2) 25% would break up via Facebook.

A June 2013 survey of 1,000 Facebook users, wherein 65% are male, discovered that 25% of them were dumped via Facebook. How? The significant other updated her relationship status into “single,” and that’s it. Their relationship is over.

Likewise, 21% of this population agreed that they’ll end a relationship by changing their status into “single,” when they feel that it’s the right time and nothing could be fixed anymore.

3) People on Facebook who are in a relationship are happier than single individuals.

In 2013, Facebook celebrated Valentine’s Day by comparing the relationship status of the users to their happiness. This was determined based on the updates of every user– singles, in a relationship, married, and in an open relationship.

The result, those who are in a relationship seem to be happier and satisfied than single people. On the other hand, those who are married or engaged are also happier than the rest. However, those who are in an “open relationship,” where the relationship isn’t really exclusive are less happy than the single individuals.

4) Most links shared on Facebook are about sex.

Almost 90% of Facebook links are related to sex. This only confirms that sex sells, and it’s prevalent even in the social networks. To support this, social media scientist, Dan Zarella, discovered that the links being shared on Facebook are often sexual in nature. He also discovered that this kind of links are more likely to be shared than other types of posts.

This study suggests that despite the fact that Facebook allows us to connect to everyone, it still has some limitations and boundaries.

On the other hand, about 65% of those who are surveyed believe that it’s wrong for a manager to befriend his employee. Though, 70% of respondents proclaimed that it’s completely normal to befriend an acquaintance on Facebook. Which suggests that we have different views about it. However, most of us truly respect those people who are more superior than them.

6) 80% of women are annoyed by their Facebook friends.

Most women on Facebook find their friends irritating. In a study conducted by Eversave, it has been discovered that 80% of women admitted that most of their Facebook friends annoy them; and the main reason for this is their rant updates (57%).

On the other hand 76% of the total population value their privacy.

9) 47% of people visit their ex’ page very often.

In a January study of YouTango, around 47% of respondents confessed that they visit their ex’s Facebook profile every time they feel the urge or whenever they miss them. This statistic revealed that, one of the dangers of social-networking sites, is that it allows people to stalk another person’s profile with ease. With that, a lot of Facebook users got the feeling that it’s not advisable to share everything on Facebook because of the threats it has.
10) Almost 35% of Facebook users who are under 35 years old, check their Facebook after sex.

An October 2010 study revealed that a lot of people are slowly becoming dependent to social-networking, that it becomes an important aspect of their lives– especially to teens. Also, those who are under 35 years old confessed that they do engage in texting, tweeting, and checking their Facebook page even after having sex. Likewise, some claimed that they can’t help themselves to check the updates on Facebook even when they’re driving. Lastly, a lot of people are guilty with the fact that they do visit their Facebook account even when they’re at work.

With that, we could conclude that the next generation is slowly becoming dependent on technology that it’s almost impossible to put them down, even during the most inappropriate situations.

Lastly, there are more than 800 million people actively using Facebook, and these surveys and facts give us a deeper understanding of our developing cultural norms, morals, values, and how we interact with one another. It doesn’t matter if it’s our level of tolerance for cursing or the link between bonding with friends and alcohol. Most of these Facebook studies definitely present an online insight about human behavior.
