stanech:Drop out Bernie.Stop dividing the party simple. "We've had the same rules in place that elected Barack Obama. These rules were adopted for state parties all across the country in 2014," she said. "They were followed and even if the Sanders supporters were frustrated, there is never, under any circumstances, a place for violence and intimidation to be resorted to in response." Why the hell is he complaining about a rigged system. He should deal with the truth!Simply face reality and that means staring at the math. 1 Like |

ValerianSteel: It isn't about the rigged system but about the fact that his supporters are not getting the same treatment as killary's supporters. Click the link and read the story. Sometimes they are not allowed to vote. Sometimes they drag and delay the process in Bernie's stronghold to discourage the voters. |

Lucasbalo: Well if you look at the map Trump may win by a landslide. OH, PA,and FL are in play. KY, WV and MI are in play New York will certainly be in play. You can be sure that Trump will remind New Yorkers that Hillary is from Arkansas and only a New Yorker because of political power. Also follow the polls and see how Trump is closing the gap Bernie fighting till the convention may just be an added boost to Trump. My money is definitely on Trump to win in November |

Hillary Is Running A Painfully Stupid Campaign Many Democrats are disenchanted with her ideologically, but that’s not the only reason she’s suffering. Hillary is a politician in the John Kerry mold — she does inexplicably self-destructive things without actually having an impetuous, id-driven self-destructive streak.http://nypost.com/2016/05/18/hillary-is-running-a-painfully-stupid-campaign/ Though I'm not anti-Hillary, I think the author made some salient points about Hillary bungling her campaign |

It's time Hillary strategizes how to knock out Sanders immediately cause he is doing more harm to her campaign than Trump has.He has shown signs that his supporters should have a free ride when they break down law and order as long as they keep railing against the DNC establishment. From her FB. Bernie is going to help elect Donald Trump as president, and his supporters, will get just what they deserve. 1 Like |

The Obama administration is shoveling out regulations nearly one-third faster in its final year than during the previous three — all to beat a May 23 deadline to prevent a President Donald Trump from overturning them. A total of 195 regulations have been pushed through since Jan. 1 at an estimated cost of $69.5 billion to the nation’s businesses, according to the conservative American Action Forum. One of the most significant — a sweeping rule that will extend overtime pay to more than four million people without any input from Congress — was released Tuesday night. This regulatory onslaught has only gotten worse in the administration’s final months,” complained Rep. John Kline (R.-Minn.), who chairs the House committee on Education and the Workforce. The whoosh of final rules on everything from e-cigarette use to greenhouse gas emissions exceeds the pace during the same period in the Clinton administration. The goal is to deny Trump the opportunity to kill those regulations under an expedited process should he be elected president and Congress remain in Republican control. Perhaps the most significant action undertaken by Obama’s Labor Department, the overtime rule will double (to $47,500) the threshold under which virtually all employees qualify automatically for time-and-a-half pay whenever they work more than 40 hours in any given week. The regulation is expected to increase the number of workers eligible for overtime pay by more than four million by the Labor Department’s reckoning; the left-leaning Economic Policy Institute calculates the number affected at more than 12 million. These workers will receive either wage hikes or reduced hours (itself a kind of raise when wages remain constant). Obama has used his regulatory authority in the face of a hostile Congress to edge the country closer toward the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, for instance, by readying the first methane regulation of the oil and gas industry. He’s also pushing the country leftward on a long-sought labor wish list by enacting a rule protecting workers from silica dust as well as by broadening access to overtime pay — measures that Democrats have been unable to push through a Republican-controlled Congress. The rules may seem arcane in many cases, but their impact is often large, prompting fierce (and in most instances unsuccessful) resistance from lawmakers. Ever since the nation’s second president John Adams, lame-duck presidents have used their last days to impose their agendas on successors. But only since George W. Bush has there been a rush to complete regulations fully six months before Election Day. Blame the Congressional Review Act. Enacted by a newly Republican Congress in 1996 as part of Newt Gingrich’s Contract With America, the CRA law gave Congress 60 legislative days after a regulation was issued to block it by using an expedited procedure. “It’s always part of the calculation,” said Michael Hancock, former assistant administrator for policy at the Labor Department’s wage and hour division, “because it can obviously impact all of the work that’s been done on a fairly complex regulation.” http://www.politico.com/story/2016/05/obama-rushes-out-rules-to-guarantee-legacy-223301 2 Likes |

CFCman:She needs to pull it all together. She's trying so hard to level off attacks from Trump at the same time she hasn't been able to get rid of Sanders. This is where the problem lies. She wants to bring Bernie or bust supporters aboard and that is proving hard with Bernie still in the race. Right now I see a likely scenario where Sanders continues his long streak whining and eventually runs as an independent which he should have done from the first day.I also see a third party candidate from the GOP circles. We might be seeing a four man heavily contested race soon. The likelihood of how that would favor Hillary I really doubt, the earlier she gets rid of Sanders in the next two weeks and establish herself as the candidate with the most popular votes the better. Then she would have a lot of work to do bringing Bernie's independents aboard her train. 2 Likes |

CFCman: Never say never Regan who was trailing by more than 30 points at this stage eventually won New York. Bernie supporters can tip the balance. The longer Bernie stays in the race and give the impression that Hillary ultimately bought the nomination the more likely angry Bernie supporters may swing to Trump in NY. Afterall Trump is a native New Yorker. Don't forget that if Trump can capture 70% of NY independents who were not allowed to vote in the NY primaries Trump can pull a big upset. Which will almost certainly guatantee him as the next POTUS. |

