chapter 1
The minute i get to
work eveyday it's the
same. My asshole of a
boss rides me for not
being perfect at my job.
I'm an analyst/ law
consultant who works
from eight to ten. Yes I

get them the help they
need for them to
receive justice.
I deal with all types of
people both clients and
non clients and It's hard
work but the reward of
putting a smile on
someone's face after
they receive justice for
the wrong that's been
done to them makes it
all better. Not to
mention the pay. The
pay is pretty good, so
that puts a smile on my
face.
I got dressed in a form
fitting navy dress suit
with a white blazer and
navy heels. The outfit
was business but could
also walk into a bar
after work without
earning me too many

I brushed my hair and
decided to let it down. I
was feeling optimistic
today. Maybe because I
was moving out from
the two bedroom

The elevator doors
dinged open and we
walked out, that
annoying feeling of your

up after being on an
elevator still in my
system.
I walked over to Sally
the fifth floor
receptionist. She was
already smiling. I loved
her because she was
always smiling and
happy.

she greeted. You could
literally hear the

Chapter 2
The first few clients
were, and it hurt me to
say so, hopeless. Chris
was right, they didn't
have any case to buid
on. They were on
somebody's land illegaly
and had built their
homes on it yet they
knew that that was
not public land reserved
for housing. I didn't
know what to do to
help them except give
them addresses of
affordable yet safe
places that they could
move to. No lawyer in
their right mind would
defend them. Their's
was a losing side. A
knock on the door
interrupted my
thoughts.
"Ms. Knowles?"
"Yes, come in"
He was a man who
looked about six foot
two. He looked about
late twenties or thirty
at most and he was
not shabby looking like
the other people I had
seen. He wore a navy
suit that matched my
dress perfectly, the top

chest. His hair was dark
with a few curls on it
and it was tussled, like

families homeless
which I don't think is

were mislead into

some conmen realtors"

Chapter 3
It had been two days
since agreeing to go on
a date with Jason Ross.
And I was freaking out.
What does a girl wear
to a carnival? I had just

Chapter 4
The man was a
gentleman. I had to give
him points for that. The
minute I pulled up at
the parking lot I
spotted him under the
sign that read 'State
carnival' exactly where
he said he'd be waiting.
I parked my car and
walked towards him
smiling. He looked good
in those black jeans and
white v-neck t-shirt
that fit him like a
second skin.
"So when I suggested a
carnival, I didn't think
you'd take it to heart"

bit my lip," I'm not
exactly known for my
creativity,look at my
job. It was either this or
a bar. I thought you
deserved more than a
very drunk and rowdy
version of me"

He held out his hand for
me and I took it. He led
me into the very
crowded carnival's
entrance where we

tweeked the whole

turned around to face

I shut my eyes as he

led me to god knows
where. The noise
suddenly died down but
I could still hear people's
laughter, the music and
peoples' voices it just
wasn't as loud. We
came to a stop after
walking for a few
minutes . I don't know
what had possessed
me to trust a total
stranger who asked me
to close my eyes and
follow him. This was
crazy but I surprisingly
didn't mind. Normally I
didn't even agree to go
on a date with a
someone I knew
without some
convincing from Matty
or one of my other
friends. This new side
of me was different. I
could smell the fruity
scent of flowers around
me.
I heard the song by a
great big world , say
something , playing
around us.
"You can open your eyes
now" He said. I could

The place was full of
balloons on the ground
with a few flowers
here and there. All the
flowers were of bright
colours that went along
with the whole carnival
theme. It was beautiful
yet whimsical at the
same time. We were
standing at the
entrance of where the
carnivals' adult rides
were and there was a
sign reading out of
order.
"This is amazing" I said

landed on a asign.

bar. I ran after them
after seeing the boy
get helped up by his
friends. His nose did not
look good .At all.

ground getting up after
they threw him out. He
stood up and looked at

"Are you ok?" He said as
he put his hands on my
face looking for i'm
guessing a scratch or
bruise. His eyes were
scanning every inch of
my face as I stood
there my eyes wide in
shock of what had just
happened.
"Am I ok, are you ok" I
asked slightly amused
by his actions.
"Yeah I'm fine, did he
hurt you?" he said
worry evident on his
face.
"No , he didnt. So much
for a date at the bar" i
said to lighten the
mood.

