calebo101:
I was more concerned about his plans on fighting corruption cos i nor dey hear word since with Buhari-will fight-corruption-people. I dissected his response to those questions.

Question..... In your party, the APC, there are many people accused of corruption, so how do you first put your house in order and then deal with the hydra-headed issue of corruption?

*"We cannot go on the way we did in the military in 1983 to fight corruption"..
This is the main point of Buhari's propagandists that he would fight corruption but the man himself clearly has no idea how to do that in this modern Nigeria. First of all he admitted that he cannot act like he did in 1983 because this is a democratic regime and not 1983 where his word was law!!! He understood there are layers you have to go through.

*"So what you do is to persuade them and tell them to help to amend it"
Like really After all the propaganda of Buhari will fight corruption, this is all he would do, persuade?? Ok, lets move on.

*"part of these are in courts and you cannot interfere with the judiciary, no matter how bad you believe the judiciary is"
I commend Buhari for recognizing firstly that corruption is entrenched deeply in the whole system already. Like i always tell people, fighting corruption is not a day's job. Buhari would not be able to unless our constitution is totally purged and draconian laws with capital punishment inserted in it and in doing so the support of the Legislative (corruption personified agency) and Judiciary would be needed. Buhari recognizes these facts.

*"Cases that have been struck out, the government will move forward"
Some illiterates keep accusing Jonathan of hobnobbing with "criminals", whereas the law court has already acquitted them of any wrong doings. Buhari knows!!!

*"But to say that you are going to investigate, I am afraid that government will not last a quarter because the institutions have been compromised."
cheesy cheesy, there it goes. Buhari has no plan to fight corruption. He doesn't seem to have the magic wand like some people rant everyday and surprisingly despite his limited education he sounds more smarter than some peeps on this forum, i must say.

Question.....So there is no capacity to investigate corruption and what you are proposing is to draw a line going forward?

Answer........Yes, to be honest, the capacity is not there because as I said, institutions have been compromised but if you say I am not going to participate in corruption, I am not going to tolerate it from day one, I hope the people will believe it and those that have cases in court have to give way so that people that have not been caught because God help those caught helping themselves then. We can deal with them. But as I said, you cannot go head on as we did under the military.

*I still see no clear plan to tackle corruption, his presumed rallying point.

Question....... Essentially to understand you sir, so all these governors who are alleged to be corrupt, all these senators and others, you are drawing the line. Is that amnesty for corruption?

Answer........."The important thing is that I mentioned it, you don't have the capacity to catch the big thieves right now, you don't have the capacity. You have to do it gradually because, as I said before, all the institutions have been compromised".

*That statement is self explanatory.

Firstly, Buhari has no plan to fight corruption just because he simply cannot!!!

Secondly, He tactfully tried evading the question of what happens to his cronies and allies accused of corruption and he clearly insinuated they are FREE TO GO.

Thirdly if this is all he can say about fighting corruption then i have been right all the way. Buhari is stale without any plan. I know he himself would not be able to understand his economic blueprint because he has no idea what it means.

In conclusion, i do not know what change they keep shouting about.

GEJ till 2019!!!

Fvck you and your fvking spinning analysis. What did you expect Buhari to say? To say he would carry guns and start shooting corrupt officials? Are you this dumb?

Go ahead and vote for you clueless "I have no show" idio.t. By the way, when was the last time you had electricity at your house. I believe you are happy that billions have been voted for defence ministry but no weapon for the military to fight the terrorists. I believe you must be happy today that 54 soldiers were just sentenced to death because they refused to fight boko haram with bare hands without weapon. Their only offence was to ask the government to provide them weapon to fight and all of a sudden they have been asked to be put down like dogs. I believe it is fine with you that Boko Haram took away over 200 girls of 14-18yrs of age without any traces. I believe you are happy that our roads are death traps. I believe eleven job applicants died while attending bogus job exam after paying thousands of naira. I believe you are happy that someone who stole billions of naira for pension recipients ran away and the president said on national tv that the person escaped and he couldn't be located. I believe you are happy that Nigeria has ceded part of the country to Boko haram. I belive you believed Jonathan when he increased full prices from 97N to 120N with the promise that he would build refineries and provide public buses to all routes.

May almighty God work on your life, your father, mother, wife, sisters, brothers, uncles, cousins, the same way GEJ and PDP have worked on Nigeria's affairs since 1999.

I was about to sleep then stumbled on this thread. The sleep in my eye varnished and I read every word of the General. WOW! Nigeria pleasssssssseeee lets give Buhari a chance. This is the man we need right NOW. NOW OR NEVER. He so much understands the security situations and I believe he is in possession of intelligence. He probably has more intel than GEJ who is more or less a sitting duck who has lost all his respect.

