The All Progressive Congress, APC Cross River State Chapter has concluded its State House of Assembly and governorship primaries across the state.

The House of Assembly primaries which held across the respective state constituencies on Tuesday 2nd December, 2014 produced the following as party flagbearers for the 2015 general election: Akwaji Omang Henry: Bekwara, Effiong Ekarika Jimmy: Calabar South 1, Bassey Ita: Calabar South 2, Tina Enyum: Abi, Cletus Etim Okpa: Akamkpa 1, Ntufam Polycarp E: Akamkpa 2, Okon Nyong Effiom: Akpabuyo, Etim Okon: Bakassi, Odu Thomas Busa: Boki, Richard Ambo Edet: Calabar Municipality, Eyong Ikwa: Biase, Ekuri Mercy Ofa: Etung, Charles Ojong Alimbi: Ikom 2, Matthew Nkang Bakin: Ikom 1, Ajil Anna: Obanliku, Alex Irek: Obubra.

Others include: Stella Ashiboye Akpeke: Obudu, Ekpenyong Bassey: Ayi: Odukpani. Sunday Eteng: Yakurr 1, Bassey Utum: Yakurr 2, Angella Odey: Yala 1, Martins Achagu: Yala 2 while that of Ogoja has not been disclosed as at the time of filing this report.

In the governorship primaries, delegate of the party elected Mr. Odey Ochicha as the party’s gubernatorial flag bearer for the 2015 general election.

Ochicha polled a total of 1177 votes to trounce his closest rival Barr. Lazarus Undie who polled a paltry 168 votes leaving Dr. Mike Ogar in distant third position with 48 votes.

CrossRiverWatch was told by Dr. Odey Oyama Chairman Electoral Committee, Calabar South 1 Constituency that the elections across the state were free and fair maintaining that the ruling party, PDP has a lot to learn from the exercise to make the society grow.
