minute: Yes! if you want the "alaro" type of ekuru, you only need to add little potash (kaun) after blending the beans. Nevertheless, that will makes the colour darker and the texture a little bit harder. |

is ekuru another form of moin moin? |
Re: How And What Do You Use To Eat Ekuru? by detruth: 3:11pm On Dec 23, 2008 |
tkb417: Except with similarities in the way of wrapping and steaming, ekuru is a little bit different Unilike moinmoin, nothing is added to ekuru before blending, not even salt. In addition, moinmoin does not require vigirous stiring like ekuru. Ekuru needed to be stired until it is light so as to facilitate the mashing |

Re: How And What Do You Use To Eat Ekuru? by detruth: 3:28pm On Dec 23, 2008 |
I agree with you that Ikokore is a typical ijebu food. But ekuru is quite general to yorubas. sapala or abari is made like moinmoin with fresh corn grains. Its style is not different from moinmoin except bean exchanged for corn. Am I right? |

Ebony my problem with plastic is they alway gum the pot. imagine! i stopped using those small plastic cups from walmart the sqare shapped ones. my moimoi always get burnt and then glued to pot i have empty carnation milk tins for moimoi. will that be good for ekuru? i buy carnation and pour the milk away then use the tins. that's what i do. |