FELLOW NIGERIANS, IS THIS THE PRESIDENT YOU DESERVE?
May the Judgment of God not befall us and our families if with
our votes we deliberately return a Govt of Hunger, corruption and
death to the Nigerian people. Kindly distribute through your BBM
and Whatsapp contacts, enough is enough!!
November 2014, Jonathan shocked Nigerians with the news that
Boko haram has taken control of 6 towns in 4 LGA’s the height of
incompetence in balkanizing the Nigerian state, a week later,
Nigerians were blown away by series of austerity measures
handed to them for their stupidity in 2011.
The naira was devalued at the pretext of drop in oil prices but
Nigerians never asked why the Naira never appreciated when the
oil price was increasing?
If the foreign reserve were not stolen, Nigeria would have
weathered the storm for at least 6months like we did during the
global melt down of 2004 and 2008, unfortunately, the
incompetence of the Jonathan administration has brought grave
consequence on the Nigerian people, Inflation and high cost of
energy are likely consequences.
According to Will Ross of the BBC “He said he hoped a
parliamentary investigation would also find out why the country's
Excess Crude Account had fallen from $11.5bn to under $2.5bn
in a year - arguing that Nigeria's savings are a vital buffer
against any drop in the global oil price and without this "rainy
day" account, the economy is vulnerable and exposed.
October 2014; Ladies and Gentlemen, the President of the Federal
republic of Nigeria uses a militant Asari Dokubo for black market
gun running, evident from the grounding and seizure of over $
10m by the South African authorities.
September, 2014, The Nigerian Government admitted ferrying over
$10m in a private jet for arms procurement, where do we draw
the line between money laundering and arms procurement? I
asked myself about the recent helos that was delivered by Russia
recently if it was purchased in the same manner, agree with me or
not, Jonathan is neck deep not just in corruption but money
laundering.
August 2014: As a result of the unabated corruption in the
Nigerian Military, Mutiny of July gave rise to Boko haram
declaring a caliphate on Nigerian Soil, Gentlemen and Ladies,
Jonathan Has once again made a history of Incompetence. Never
in the history of Nigeria have we ceded territories to bandits.
July 2014: saw a president who went to sleep while neighboring
West African countries battled with the Ebola virus, his
negligence paid off when Patrick Sawyer brought the deadly virus
to Nigeria unabated. Since August 2012, when the Ebola outbreak
began, The Nigerian govt had no single emergency response plan
in place.
$11m emergency fund and N480m budgeted for the control of
infectious diseases in the 2013 budget never got to the Lagos
state government, the Nigerian Ebola Epicenter.
Still in June, we saw the worst abuse of his Royal majesties
powers when he barred APC Governors from attending a rally in
Ekiti state with soldiers, meanwhile Boko Haram is still having a
field day in the North.
The senate revealed to Nigerians how the president Mis
appropriated over 685b kerosene subsidy fund
May 2014: left us with this shocking statement
“Jonathan, who was asked to comment on the allegations of
corrupt practices leveled against some of his ministers, had said
that nobody was above mistakes and that if he were to be acting
based on reports on each of them, “no one will stay for more than
six months in office.” Mere stealing we call corruption"
Still in the same month after the corrupt tales of embezzlement
and diversion of military budget, the clueless one finally offered
Amnesty to a terrorist group, the first of its kind, in the world.
An Indication that the Jonathan’s administration is run by a den
of thieves.
April 2014: reminded us the climax of Jonathan’s administration
where he went on a jamboree while book haram held over 200
young girls, hostage,
April never ended before the Dizeani madueke’s 10billion naira
scam reached a climax.
March 2014: just before the centenary celebration where Abacha
of all people was a beneficiary, scores of Innocent school children
were murdered in Adamawa sate.
Feb 2014: saw the illegal suspension of the CBN Gov.at a time
the nation was in dire need of foreign direct investment, the
Kidnap of the president’s foster father is a realistic score card on
his strides on security.
January 2014, a presidential committee was set up to investigate
the October scandal of stella odua who came with a guilty
verdict, yet she kept her job.
December 2013: ushered the yuletide of Obasanjo’s “before it is
too late”, several corruption allegations and the extremism of the
Jonathan’s administration, the impunity of plundering the people’
s common wealth and the tenacity of talking drums like Abati
who have earned a reputation in insulting the sensibilities of
Nigerians.10 bullet proof vehicles purchased by DICON for its top
brass
November 2013: the CBN Governor raised an alarm that under
Jonathan’s watch, the NNPC diverted $49billion dollars, fellow
Nigerians, are we not tired of condoning corruption?
October 2013 : ushered a month of corruption coronation in
Jonathan’s camp, where the Aviation minister coerced the NCAA
to purchase 2 fairly used armored 2008 BMW to the tune of $
800,000 each.
September 2013: President Jonathan took a record breaking 600