Chapter 7
The feeling of strong
arms around me woke
me up. I could feel the
sun's rays on my body
as I slowly opened my
eyes. Jason was
supporting himself on
his arm as he lay
sideways watching me
with an intense look on
his face. It was like he
was trying to analyze
every inch of my face.
"Morning, is something
wrong?" I asked him. He
must have been in a
world of his own
because the sound of
my voice made him blink
quickly like he was
snapping out of a
daydream or something.
"Morning beautiful " He
said smiling at me. He
really had white teeth. I
lifted my hand to his
face and lightly touched
the slightly pink bruise
on his cheek.
"You took a hit last
night"
"So did you" he said
chuckling. I turned
crimson thinking about
last night. I could feel a
headache coming on
from all that vodka I
had.I turned my head to
the left and saw the
time on my alarm clock ,
nine a.m. Crap! I jolted
out of his arms and
ripped the bedsheet
from him and wrapped
myself in it.. His eyes
were wide with
surprise due to my rapid
and sudden movement.
He lay there in all his
naked glory.
"Come back to bed"
"I'm late . And its a
Monday"
"So?"He asked putting

head while lifting a

locked the door to my

heart sink

just wish he would drop
dead" I said "Do the

"You'll be fine" He got
out of the car and
handed me the keys
after locking it. He
kissed me then said,"
I've got some business
I need to take care of,

done. Have a great day"
and walked away.
I ran into the building
and straight to my
office. Taking a deep
breath, I ran my hand
through my hair.
"Why haven't you been
picking up my calls?"

Chapter 8
She's perfect. Eveything
about her is exactly
how it's supposed to
be. I've never been this
happy before and I was
loving it. .We were going
great and it would
continue this way. I
looked at the cellphone
in my hands. It wasn't
mine. I had swipped it
off the man who'd
gropped her ass. I
scrolled down the
device looking for any
type of information
that would lead me to
him. No address.
Nothing. All I had
gathered was that the
idiots name was Chase
and that he went to
the local college from
his texts. I was going
to have to do this the
hard way. I pressed the
contacts button and
scrolled down until I
found what I was
looking for, mum. I
pressed the call button
while adjusting myself
in my car seat still
parked in front of her
house. It didnt ring long
before a woman picked
up.
"Oh thank God honey I
thought something bad
had happened to you .
You weren't picking my
calls"
"Sorry Maam, I'm not
Chase , I'm his friend
from college"
"Did something
happen?" the worry in
her voice was evident.
"Well no not really its
just that he left his
phone at my house
yesterday and i'm not
sure where to drop it
off."
"Oh thank you dear, You
can just bring it to
Barrow street the third
house on the left."
"Sure thing Maam"
"Thank you dear for
being such a sweety"
"Anytime"
I started the car and
drove to Barrow street
which was a five
minute drive from
Keira's house. I could
feel the anger in me
start to rise
slowly.Parking the car
two blocks away I got
out and walked to the
house.
"Third house on the
left" I said taking the
final step to the front
door. I knocked the door
as I surveyed the area.
This was a middle class
street.The houses
were not too far apart
from each other and
they looked like the
houses shown in
commercials with the
newly wed couples
waving at the cameras.

Keira had to see mine.

buy her one. I'll save
that thought for later.
The door opened to
reveal a blonde woman
in capri pants and a
white sweater she
looked like she was in
her mid thirties or early
fourties. I gave her a
warm smile.
"You must be Chase's
mother right?"
"Yes I am"
"I'm his friend from
college"
She looked doubtful.
"Aren't you a little old
for college?"
"Damn right" I said as I
pushed the door open
causing her to stumble
backwards on to the
floor. I grabbed her and
pulled her up as I clasp
her mouth shut with
my hand then kicking
the door shut. My hand
was over her mouth
while the other was
holding her hands behind
her back. Leading her to
the living room, I threw
her on the couch . She
was shivering and
crying which just made
me feel good.
"Scream and your dead"
I said pulling out the
knife from my back
pocket. She sat up
tears rolling down her
face. I went to sit next
to her and held her
hands as I looked into
her eyes.
"Is there someone else
in the house?" I asked
my voice softening. She
shook her head.
"Are you sure?" She
nodded.
"Good."
She was avoiding my
eyes but I wanted her
to look at me." Hey,
Hey, i'm not here for
you, well technically, i'm
here for Chase, where
is he?"
"I dont know" she
whimpered still averting
her eyes from mine. I
got onto one knee
infront of her while still
holding her hands which
were shaking
uncontrollably.
"Don't worry, i'll wait"

face my front.

duck tape or rope
sweety?"
She was weeping
silently as she pointed it
out for me but her
breathing was really
loud. That was getting
on my nerves. I sat her
down in one of the
dining tables chairs and
tied her with the duck
tape. I put the last
piece on her mouth and
knelt infront of her.
"Try not to breath so
loud, Its pissing me off"
I said patting her tear
stained cheek as I got
up. I dragged the chair
she was on to the living
room and set it down in
the middle of the room
before sitting down on
the couch. Just then I
heard the front door
open.
"Mum?"
"We're in here" I said
excitedly. This was
going to be fun. I got up
and walked to the wall
joining the living room
and the front door. I
was met with the idiot.
"Chase , just the guy I
wanted to see" I said
smiling. Recognition lit
up his face as I grabbed
him and threw him on
the ground. He started
crawling backwards as I
walked ever so slowly
towards him. He hit his
back on his mother's
feet causing him to look
up.
"Mum?"
If he was scared, well
now he was terrified. I
picked him up by the
collar of his shirt and
grabbed his already
broken nose and
squeezed. He nearly got
a scream out but I
covered his mouth with
my other hand.
"Shhhh" we dont want
to wake the neighbours
do we"
The little bugger was
also crying now and his
mother was too but
she was all tied up so it
sounded muffled up and
funny. I sat him down
on another dining chair
and tied him up then i
sat him infront of his
mother.I took out my
knife and played with it
a little as I watched the
two of them helplessly
trying to free
themselves.
"I just wanted to teach
you a lesson Chase.
Dont ever Bleep with
what's mine. Keira is
mine. You understand
right?" I said feeling
anger rise in me as I
recalled the way he
gropped her ass.I shut
my eyes to calm myself
but it wasn't helping. He
nodded frantically.
"Good" I said standing
up , "but that doesnt
change the fact that
you touched her, so, I'm
just going to make
myself feel better here"

