All the while you have been talking of LUTH diagnosis of cancer
This is new information as what was written by luth was chronic liver disease.

Where did luth talk of cancer as your statements indicate that there was a diagnosis from luth yet then went on a battery of tests for reasons unknown
This is luth diagnosis...https://www.nairaland.com/1963635/need/36#27871243

Er...can you not see the malignant ascites diagnosis written under the decompensated Chronic Liver Disease they suspected was the primary source in that same paper in the link you used your own hand to supply? Did you not see the blood tests for cancer and blood test to check for internal bleeding?

Funjosh:

Na wo o, small small na. make una display some maturity na.

Thanks for your opinion. When I get to that bridge I will cross it. Expect an invitation in the mail. Thanks once again.

As for you bunksy, Maryjane09 and Caracta were the only ones sweating round attending to DJ at the time you people were cruelly saying "tehn would have handled it better" oh. Hence reason for my last paragraph in bold not to frustrate them. So what other meaning does this have than you people were implying they were rubbish...So it is okay for you and Tehn to criticise others, but Tehn does not want to be criticised, hence reason for their pre-emptive attack on me to silence me. So what is good for the goose is not good for the gander? By the way, awon iran di iran e ni o ni problem". So all of you keep chatting shite, God is watching all of you hypocrites in 4D. Thanks for promising not to reply me

busybody2:
I have nicely told people to carry their politics away from this thread. This is a life and death matter here...All DJDOLA needs is a credible Doctor/Hospital and for him to survive this ordeal first, so anybody that knows what help to render should do so, instead of repeating ad nauseum that TEHN woulda done this or that...

Once the OP's health has been stabilised and he has been given a clean bill of health, then people with an axe to grind with Seun can state their concerns/frustration...This is not the thread to roast Seun alive.

And we have to be careful we don't frustrate those already helping as they are trying their best too. Thanks.

Malignancy is not just a common ailment that can. Be diagnosed without series of tests

Tests were done at labs based on referrals and consultations with people offline

The amount includes lab tests, hospital fees, transportation to and from labs, feeding

Healthcare in Nigeria is expensive and take note teaching hospitals have been on strike for upwards of two Months now

So consultants have to visited in a private capacity

I understand all you explained, I av a close relation that was diagnosed in a private hospital too with the same case and we didn't spend this much.all the same thank God we are moving forward

@babyosisi ,with what I ve been able to read so far,you aren't helping matters by making everything go too public. How?

Even if you notice anything, you could have contacted the TEHNs behind closed doors as you people have been communicating cos I remember I read someone made mention that they have been sending you the results or so. What happened to the email addy you have been using to communicate?

I don't know if you have anything against the organisers but what you said that really disgust me is " stop wasting donors money" and you had to write that in bold letters.

I can say of Four people I know that i dragged here to donate who are not even members of nairaland and I was shocked when one called to say " dey just dey waste the money given to them" and a screen shot of what you said was sent to me. I was shocked cos I never knew he was still following the thread. I tried to explain but he said for someone who communicates with TEHNs back door to come out and say this means they have been spending anyhow and you had no choice than to drum it into our ears "with capital letter"that donors money is been wasted. TELL ME EVEN IF DJDOLA HAVE TO GO TO INDIA, HOW DO I CONVINCE HIM TO DONATE AGAIN? Or how do I convince some other people who will come here to read first before donating?

If you that got mails and result from them can come out and say this, what of we that contributed and the only thing we get to read is what we see here?

Note: don't think I'm trying to blame you leaving those who you are exchanging insult with but I decided to overlook all those and go to the most important thing to me because you all decided to insult each other willingly if not,you can all ignore the insults.

@busybody2, I will be frank with what I want to ask you now. Do u think with the way you asked about how money is being spent, doing calculations for them go well with someone who left his work, home and other things to drive down to the hospital and lab in this traffic coupled with the harsh weather be happy? I know you meant no harm but from what somethings you wrote, the people on the field won't be happy about it.

There is an email addy there which you can use to communicate whatever thing you think about this hospital extortion.

Dearie, not everyone have the patient to read and read and dealing with this kind of case where people "donate money to someone they don't know to support someone they don't know" and when they read of any mistake, alot of them will back off. So please, try and correct that.

I just can't imagine how DJDOLA will feel now regarding all the health issues with big names flying up and down just because we want people to know we know more.

The Lord is our strength and I believe he won't forsake us not after going this far. Amen.

Should I say the ONLY or MOST sensible post I have read since i came in today.

DJDola, just know they are fighting for a common goal, your sound health that will cause embracement.

That embracement shall surely come by His grace.

[b]Update 20th December ‎2014

First and foremost we would like to thank each and everyone for the concern shown in the past few days. We understand and appreciate the interest shown in the getting of DJ back to his feet and appreciate this as we all have equal stake in it.

We have listened and will continue to listen as success to us is seeing him pain free.

Having said the above, DJ has had to check himself back into the hospital this morning as he felt a bit of discomfort over the night.

Our field worker was able to meet with him at the hospital and spoke to the doctor.

The results from th‎e cytology and the CT scan has been examined and they have referred him to an oncologist.

They said we have two choices in this case, we either use the teaching hospital (in which case he will have to wait until they end their strike) or we use Lakeshore Cancer Center(LCC) in VI.

Upon this we took the results to LCC to make enquiries

‎These are the results of our enquiries at LCCs

• Their oncologist is not around and wont be around until Monday so we have booked an appointment for noon on Monday which we will have to bring Hamed ‎ along

• we have dropped the test results and our details  and they said they will call u‎s later to confirm our appointment.