ValerianSteel: Sanders has pledged that he wouldn't run an independent/third party campaign. And I take him at his word on that. The more likely 'strong' independent campaign will be from the conservative and libertarian side. Already, there are rumors of Senator Ben Sasse of Nebraska being recruited into an independent campaign. Jill Stein of the Green Party could yet make it a 4-person general election race if she get on the ballot in more states than the present 21 states and DC in which she is on the ballot. I only see her clinching the nomination at the convention, as she will only garner a majority of the pledged delegates on June 14, when she must have won the Washington, D.C. primary. |
Re: American Politics Lounge - Donald Trump Is US President-Elect ! by ValerianSteel(m): 5:10pm On May 18, 2016 |
CFCman:I truly want to believe him as well but at this point I don't trust Sanders on anything,he has shown a clear desperation that if the process doesn't favor him,he'll tilt it in his favor, anyway he can at any cost. Sasse will most likely run as the GOP underdog.Sanders supporters have been warming up to Stein as well who has now used the Sanders storm in the Democratic party as an advantage to draw some of them in. All the same Hillary will get the nomination no matter what Sanders pulls and I believe Cali and NJ will deliver big for her. 1 Like |

Missy89:I agree that NY is a blue state but I was disappointed that Hilary didn't whup Sanders as heavily as I expected. Scoring 58% of the vote in a two-man is a mere win. Trump racked 60% even with two other competitors. Kasich was still in the race at that time and he took away some votes that would have gone to Trump. Did you know that the NY Dem party closed registration months before the actual primary and many Bernie fans couldn't vote. Bernie is really fighting to the end. The GOP roforofo has ended and the Democrats want to start their own. If Sanders doesn't emphatically endorse Hilary, even Obama may not be able to help her win his fanbase over Once the other Republicans embrace Trump (although with their hands over their noses), the only thing that will deny Trump the presidency is the Electoral College. Those guys are another kettle of fish. 1 Like |

Republicans are the worst set of people currently.Somehow Trump releases a list of his likely Supreme Court pick god forbid he's elected and republicans are crawling out of their holes rallying around Trump on this. Funny thing is,Trump probably doesn't even know any of those on the list as some of these justices have supported the earlier anti-Trump movement, hey we know Trump, whatever puts him in the spotlights and appeases conservative demagogues like him. So let me get this straight, the President who's job it is to appoint the next Supreme Court Justice has been denied a hearing on his pick but Donald Trump who hasn't been elected has already announced who he would pick and Republicans have no problem with this. Let's just burn the Constitution why don't we! 1 Like |

A lot of people like Sanders but More like Hillary, that's the reality Bernie needs to face. There are lots of ways to slice and dice this. Sanders is more popular with white voters than with black and Latino ones. Among all racial groups he does better with younger voters than with old ones. Sanders does better in caucuses; Clinton does better in primaries. Sanders does better in open primaries; Clinton does better in closed primaries. Democrats allocate delegates proportionately, so Clinton's blowout win in Georgia netted her a lot more delegates than Sanders's narrower win in Michigan. http://www.vox.com/2016/5/18/11699890/clinton-sanders-poll 2 Likes |

ValerianSteel: The only problem is that NY is not her home state. She won Kentucky by so many points but tied with Sanders. She won WV but lost. What this election has shown is that the Clintons are not as loved as the media want us to believe. If she cannot win the Rust belt she's done. Btw new national polls now show Trump leading her by 3 points and Trump has increased his women support significantly. He now leads Hillary by 9 points among white women. As I said my money is on Trump to win in fall |

^^ The more surprising aspect of that poll is that he has a 72% approval rating among Republicans. So, after all, Republicans may still show up to vote for him despite all the media talk of conservatives staying at home in large numbers. |

”Party Unity my foot”-That's the message from Sanders. He doesn't give a fvck about the party and he is ready to wrestle the nomination from Hillary even after loosing. The people have spoken, they may like Sanders but Clinton is the woman for the job,Sanders should deal with it. Can someone just put him in coma till January before he destroys the Democratic party entirely. No one forced him to come under the party's banner and run.He should have remained an independent. If we don't adhere to caution,Grandpa Bernie would hand the White House to Trump. Just when I thought Republicans were the laughing stock, democrats are currently scripting SNL day in day out thanks to Bernie Slanders. http://nytimes.com/2016/05/19/us/politics/bernie-sanderss-campaign-accuses-head-of-dnc-of-favoritism.html 1 Like |

Sanders is going to do more damage to Clinton than The Donald, but there is no mathematical chance of him clinching the nomination. If he had been this aggressive from the outset, the race would have been very different. The Dems never took him serious, now they want him to be a team player. The guys at the Daily Show became so pro-Hilary and dissed Bernie to no end. Hilary was the Crown Prince and he was cooky Uncle Joe from Vermont. He must be privately surprised with his great run. The DNC's nomination process is really messed up and I can understand why Bernie is so mad. He's been racking up states but Hilary's getting the delegates. Hilary had better make peace with Uncle Bernie and get his endorsement otherwise Melania Trump can start picking out presidential dinner gowns 1 Like |
