Abia State Governor, Chief Theodore Orji, has won BusinessDay States’ Competitiveness and Good Governance Awards as the best performing Governor in education and youth empowerment in 2014.
The awards, which took place at the prestigious EKO Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, makes it the second time that the Abia State Governor will be wining the prestigious awards.
Recall that he was adjudged as the best performing Governor in the country in Security and Health at the maiden edition of the awards in 2013.
BusinessDay States’ Competitiveness and Good Governance Awards is highly competitive as States are allowed to make entries and the winner of any category is determined by assessors, who visit the States to verify the claims.
That Governor Orji won the prestigious awards, organized by BusinessDay, the foremost business media organization in Nigeria, will not come to Abians and friends of Abians by surprise, because of the commitment and zeal with which the Governor is piloting the affairs of the State.
Governor Orji at the inception of his second tenure in office vowed to uplift the standard of living of the people and the image of the State. Consequently, this quest to bring good life to the people spurs him to invest in sectors that impacts positively on the people and that include education and youth development.
The Governor Theodore Orji-led administration in Abia State, understands the importance of the youth in the economic development of the State, which prompted him to introduce the “Youth Empowerment Programme,” geared towards creating strong dependable youths with high morals.
The State Government has continued to deepen this laudable and innovative programme, which has drastically improved the lives of so many youths and families in the State.
Developing the education sector is top priority of the Governor Theodore Orji-led administration in Abia State and providing conducive environment for learning is a commitment his administration owes to every school age child in the State.
The essence is to provide equal opportunity to citizens of the State to excel and contribute to the economic development of the State.

Yes, Abia state education system has been transformed under the administration of T.A Orji. The building of model primary and secondary schools in all 17 LGAs and the newly built modern e-library is a sight to behold.

Well he tried with the e-library; though i'd like to know a bit more about it! Hopefully it's not just a glorified internet-cafe!

What exactly makes those schools 'model'? They always show pics of these classroom blocks and tell us they're model! Can we have a look inside, or is that too much to ask? A model school should have a architectural design that's a departure from the boring colonial ones the British built during their stay here! The schools being built by the Delta and Rivers gov'ts have a more up-to-date look about them! Also, a model school should have a playing field, library, sick-bay, modern refectory, clean toilets and bathrooms, a computer classroom or two, and common/games room.....it should have all this as standard! Do these 'model' Abia schools tick all or most of these boxes?

We should try and make learning an exciting, wonderful and painless experience for all our kids.....rich or poor! They deserve nothing less!

Abia is great when it comes to education

He won it means he won it but why did he deliberately neglect Aba? With the condition of videos and pictures I see emanating from Aba, nothing he does will ever be good enough. I will visit Aba to verify because reports are conflicting and most of the images being spread on social network have been in circulation since 2003.

When I told Yo-robber people that Ta orji beats any of their governor hands down in Education transformation, they think I am hyping a failure.




Ta orji is miles ahead of their fraudulent Governors like Ajimobi and the ousted ekiti governor but Yo-robber people are born to live on denial that's why they are hiding the rot going on in their backyard.



Ta orji only crime is the neglect he melted on Aba and environs.
