Whitehorse:

What does the Constitution say? Constitutionally, Tambuwal is NO longer a member of the House of reps talk less of being its speaker. It is very clearly stated.

Does that mean the house of reps members should be tear gassed? No.

All these problems are all avoidable, if politicians are not greedy, selfish and followed the rule of law.

The import of the current situation is that House of reps will be in limbo till after February 14th, 2015, which seems to be lost on a lot of people here...

Oga,which constitution are u referring to? So a man who was elected by his people to represent them is know longer a rep member because he defected to another party? I'll glad glad if u can tell us the section of our constitution u got ur point from.

Whoever ordered this military display of force against Tambuwal has only given the lawless Speaker unwarranted public sympathy.

There are times to ignore someone until the cup is full and ready for harvest.

THE PRESIDENT IS DOING WHAT HE SHOULD HAVE DONE AGES AGO!!! NOBODY WILL TORELATE THIS SORT OF IMPUNITY!!! IF ANYONE SHOULD BE BLAMED FOR THIS ,IT SHOULD BE THE JUDICIARY FOR DELAYING THE INTERPRETATON OF A VERY OBVIOUS PART OF THE CONSTITUTION.AS LONG AS THAT PROVISION IS STILL IN THE CONSTITION,IT MUST BE ENFORCED

I dont knkw howmuch I know about politics.but are you not forgetting something.the majority party in the hoise produces the speaker?so by vertue of him decamping.ho no longer belong to the majority in boise party.so he is no longer the speaker.no action needed to remove him

What does the law say? It said the members from within themselves shall elect a speaker. The law never said such must come from the majority party.

Truth is Tambuwal cant have his cake and eat it. Since he decamped to the minority party in the house, he can on longer lead for the majority that carries the house. A leader without followers is simply going for a walk. No sentiments here

Why don't you calm down?
They are two different scenario . House politics is different from state politics.

Mimiko brought labour party to Ondo state and the people accepted it. He later dumped the party and they still followed him to PDP. Majority of LP members are now PDP members in Ondo state. He is the progenitor and the leader of the party which made him switch with ease because his followers accepted it.

In Tambuwal's case, the Speaker can only come from the party with majority of the seat in the house. Since he seized to be a member of the party that forms the majority, then he has no right to continue as the speaker.
but mst he and the rest of the lawmakers be subject to intimidation, arrasment n teargasing movie.

Empty words, desist from quoting me any further, It is clear you want to argue over what you have little knowledge of!

The facts of the matter, Court stated unequivocally, Maintain the Status quo, if you cannot understand what that fact means and that they are well established ways of removing people from the national assembly, removing the speaker, declaring seats vacant then you are here spitting arrant nonsense!

No need to get insulting, i asked a simple question:

The question i asked initially is what does the constitution say? Answer that question first sir

Tambuwal is simply reaping what he sowed. This is just the beggining. He aint seen nothing yet. Since he has decided not to apply common sense, he will have to contend with the problems he created for himself.

And this is the person Nigerians stood up for after the death of Yar Adua, this is a disgrace to the "rule of law" which he benefitted from. Gradually we are beginning to see the Wolf in the Sheep's clothing.

. Sir your assertion is wrong, the house elects for its self a speaker ie (1st among equals) and the speaker is from the house and NOT any political party. In other words, the members elects who they want irrespective of the party. But what happens is that the party that has the majority will always win, because all members will vote one person.
this is politics remove morality, since you can decamp enjoy the repercussion.

Mimiko decamped to PDP we didn't hear any noise about that, now Tambuwal decamped to APC hell is being let loosed.
Even if you say he is no longer the speaker, at least he is still a legislator.....or is it that he has been suspended all together by the police?

we should be reasonable in our arguments.

NL and abusive people... Na wa o.

Anyway, read up the constitution of Nigeria yourself. Its clearly stated there. Constitutionally, Tambuwal is NO longer a member of the House of reps! How can you lead an organization of which you are not a part of?

Its very clear and simple. The only leg he can stand on is by asking the court to interprete that part of the Constitution.
