The Head of Department of General Studies, Nigerian Institute of Journalism, Dr. Dele Omojuyigbe has described the invasion of the National Assembly by security operatives as "unconstitutional."



He said it barely 24 hours after Nobel Laureate Professor Wole Soyinka expressed similar displeasure over the incident.

Speaking to our correspondent at his office on Wednesday, Omojuyigbe said, "The action is demeaning as a deliberate affront on the legislature as an institution.

"It also shows the level of disrespect for the office of the speaker.IGP SULEIMAN ABBA

"The lawmakers were carrying out their legitimate duties of representing the masses,'' he stated.

‘’It will be recalled that police, suspectedly carrying out the orders of the Inspector-General of Police, Suleman Abba when they stormed the NASS, thereby throwing teargas canisters after they failed in their bid to preventing the speaker from accessing the chambers,’’ he Added..COM
