They is no tricle down effect in Nigerian development. What happens to poverty? What happend to unemployment? The GP rise should reflect on unemployment and poverty. 10 Likes |

eunisam:My friend with a 7.4% rise in GDP annually u dnt expect a massive Improvement in those areas you mentioned. Although paid jobs are getting more difficult to come by these days but people are now getting self employed, going into acting and entertainment and this also accounts for the rise in GDP. Remember the article says Nigeria is now second largest in d entertainment industry. 24 Likes 4 Shares |

Icon4s:alright. I hear. My point is the rise of GDP should reflect the core value of development. Which are 1.SUSTAINANCE: The ability to meet basic needs. 2.SELF ESTEEM:To be a person 3.FREEDOM FROM SERVITUDE:to be able to choose. Well just the way you said,it is slow.may be with time it will be rapid. 7 Likes |

True. The only reason why the GDP is still growing is because the insurgency is in the north- east, where they contribute very little to the nation economy. We all can still remember how the economy fared when there was unrest in the south-south. 6 Likes |

IS IT NOT THE NUMBERS DEY COOK UP, WE WILL SEE? IF CORRUPTION IS WIDESPREAD IN NIGERIA, AND WE KNOW! JUST THINK ABOUT THE BILLIONS THAT WOULD BE ADDED TO THE GDP IF CORRUPTION IS ELIMINATED! I LOOK FORWARD TO BETTER GOVERNANCE! for nairaland, rozzay can act in that capacity. MISS NAIRALAND www.nairaland.com/attachments/1825648_picsart1414749501915_jpeg5775933f17abf51d5329dbce16e359c8 |

Statistically yes,but real increase in terms of better welfare of the people,I doubt.. The increase could be as a result of contributions of selected few to the GDP,and not based on the general people's welfare. In economics,we call this abracadabra. 5 Likes |

Pessimism makes people to outrightly and quickly doubt, criticize or negate anytin dat looks like, smells like or sounds like good news about, from or in Nigeria. If d GDP is not rising, day will complain dat d economy is bad. If its rising, day will say its not affecting d man on d street dat its only felt by a few scumbags. So u guys actually want magic to happen to d economy abi? Na wa oh! 6 Likes 1 Share |
