they got from the PTF from any government after or before the time of Gen. Buhari.
Despite serving in senior capacity in the oil sector, first as minister for petroleum and this petroleum Trust fund, Gen. Buhari has no Gas station, not to talk of an oil rig, refinery or an oil block like so many of our leaders today.
Instead of hobnobbing with the high and mighty he has cast his lot with the ordinary man most of who follow him out of hope and belief in his values.
People who know him have said of him.

“All I need from Buhari is his word, I can take it to the bank.

He is the only politician in the country today who fills rallies without renting crowd or sharing money and food stuff to the public.
The Kaduna rally of 2nd March is eloquent proof !

Buhari refused to collect an allowance while serving as Chairman of the PTF because he said” since he was already drawing a pension from government, his conscience would not allow him to draw another salary from the purse of the same government.”
He is the only former head of state that does not own a property or land in Abuja even abroad.
Every attempt to rubbish him through probes in time past end up vindicating him!
The man who was asked by OBJ to take over the running of PTF before if was scrapped with aim of probing and indicating Buhari, was the one who ended in being prosecuted for misappropriating $100M of PTF funds Buhari regime was vindicated.
Buhari has openly challenged those who accuse him of religious fundamentalism to come out and show proof. No one has come out till today, taken up the challenge. His personal driver of many years is a Christian from Plateau State.

His government initiated the war against indiscipline that made environment cleanliness queuing up, not urinating by the roadside etc. these are features of our national life even till today.

Buhari as a head of state was locally refining fuel in Nigeria and exporting 100,000 barrels of refined products per day. He never imported fuel. He never increased the pump price of fuel. The Naira had more value than the dollar. #1 was equivalent to $1.4. Buhari did not borrow a dime from any country. The price of fuel was very low. Buhari signed the contract for Warri Refinery, for Kaduna Refinery, for more than 20 depots all over the country, for laying of pipelines, more than 3200 kilometers and Nigeria did not borrow a kobo for those projects. The Agric industries were booming. Food was everywhere and affordable.

Gen. Buhari is a threat to our corrupt leaders because they know what he is capable of doing to corruption and corrupt people when he comes into office! We shouldn’t be surprised why corrupt people would be spreading heinous rumours about Buhari.

If truly we want honesty and probity for Nigeria now is the time to choose the right and credible people into the government of this Great Nation.

I am not campaigning for Gen. Buhari, I don’t know him but I was able to get these facts from history. Let’s all come together to vote credible leaders and save our future and the future of our children.

Let’s educate both the illiterate and elite of this country. Let us stop them from buying a lot of Nigerians (poor) with congos of rice, a thousand naira and provisions.

We need collective efforts to save our country, don’t let us fold our arm and keep watching our future deteriorate on a daily basis!
