Hello house. Pls before I give a run down of d issue I wud like to post info abt d car. D car in question is a toyota camry 2003 model XLE. It has a 2AZ FE engine with 16 valve.
Now the issue.

I noticed that d upper radiator in my car was always very hot. I mean very very hot. So I decided to visist my radiator specialist and immediately he touched it, he also touched the lower radiator hose and lo and behold he said the thermostat is bad. He said dat its nt opening to allow coolant flow. He oopted to remove it and I agreed. Mean while one foolish mechanic had mistakingly removed the thermostat before sayin ''oga u no need am . Na for america dem need am''. So I collected the thermostat and wanted to be sure its still good. So I did the hot water test and it passed well. So d next daay I went anger to him and told him to fix the thermostat back which he did with disdain sayin oga u wan knock ur engine. Fast forward to tuesday dis week when my radiator guy removed it I did d hot water test and behold it FAIILED. Meanin it was stuck close.even when it managed to open it did dat slugglishly and only opened about half way. I had no option dan to remove it.

Now the dilemma.
Tha car now consumes a little more fuel especially in d morning when d engine is cold and when I switch on d AC becos d fan kicks in den d temp is now also reduced causing a more incresed fuel counsumption.

Now the annoying part.
I proceeded to evbareke market and uwelu market all in benin and cud nt get it to buy . All of dem keeps sayin '' oga u nor need am we dey throway am ofor nigeria becos of our weather.'' Just imagine. Bunch of clueless people.

Now people pls I want to know who can help me source for original thermosrtst for d said engine. Pls I'm begging. I want my engine to last and my fuel return to normal.

NB. Car temp guage still reads at half mark but now it takes a longer time as opposed to befoe dat takes less dan 4 mins and remain dere even if d engine is workin for a day. NB also dat d said car has neva overheated and colant was always full . Just a lil top up . Will attach pic of the thermostat soon

The problem I have with buying parts locally is the flooding of our market with substandard versions of almost any and all parts. I will raise you a quote if you are interested. And hey! I mean OEM version of your thermostat, not some aftermarket version.

Hello, I have the same issue with my top radiator getting very hot and coolant usually pop out from the radiator. Is it the themostat that is faulty pls.... I use a toyota cam 1997... Awaiting reply on this pls

Looking at what you have there, it doesn't seem like the oem going by the nature of the metal it's built on and the uneven finishing of the rubber gasket seal around the neck. If you also look closely you will notice it doesn't have the escape valve like the original. The OEM is listed without the seal but it's available for purchase. While lots of aftermarket version comes with the seal though cheaper.

The one I sourced is same as shipped with a brand new 2003 Camry from toyota factory.

Your thermostat seems likely stuck or opens just a little not allowing sufficient coolant flow. You might need a change. Beware of the aftermarket versions sold here. I am not ruling out the possibility of getting a good one but truth is, they are far in-between.

If that be the case, can you get me a good one and what's the cost pls..

Its d same as mine, 82 degree C, 97 10 inscriptions on it.