• They are majorly an out patient facility and so they do not admit except in cases where the patient needs chemo

• They charge 10k for registration and 60k for consultation and palliatives.

PS: The figures below is an high level breakdown of expenditure and balance at hand.

Naira Account:
Total Donation =2,711,628
Total Spent =960,000
Balance =1,751,628

Paypal Account:£1110 + $929
Balance=

‎We have been requesting for steer and direction on this case but only the following have been gotten so far

1. Ask the doctors for the probability of a cancer diagnosis . This is done now.

2. Open a new thread to get a doctor who can support the team. This will be done soon

The following are the key issues again

1. Since the consensus on the forum is that the first hospital is not satisfactory, we need a place where he can be stabilized pending when he can be flown abroad for treatment

2. Should we start treatment at the LCC

 3. Funds are needed for this venture either at LCC or abroad

Your steer is needed.

Still on the matter!!! Way forward!!!

Oh my God! this diagnosis is really upsetting. For me I suggest we arrange all the test results and send to India so we can get a likely estimate for treatment. I would insist on HCG hospital Bangalore India. It is a cancer specialty center well known and highly recommended. I know someone with cancer of the blood- I think they call it Leukemia, after spending over 4million at National hospital Abuja, the guy was getting worse and dieing. He was then flown to India. At HCG he was charged just about 3 Million naira. He was treated with the latest state of the art machines. He came back to Nigeria well and did his wedding. Also that's where Dora Akunyili was taken to. unfortunately she went very late. But for someone of that calibre to go there you should know it is a highly recommended hospital.
Secondly I am highly against getting cancer treatment in Nigeria. All they give is their chemo that can even kill. Even when they are lucky for it to work, in a short time it reoccurs and kills them.Never will I advice anyone. People who have relatives or friends who have cancer will never advice that. If worse come to worst, UCH is better but India is best.
From what I have seen and observed cancer treatment in Nigeria is a no no no!

Is DJ problem really cancer? ....and why are we going to the LCC to find out the probability of the cause being cancer? After spending nearly a million we have nothing definite. We should stay clear of anywhere the bandits recommend or it will be another million for another battery of tests and like I said from jump...in the end they will watch you in the eye and say we have done our best and there is nothing more we can do. At the appointment on Monday...this I can tell from now....LCC will recommend he be admitted for tests and treatment. What Crown said earlier about cancer treatment is the bitter truth. Even if he has cancer...sending DJ to LCC for treatment is a death sentence. At the appointment on Monday...when the oncologist is finished his building hope with words...this is the question I want posed to him.How many of his patients he treated in the past 5 years are alive today? I swear he would not give you a straight answer but if he says even 2...he is a flat out liar.Keep DJ out of LCC. Since it seems that there is no credible hospital in Nigeria I recommend we stop the bleeding of funds and have him flown to a general hospital in India...not a specialist hospital such as a cancer hospital...because we still don't know the cause of his problem. As for chemotherapy. ....that's a slow death sentence and we will be forever raising funds to buy medications and the patient will suffer until the day he gives up the ghost. If chemotheraphy is that good and effective...why is it not done in Europe? The root cause of Hamed's problem is yet to be found and until then....we are treating the symtoms only. He needs to travel abroad and that should be our focus.

Thanks for your suggestion

LCC is not to confirm the probability of cancer but to see the oncologist and go about the course of treatment

What do you suggest be done while funds are being raised for him to fly.

He needs to be stabilised somewhere

Have the test results been sent to the new indian hospital yet?

I think the problem of ripping us off our money by the hospital is as a result of them knowing that this patient is a "community paid" patient cared for by charity. The hospital must have been told/made aware/found out that the patient had so many people donating to his coffers and the stream of funds was endless. TeHN should take note.

What the hospital failed to understand is that just as we. Know them, we can run them down and badmouth them too since we are a multitude.

While a doctor is necessary to be on hand, in this age and time, that should not be so worrisome if we can't find any volunteer. We pay for one. Its part of the expenses we incur. Find a good level headed doctor in Lagos, pay him to do the job a volunteer would have done for free. Since we have no volunteers here.
Alternatively, arrange a phone appointment between babyosisi and the doctor, they are colleagues and should get along better.

At this stage, most people will only donate when there is a certainty of a diagnoses. So, let's get the hospital to spell it all out in black and white so we can be armed with the document as we canvass for funds.

You can Google HCG India. You do an online chat or Skype them there on their website. Then send all the tests results in your care. You should also ask the doctor for a detailed medical report.they will give you treatment plan and cost estimate.

Are you very sure? do you know anyone personally who did? here in Nigeria? Go to National hospital a listed cancer care hospital you see people dieing there daily even other hospitals. A distant cousin of mine just died here of bosom cancer and it wasn't late stage. Only if it is precancerous stage then they do surgery and yank that part off. But once its gotteh to cancer they give you chemo- even the chemo kills very harsh. Then when you survive their harsh chemo you go home it reoccurrs and that's the end. Never advice anyone to get treated fro Cancer here even if it's stage one.

In my humble opinion, since we arent sure we are dealing with cancer yet, stabilising him in a cheaper hospital would be best. l dont know if federal medical centers too are in strike but they are cheap and effective.
But i feel expiditing tests for cancer and cancelling it out is of essense. I pray its not cancer but we cant affford any delays in even hours if it is and it wont hurt to get travelling documents ready incase it is needed. The cost of that isnt much.
May God guide us through to make the best decisions.