drove it into his chest

but only muffled noises

His mother had pissed

drove the bloodied knife
into her heart.once and
she gurgled a little
before finally dying.I
wiped the blade on her
sweater and washed
my handsin the kitchen
sink. I walked out of
that house feeling a lot
better than I had
walked in. I felt great.

Chapter 9
FILLER
My head was spinning. I
was panicking. After a
really long day at work I
got home to the
disshevelled state of
my bed only to realise
something. He hadn't
wrapped it up. I stood
there in shock not
knowing what to do.
Matty, he'll know what
to do.He always knows
what to do
"You did what?!" He
yelled eyes wide open.
"I know, I wasn't
thinking straight"
"Dude,,Obviously"
"You're not really helping
right now" I said sitting
down next to him.
"Come on, we need to
be at the drug store"
"Why? Its already
done"I said with an eye
roll.
"Morning after pills? Plus
we need to buy you the
neccessary and some
pills to avoid a repeat
performance"
"Right , why didnt i think

"Your brain isn't
functioning right, come
on"He said taking my
hand and leading me to
his car.
We got to the local
drugstore where the
woman who checked
out what we had picked
out pretty much
condemned me to hell
with her eyes.So
judgemental. Matty
shamelessly added
another pack of trojans
while smiling to piss her
off even more when
she was done checking
us out. As we walked
out of the store
laughing, I walked into a
large chest causing me
stumble but familiar
large hands steadied
me.
"Hey there"
I looked up to meet
those beautiful grey
eyes.
"What are those?" He
asked looking at the
spilled contents of my
purchases on the
ground. I was officially
past embarrassed. I
dropped down as
quickly as I could and
stuffed them into the
plastic bag that was
also on the ground but
he was on his knees
with me and held the
contraceptives in their
pack in his hands.
"What's all this?"
He asked handing them
to me slowly.Thank god
it was late and there
was only a handful of
people around who
luckily hadnt witnessed
my mortification. Matty
however wasnt sparing
me. He was clutching
his stomach laughing
even harder than before
causing the few people
around to give him
irritated and
dissaproving looks.
"This is me being
careful" I said slightly
pissed at the situation.
Matty walked up to my
side still chuckling.
"I take it you two know
each other" he said
between chuckling.
"This is Jason, Jason ,
Matty my best friend" I
said clutching the plastic
bag close to me.
Matty's eyes lit up
mischeviously as they
widened.
"Oh this is too good" he

I stood there not

familiar.The news
reporter was speaking
in the background as
they showed photos of

The victims Chase
Murray a twenty year
old student at Baraton
college and his mother
Lacey Murray were
found dead , strapped
to chairs with multiple
stab wounds on thier
bodies by their
housekeeper. Sources
say that nobody was
seen entering or leaving
the house.The police
department
commented that they
were working hard to
find the killer though
there are no suspects
at this time. This leads
us to ask,how safe are
we in our homes"
Then it hit me. The bar
last night.
"That's the kid who

but feel sorry for the
guy and his family. My
eyes were roaming the
ceiling when my
thoughts went to
Jason. Wait a minute,
how did he know I was
at the drug store?

Jason's P.O.V
I hadn't slept all night.
All I could think of was
Keira. The feel of her
body beneath mine was
the greatest feeling I
had ever had. Imagining
her body naked made
my trousers tighten
even more than they
already had. She had
given me her virginity
which must mean that
I was special to her
too.After making sure
she got home safe I
had watched her for an
hour before going to my
house. It pissed me off
that she wanted to
start using pills and
protection. What's the
harm in her having my
baby? That would bring
me the greatest joy. I
wish she knew how
much I love her. I
wanted to spend the
rest of my life with her,
get married and start a
family. I don't care in
which order as long as
they all happen. The
sooner the better. I
knew that I hadnt used
protection in the first
place, I didnt want to.
Nothing would make me
happier than to have a
baby with her and I
would. She wouldn't
stop me. She can't stop
me. I would do anything
it takes for her to have
my baby and be with

car right now watching
