Speaker of the House of Representatives Aminu Tambuwal has withdrawn a suit which he filed against the Attorney General of the Federation and the Inspector General of Police over withdrawal of his security details.



The suit was struck out by a Federal High Court today, November 17, following an application by Tambuwal to withdraw the suit, Daily Trust reports.

Application to withdraw the suit was filed by counsel to Tambuwal, Tunji Abayomi on the grounds that the speaker instructed him to do so.

According to Tunji, the Code of Ethics of the legal profession requires he complies.


Justice Ahmed Mohammed who ruled on the case therefore struck out Tambuwal’s suit.

Recall that following Tambuwal’s defection from the ruling party, Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), his security details had been withdrawn by the Federal Government.

Tambuwal had gone to court, challenging the constitutional powers of the IGP to withdraw his security details without a court order.

The withdrawal of Tambuwal’s security details caused quite a stir as many condemned it. The Arewa Consultative Forum  and the All Progressive Party, APC condemned the FG’s action.

This is the highest degree of cluelessness (I hope the janjanweed callers of GEJ clueless can learn more of this speaker's own),thought his supporters where hell bent in securing the speakership for him.

So this is how coward an anticipating president to be in few month can be? Why withdraw the suit if your attitude and action of decamping meets constitutional adherence as LIA mouahmend shouted earlier this month on the pages of sharareporters headlines.

Or does TAMBUWAL thinks he can still be the speaker come Dec3 ? I doubt it spiritually expect if my PdP lawmakers loyalist jst wanna let him be in compensation 4 his longstanding patriotism to PDP

This is not the moment for PDP to celebrate. This guy has realised his mistake, sensed defeat and made a strategic withdrawal.

Unfortunately his withdrawal neither validates nor invalidates whether he is no longer speaker or not.

It's dangerous to leave this up in the air, because PDP does not have the numbers to impeach him. The best way to remove him is through courts!

The Attorney General and PDP should go back to the courts and ask for an injunction for Tambuwal to stop parading himself as speaker or legislator.

It's time to go on attack!
