Truckpusher:clueless. So, it is now the DSS that runs Total affairs. Let them employ the Ogbonda now if they feel like she should still be in employment. she was not sacked because she was transferred to Lagos but because she went against the company policy on issues best known to them. the DSS is now the body telling companies to employ, sack, re-instate or transfer people. No wonder they are VERY 1 Like |

doctokwus:Our Labour Union leaders are infamous for using the labour as a tool to further their own selfish interest. Why is the staff protesting redeployment? Is it not to preserve her "coveted" PENGASSAN position? What is the Business with DSS? Is DSS now the Ministry of Labour or Ministry of Petroleum? Is the DSS now NNPC? Why can't the woman go to the National Industrial Court if she feels she was ill-treated? These government people are clowns 2 Likes |

good day people, i stumbled on this post and people's comments, and i realise that we are really not knowledgeable about security matters in this country with respect to functions of security agencies. First let me use america as a case in point. The CIA functions to provide intel on cases that affect American security and interest home and abroad most especially abroad. The FBI and homeland security are concerned about internal threats so when you have protests, riots and random violence, this is when they come in. They assess the threats and look at the causes of these internal problems, because be it as it may a little issue as workers strike has the potential of boiling over to acts of random violence so they need to assess the threats and look at the severity of the issue before taking the next line of action. Now coming to the Nigerian case oil is a highly strategic resource and any issue such as workers strike in that sector has the potential of spilling over into a national crisis almost similar to the arab spring, hence the DSS need to assess the impact of the strike. Please people whenever we want to criticise agencies let us try to understand their functions first before passing judgement. I rest my case. 4 Likes |

AKUNWATA1:If DSS knew its job description and knows what rule of law means,d guildin principle dt makes society modern, it shd av referred pengassan to d industrial court,d agency properly constituted to settle industrial matters. But no,since every uniformed agency in a clueless govt wt impunity like second skin, wants to play tin god; d DSS decides to invite d head of an organisation to explain internal, executive board decisions. 2 Likes |

laBarca: Well said. People have the right to protest. What is the business of DSS and why are they compelling the management of total to sack a pengassan staff. There are serious issues that requires their attention. We are not in a dictatorship. Jonathan is just a wicked president or may I say this is the inner workings of president number 2 Diezani 2 Likes |

laBarca: My brother, I tire for this DSS. WTF! Like seriously that place needs to be shut down and new professionals recruited into it. What is the work of the industrial court? If I be judge for industrial court me sef go vex go arrest boko haram suspect... You would be mighty surprised that the industrial court would do a better job at curtailing terrorism in Naija. They cannot do any worse, anyway. 2 Likes |

My take on this. Bad journalism When did Elizabeth become total nigeria plc's MD. Total nig Plc is the downstream operation of total with its MD alexis volx, total downstream is entirely seperately from total upstream aka total exploration and production nigeria limited ( if our journalist can't get this simple fact straight, how sure are we the whole article isn't twisted) Insincere government You don't need a soothsayer to tell you nigeria is broke or going broke. I just hope this is not a ploy to increase pump price and then using all means to rope it on total's internal labour dispute DSS connection 3 Likes |

Boss13:Abi o. If the staff feel aggrieved or if DSS feel concerned all they need to do is to advise the PENGASSAN official to approach the National Industrial Court, that is vested with powers to intervene in such matters. They just want to be seen and heard. Who knows the interests they may be protecting? Maybe President Allison Maduweke has stake in this whole thing |

AKUNWATA1:bros don't get worked up about these people attitude just look at them like animals displaying their stupidityy ,their comments shows how bad the educational system in nigeria has gone, their brains can't comprehend the article so they just look at the heading and post rubbish. Because if those against this statement from ogar are normal thinking human beings and took time to read the article which I know is too complicated for them to understand, they will know and see that matters like this must have passed through pegassan legal department and it was pegassan that took the matter to dss not the other way round. If there is any objection to this move ,the objection should be directed at pegassann and not dss. 2 Likes |

tafabaloo: It is also part of their job description to be secretive. Nigerians are not interested in knowing whether total is firing a staff or not. What we know is that there is not fuel because there is scarcity. Rather than them resolve the issue they have started the blame game. |

