How could you be so careless, woman?? You seriously need to take him/her to the hospital for proper examination. BTW: All I want in this coming election (as a Statesman wey I be) is for PDP candidates to win in all APC-controlled states and for APC to win in all PDP-controlled states. With that, the in-coming Chief Executives would have no other choice than to perform - more than the previous Chief Executive. Then at the centre...Buhari! This is the beauty of democracy; this is the reason why a strong opposition is needed for the masses to easily get the dividends of democracy; this is the reason why America wants to destabilize Nigeria, using Boko Haram and Ebola. They know the sleeping giant is about to wake up from her slumber; they know one day,Nigeria will rival them (America ) - considering the human and natural resources at our disposal. GOD BLESS NIGERIA!!! |

All of you calling OP careless are insensitive... I don't have a child just yet, soon sha, but I'v been privileged to help nurse a friend's new born...that experience still remains with me.. If any of you have truly nursed a new baby, you'll know its no child's play especially with no help...maybe OP just got the opportunity and doozed off for a few minutes, (body no be wood na) and this happened.... Like other sensible and sensitive people have advised OP, please check baby with a doctor just to be certain all is well. Jisike nwanne madu! God is your strength o. 12 Likes |

@ OP, if the baby is not crying uncontrolably and is active as normal, then all is well. careful next time biko nnu? Ok o OP dem doctors say no PCM o. Just watch that child for any sliggish behavior, as soon as you notice that the child isnt as active as he used to be, just head to the doctor and report the mater. Its well. Both my kids fell from our bed when they were babies. Thank God they are doing ok. E nor easy to be a parent o. Nnsobu plenty for parenthood. |

Re: My One Month Child Fell, Please Advise by repogirl(f): 3:13pm On Dec 15, 2014 |
Its not advisable giving a one month old paracetamol, their organs are still too tender to process drugs and you risk damaging their liver. Your baby may be fine because he is little with underdeveloped bones but since you saw blood somewhere I would advice you see a doctor, just to be double sure that the baby is fine. |
Re: My One Month Child Fell, Please Advise by Nobody: 3:16pm On Dec 15, 2014 |
How high is the bed from the floor? Generally babies are more flexible and do not suffer ill effects from falling (I guess God created them that way knowing that the mum of a newborn is ALWAYS exhausted and mistakes will happen). If he was in any pain, he would have been screaming blue murder by now, don't worry. But to be on the safer side, take him to a hospital just to check. Will help to ease your mind too. BTW, nix the paracetamol. Not good for babies. |

trustedward: Stop making the poor woman scared joor. Do u know how many times my restless younger sister fell when she was a baby? Plenty times and she's as strong as ever. @op. You can take that baby for check up and explain what happened to the doc. Hear what he has to say 1 Like |

cutesonia: There's no need for confusion, just calm your nerves , am pretty sure you must have taken him to your doctor by now but if you haven't make sure you do even if he looks okay , he's a strong child so he's just fine . |
Re: My One Month Child Fell, Please Advise by touchmeder: 3:27pm On Dec 15, 2014 |
It is well; the other day another person complained of something like this and it made front page. Madam take your baby for check up and please let the baby sleep in his own cot henceforth. All the best. |
Re: My One Month Child Fell, Please Advise by madgoat(m): 3:33pm On Dec 15, 2014 |
Take him to ur doctor just as a precaution. I know its very stressful being a mum to a newborn and i know how tiring it can be but u really need to be more careful in future. Wat happend has served as a wake up call. N. B. AS one poster rightly pointed out, dnt ever sleep wt ur newborn on d same bed cos u can easily roll ontop of him if u sleep soundly. My wife and i always quarrelled over diz issue. She was in d habit of putting him on d bed in d early hours of d morning. I av also warned her never to put him on d couch or bed coz someone might just come into d room or sitting room and sit on him absent mindedly. She uses d cot for him most times now. 1 Like |

Observe the baby carefully, check head, body, and limbs for any bleeds or broken bones(kids don't really fracture that easy cos bones are still so soft)..Look for any swelling.Normally, you use an icepack wrapped in a towel to help with bumps. If baby is more tired than usual, vomitting, drowsy,or breathing funny or maybe bleeding/fluid from ear mount a broom and fly to hospital.. Many kids fall and don't have significant injuries but you have to be more careful as baby is still very tender. Pele. |

OP I guess this is your first child. I noticed its the male folks calling her careless and all. dont blame u guys u think being a mother is easy try watching a month old baby for 3 hrs OP just monitor the baby but if it ever happens again please dont give the baby any drugs as they mask symptoms and dont let the baby fall asleep for a while to enable you monitor for any changes in temperature ,eyes and behaviour . I can imagine you napped off while trying to get your baby to sleep next time please do that on the floor ok. I can bet if you go to the hospital you will be told to monitor for any changes and the baby will be fine. All the Best OP |

@cutesonia. The most important question that've been asked you here is; What's the distance between the bed/sofa and the floor?. Which you've not answered yet. Until you answer that question nobody here can tell how serious your case. |
Re: My One Month Child Fell, Please Advise by EbolaParasite: 3:43pm On Dec 15, 2014 |
cutesonia: Please see a a doc immediately. Even as an adult, if you hit any part of your body on the floor after falling, you can develop internal injuries. Looking fine on the outside does not equate to everything being fine inside. Get a baby crib and ALWAYS PUT your baby in the crib. Do not sleep on a bed with your baby. It is recommended that you never sleep on the same bed/couch with your baby. REASON : You can KILL/Suffocate your child. It has happened several times. You do not want to be part of the statistics. Get a SEPARATE CRIB FOR YOUR BABY ASAP. |
Re: My One Month Child Fell, Please Advise by Nobody: 3:49pm On Dec 15, 2014 |
repogirl: Are u sure about this? I know of a 8 day old baby boy who was given paracetamol on the day of circumcision to ease his pains. |

Re: My One Month Child Fell, Please Advise by repogirl(f): 4:16pm On Dec 15, 2014 |
deemdeem:I am very sure, paracetamol is usually the last resort. Nurses would advice exposure and bathing first. I have a son and he wasn't given paracetamol during his circumcision. Just ointment and a sitz bath, that was all. I'm not saying it shouldn't be given but this OP gave it as preventive which is wrong. You should wait to see if the temperature is rising, bath first and expose a bit, I prefer to dry mop with a face towel. If all this fails, which it rarely does, I would then administer paracetamol. |
