My only objection is on number 9: Free-for-all. Free-for-all is ambiguous and needs a verb to make sense.Eg the market was a free for all...senseless i say. Now,the market was a free for all trading activity..sensible huh.Free-for-all does not mean just fighting alone..it depicts unruly or unorganized activities involving arguments, discussions, trading or fights...how can you say there was a free for all...free-for-all what??..there was a free for all fighting,discussions,arguments,trading...etc .Thanks 1 Like |

as good as it may seem, i think its good for professional journalism, however its an alien language so it need not be excessively buttress. Look at Americans they have their own form of English and the world accept it as English, even if its typically different from those spoken and written by British. For Jargons your write-up is cool but with respect to slang please we are good |

MissMeiya: You shouldn't jump into an argument without deducting the reasoning of what is being argued. Did you bother to read the quote I responded to? What are you on about? Some said ""The majority language always wins", and I replied: majority depends on the number of speakers. If MAJORITY is the "BASELINE" in which I used America as an example, why aren't African adopting pidgin? Like American and Pidgin, they are wrong deviations of the standard English. How does my response relate to the article in the first place? American English is standardized? Lol..by who? You? Lmao...How many countries speak American English vs the Standard English? Your argument is all over: who argued about grammatical errors? Geez, your logical reasoning is questionable. Please, know the difference between a language like Igbo, Yoruba, Hausa, Swahili, Pidgin, English, French etc. vs having to make errors when you speak a language such as English. As you rightly said, this argument is not worth it for me. |

Let me add my own. So and so "disclosed this": A disclosure usually uncovers something secret but the media uses this for the most redundant information. Oh, in his speech, the Governor disclosed that good governance and the rule of law will ensure a better future for Nigeria. Thanks a lot for this mind-blowing exclusive. DjAndroid: people like you make good stooges/slaves. No enlightened person will be so enamored over speaking a foreign language especially when their native language plays second fiddle - an average german, polish, indian dont give a second thought as to their english expressions so far they pass on the message. Going by ur assertion, most pple in Nigeria shouldnt be allowed to speak English after all they dont speak it like their colonial masters do. Get over ur slave mentality. |

Bravoosii: u are d one who shuld to look up d meaning of d word. Having english as our lingua franca was for strategic reasons not as a justification for our existence. I see no reason why we should be devoted to it when our native languages (yoruba, igbo, etc) are in decline. |