This woman can't even hide her partisanship anymore. She is now actively invovled in spreading propaganda and other political shenanigans for her paymaster. I believe the dss has no correlation with labour groups, so why is she so brazenly fingerpointing at total for being responsible for the strike. She is a disgrace to the dss and should be expunged before she denigrates them any further. 1 Like |

May a Meteor land and Selectively Roast the Policy Makers of this Country to Death! I can't believe Nigeria has no STRATEGIC BACKUP PLAN! 3yrs Ago, We saw the Egyptian Govt direct the Army to bake enough BREADS to feed the People of Egypt and stabilize Bread prices when there was a Shortage resulting from Strikes, Poor Wheat Harvest, Price Hikes etc! Eventually, the Price of Bread plummeted and Egyptians knew they had a Govt! Every Country has a Strategic Reserve of Essential Commodities, ready to be deployed at the shortest Possible time! That is Why Japan, Philippines etc that suffer Tsunamis almost Yearly are still functional to this Day Does it mean if a bomb goes off in one TOTAL installation, Nigerians would have no fuel to buy? 170million People suffering because of one woman? What stops the Govt from quickly Deploying the Army to TEMPORARILY take over Fuel Distribution, pending when the issue is resolved, knowing how sensitive the Sector is to Nigeria? So the Govt does not realise that Scarcity of fuel is a NATIONAL EMERGENCY that can lead to steep rise in prices of Goods and Services in a Country having economic problems? I think this Govt has become too comfortable with out Complacency!!! Jeeeez!!! 1 Like |

laBarca:maybe you need to cross check the roles of the dss again, the last time I checked they are in charge of the internal security matters which included labour matters, it may interest to know tht they have playing a lot roles in averting industrial disharmony in acedemic institutions, companes etc. |

angelsing: I am not peddling and conspiracy.. Try and follow the demands of Pengassan and you will realise that the part the concerns Total has to do only with the sacking of that woman. And I know the full story behind that womans sack and it is well justified and no amount of lies will make Total change its position. Total has even released a press statement to this effect.. The rest of Pengassan demands are why I think they are targeting the president. Read the reasons for the strike and do the maths yourself. |

Truckpusher:Sensible one, tell me please if you are aware that we have a Ministry of Labour & NLC that she should have taken her case to and get a reprieve if she felt she was unjustly treated. If she used those avenues? what was the outcome?. If a person goes against the company policy and sacking her is an option, so the court can say don't sack her. Can you run your company like that. If somebody wins a zonal position, does that make the person immune from transfer? is it in any PENGASSAN law that a person elected into any position either in Zonal, National etc shouldn't be transferred by the company that will make him/her loss her position? She had the option of taking leave of absence, before she was transferred, if she knew that she wanted to focus on zonal issues but she didn't take it. All mouth will be quiet if the company goes outside their policy to publish her crimes in the dailies, but I know they will not succumb to cheap blackmail to achieve their aims and objectives. I am ashamed of National NUPENG body because Total in house had court issues throughout last year with one of their own that the National body was included in a law suit. But, for one day they did not send any representative to court throughout the period. who is deceiving who. Tell us something else. I have gone past using someone to influence other people. That is what they are doing. |

Ahmed4002: That woman na advanced crase woman o!! She has one mission in Nigeria:: Sanitize Total Nigeria.. She came from Total Indonesia and reports have it that she totally rocked their world. She cleaned up indonesia, handed over to an Indonesian (for the first time) and then arrived Nigeria to do same. Union has tested her resolve before and failed. She wouldn't shake on this matter either. The woman Pengassan is fighting for is a despicable character and represents all that is wrong with Nigeria. She is trying to use Pengassan influence to act with impunity. The old MD may have allowed that shiit slide, but not Proust. Make Pengassan park well.. 2 Likes |
