APC set to receive Umana on Friday
Mr. Umana Okon Umana, former secretary to Akwa Ibom State Government and leading governorship aspirant in the state, is to join the All Progressives Congress (APC). Umana's switch to APC will be followed by a mass movement of other PDP leaders and their supporters across the state to our great Party.
A cross-over rally to formally receive Umana and other PDP leaders in
the state into the APC and formalise their membership of the Party
will now hold on Friday, 28 November 2014 by 12 pm at Asan Ibibio in
Uyo, Akwa Ibom State capital. The change in date to Friday is due to
another national event of the Party, which is the inauguration of the
governor of Osun State into a second term in office on Thursday, 27
November in Osogbo.
The cross-over rally in Uyo will be attended by the national leadership of the APC, to be led by Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, along with the national chairman, Chief John Oyegun, all the APC governors,
members of the national working committee of the party, Speaker of the House of Representatives, all presidential candidates of the Party and rank and file of party membership across the country.
Umana, who started the campaign to actualise his aspiration to lead
the state as governor on the platform of the PDP, said he is dumping
the party following his illegal and unconstitutional exclusion from
the party's gubernatorial primary in the state on the ground that he
is from Uyo Senatorial District, a clear breach of the Constitution of
the Federal Republic which forbids discrimination against a Nigerian
citizen on the basis of his place of birth.
The state chapter of the party is expected to address a world press
conference to give details about the new political development.
