tit: It will affect PDP too. some APC house members also defected to PDP. That was why PDP was able to retain a majority in the house of reps after temporarily losing their majority when 37 PDP members defected to APC |

akinsadeez: It's a real cluster phuck for both the APC and PDP. Tambuwal did not act on the defections and the PDP did not take it up. Why? On the part of Tambuwal, he wanted to rubbish the law in order to benefit from it's in-application. PDP played it safe and negotiated for the defected members to return. At the end of the day, the PDP will sacrifice those seats rather than to have an APC led house. And since Tambuwal has other ambitions outside the National Assembly, you can bet that he will be the first to be sacrificed and his political career is already in the dustbin as the PDP will ensure he doesn't win the gubernatorial sit. |

chukwudi44: I know nobody was elected under APC. But after the merger of the parties, APC was officially recognized as a party and some of the APC members later defected to PDP. Is that also not a defection? 1 Like |

I see the APC Touts are avoiding this thread like a plague. |

tit:what you fail to realise is that most of the pdp house members are northerner and are also in support of the speaker. I think the speaker would survive a vote of confidence in the house because all APC members would vote for him and he will still have support from some northern pdp house members. You should remember when he got voted into office that he was not pdp choice for speaker. He won because APC and some northern PDP members like Farouk supported him. The speaker is 3 time house member and he must have done his homework before he decided to defect. He must have done a wide range of consultation among the house members. He knows he still have majority support from the house members. If you notice it that no house member has publicly call for him to resign. |

Raiders: They supported his candidature because they wanted a male muslim. As for the SW ACN members, they were instructed to vote Tambuwal in order to create a rift within the PDP and also for Asiwaju to maintain his political dominance in the SW |

MudRaker:I agree with you but what Im trying to say that he will survive a vote of confidence from the house of rep when they sit next month. PDP don't have influence on its house members like you think because from day 1 they have continue to vote against some of the party policy. |
Re: Can Tambuwal Be Impeached? by MudRaker: 6:38pm On Oct 30, 2014 |
Raiders: The Rep Members are Touts. Remember Mr. Integrity and the dollar stuffing? They feel they have not been compensated enough by Aso Rock. PDP will let them know to do the needful or that they will be willing to sacrifice them alongside Tambuwal by enacting section 68 (g) and conducting bye-elections for their sits. They will do what they are told to do this time around. |
Re: Can Tambuwal Be Impeached? by Raiders: 6:52pm On Oct 30, 2014 |
MudRaker:what bye-elections? Its too late for that because the general elections is just days away. I think Tambuwal knew what he was doing before deciding to defected. He is a very smart politician. He knows PDP only option to remove him is through the courts and it will take up to 3 months for the courts to decide by then his tenure as speaker will be over. I still see him remaining as speaker when the house sit next month. PDP should go to court to declare his sit vacant and let the courts interprets the constitution. This will be good for our democracy just like when Atiku 2007 court cases which stated a deputy can defect from his party. |

Tambuwal left his party, because APC control sokoto. And he will not be able to win Under PDP in sokoto. Because his people are oppose to the govt. He will not loss his seat as speaker. He was not elect speaker base on party. |

manck2: How does majority work in Nigerian politics? What does the electoral constition specifically say about the defection of an elected official?Nigerian electoral system seem to lack a lot of good and stern policies that keeps things in check, just like every other institutions in Nigeria. Is this how it works in america that we copy back to back? |

tit: Wishful thinking, Aminu still remain the speaker. If u love Jonathan, just advice him not to go dirty with this man at this time, time is is not in his favor. Let him focus his energy on what he has done within the last 6 years and what he intend to do if will give him 4 more yrs to earn our votes. |
Re: Can Tambuwal Be Impeached? by tit(f): 9:14pm On Oct 30, 2014 |
LFJ: Jonathan loses my vote is he does not deal, to the full extent of the law, with fools like tambuwal. I wonder which vote GEJ will value, yours or mine? And as he deals with his political enemies, he has to start dealing with national enemies like boko haram. He has to arrange their meeting with Allahu. |
