What is this one saying? Was it not the same opposition that elect him when PDP actually sponsored Mulikat Adeola. If PDP think they have the number they should impeach him,opposition has been controlling the house since his election,that is why the current house has been able to perform well.Tambuwal is just a smart dude.

I had orginally ignore ur blind comment but for the sake of enlighthment am offering u this.
First of all, our political institution had been mess up through the change of party that didnt change thier ideology for the sake of contesting an election.
moreover, the section 47 will do you help if yuo can study it. it details the procedure for the appointment and impeachment of principal officers.
we should learn to be realitic while addressing national issue because we may be setting a precedent for future occurence which voilate the contitutional procedural.

What honesty are you asking for? Are you yourself being honest in your post? Mimiko decamped to PDP and is still the governor of Ondo state. What does the 1999 constitution says about that? Since you know the provisions. Serving senators in the senate, with leadership positions in the senate have also cross-carpeted in either direction. There haven't been calls for their resignation and or removal.

We see state house of assembly lawmakers defect or switch logos or allegiances everytime. Isn't there a provision in the law to strike them too?

You PDP perceived people are always looking to silence anyone who doesn't support you.

If the law allows for the speaker to be impeached for that reason, the same law should also impeach Mimiko, Amaechi, and all others

This is music to my ears! Like I mentioned elsewhere, this filthy animal called Tambuwal would be removed by any means necessary - legally or extra-legally. Since he resorted to the UNCONVENTIONAL action of becoming Speaker of Parliament as a member of the minority party, the majority party must also resort to unconventional means to boot him out! It's called politics.

Meanwhile, before any buffoon here refers to the Consitution, he must first tell us what it says about a member of the National Assembly defecting from his original party to another.

Well, I don't want to believe this news to be true. First we are in a democratic era. That is anybody can move to any political party (freedom of Association). Secondly, Tambuwa is the No. 4th person in leadership in Nigeria so he needs the security without any interferance from anybody. Therefore this news can never be true.

This doesn't stop Tambuwal from continue being the speaker of the house..

This is not the first time a legislator of Federal Republic of Nigeria will decamp from one party to another, nothing happened when Obanikoro decamped then from AD to PDP, recent decamp by Gov. Mimiko and his co travellers in Ondo house of Assembly into PDP was equally applauded by PDP sympathizers, why the beef because Tambuwal decamped. This shows that PDP under the leadership of President GEJ has exhausted all its strategy to dismantle the opposition to no avail. This is a clear show of impunity and highhandedness, it is now getting clearer what Jonathan government meant for this nation, but someone should tell him that if he cannot reform he should not destroy. - if the DISPARITY between the US minimum wage and the pay for political office holders is the same with Nigeria's N18,000 to N27 million for our legisLOOTERS

- if their presidential candidates take unsecured loan to buy their nomination form

Good move by the govt, Tambuwal lacks integrity and he's just greedy. Who was he? If not that OBJ was just pursuing Bankole for ego and wanted to ensure he didn't return as speaker thereby causing the seat to the north instead of SW or SE. If Tambuwal had guts he wouldn't ve adjourned sitting for over a month. To me that is not fair on the floor members who should ve the opportunity to ask questions on the floor of the house. There is no law that stipulates that the speaker must ve all those security details, so the govt can withdraw them. Since he's law abiding, he should go to the courts to reinstate them.

Shut that asss hole, tell Mr Tambuwal to resign honourably or be treated anyhow. Opposition party can never be the Speaker where the ruling party has the majority. He should be arrested as well for negligence of duty and overheating the polity.

The constitution did not say if he cross-carpeted, he has to resign from office as speaker. The constitution requires him to be impeached by 2/3 majority. simple.

I don't believe this story .... It can't be true ! .... Why would the details of NUMBER 4 citizen be removed afterall he has not yet ceased to be the Speaker , House of Representative by law !! ....

What does the Nigerian constitution say about defection in the national assembly?

Those making reference to Mimiko's defection are ignorant,as the Nigerian constitution subtly permits defection by Governors.

The Law makers that defected to APC still have a case in court and as such the PDP cannot declare their seats vacant until there is a court ruling.

BUT Tambuwal does not have any case in court challenging the possibility/outcome of his defection and so what the Federal government did was to apply the constitution to the latter. Tambuwal has defected from the PDP when there was no faction, division or crises rocking the party. This cannot not be said for other lawmakers that defected when the so-called New-PDP was formed.

Tambuwal has just ruined his political future. angry

You ignoramuses should stop peddling this Mimiko 'example' all over the place. Read up what the Constitution says about members of the National Assembly defecting from one party to another [Section 68(1)g] before you come here to say rubbish. The same provisions do not apply to governors - that's why the PDP did not ask the likes of Nyako, Amaechi, Kwankwaso, etc to resign when they decamped from the PDP to the APC.

Please tell us EXACTLY how the FG is poking its nose into legislative affairs

Meanwhile you may wish to note that the legislative arm is an INTEGRAL part of the FG, which also has the INDEPENDENT judiciary and executive as the two other SEPARATE arms.