men entourage for the UN General assembly in New york
August 2013: After the billions of dollars spent in revamping the
nation’s airports, skytrax world airport ranking for Africa showed
Nigeria didn’t make it to top 10 in Africa neither did it make it
top 100th place in the world. Whereas Ethiopia and Mauritania
made it to position 9th and 8th respectively, what a shame.
July 2013: transparency international rated Nigeria as the 8th
most corrupt country in the world.
June 2013: World Bank appraised him thus;
“Nevertheless, improvements in social welfare indicators have
been much slower than would be expected in the context of this
growth. Poverty reduction and job creation have not kept pace
with population growth, implying social distress for an increasing
number of Nigerians. Progress toward the fulfillment of many of
the Millennium Development Goals has been slow, and the
country ranked 153 out of 186 countries in the 2013 United
Nations Human Development Index” the World Bank said.
May 2013: The president after wasting tax payer’s money on an
entourage as long as the third mainland bridge went sleeping
while his foreign affairs minister represented him in his presence
during the AU summit in Addis ababa.
Just outside President Goodluck Jonathan's office sat 17
ambulances, just in case he or one of his aides fell ill. They were
seldom if ever used.
No actual health-care facility nationwide had as many, and in
fact a few still have none at all. But as soon as a Nigerian
newspaper took a photo of the ambulances and published a story
about them, they suddenly disappeared -- probably to an
underground garage.
March, 2013: we witnessed the height of moral bankruptcy when
Mr President granted presidential pardon to the biggest criminal
in the history of our democracy, Alamesigha to prepare him for a
senatorial seat.
February 2013: amidst the short fall in crude prices, the president
smuggled into the 2013 budget a 2bn appropriation fund for the
office of the first lady
February 2013: the office of the presidency denied vehemently
that the first lady was on vacation in Germany only for them to
organize a survival party with tax payer’s money. Is this the kind
of leader you want to hold to his words?
In January 2013: the erst while madam due process and former
minister for education challenged the charlatans of jonathans’
administration to a debate on accountability of $67b as
expected, honorable cowards and pen thieves, absconded as
usual
November 2012: President Jonathan approved 2.2bn naira for
the construction of a banquet hall in the villa. At a time our debt
profile was all time high
As commander in chief, he stood dumb while a military helicopter
was used for "kabu-kabu" at oronto douglas father’s burial that
error in judgment alone claimed the life of a sitting Governor. and
the most brilliant NSA Nigeria has ever produced.
October 2012: blatantly refusing to appeal the ICJ’s decision on
ceding bakassi, thereby throwing Millions of Bakkasi indigenes
into pandemonium
refusing to cut down on foreign trips and cost of Governance,
contrary to his Nationwide address of 7th Jan 2012.
October 2012: Mr president’s administration spent 1.5 billion to
patch the 3rd mainland bridge, 4 months later, triple of that
amount was expended again on maintenance alone, Talk about
waste and incompetence
August 2012 : He said our foreign reserve is 42billion usd , is that
not only on iweala's notepad?
How can you have external debt of 48bn usd and come home to
deceive us that we have reserves?
How much services that 48bn plus interest annually? Nearly 25%
of 48bn.
August 2012: Under his watch militants earn 10% of the Nation's
revenue, $22.5m, $9m and $12.5m for tompolo, Ateke and Asari
as national honors.
He twisted facts during the Independence Day speech on his fight
on corruption, in contrast to what the transparency international
claimed.
By august 2012, 2012 budget implementation was just 13%
over 5, ooo Nigerian lives gone, Mr president is still trading
words and negotiating with boko haram, we remain grateful that
a quasi state of emergency came to be, at least I cant imagine an
SOE where the State Govs sit tight to control state funds while
the FG fight their battle.
July 2012 : its 3yrs gone and he is yet to commission from
scratch a new power plant worst still fired the only human being
in his cabinet who knows his onions in the power sector.
July 2012: Mr President earned a congratulatory message for
implementing local content policy by importing 200 luxury brands
at the cost of over 13.5 million each for a 4 day first ladies
summit. While our manufacturing industries beg for patronage.
June 2012: Almost all teaching hospitals in Nigeria have no
functional dialysis machine, the most sought of this equipment
cost just 5m naira. Statistics has it that more than 60,000
Nigerians die yearly of a kidney related ailment, however, he jets
out with his cohorts to seek medical help elsewhere.
ferma is seriously patching federal highways with a budget of
over 80 billion naira, there is no coordination between, the MND,
NDDC and Federal ministry of works on road maintenance, same
contract is awarded over and over before the job is done.
JUNE 2012 : Under his watch, the giant of oil and gas reserves is
undergoing its worst energy crisis in the world.
tanker drivers alone can cripple his supply network as they wish
not to talk of ordinary Niger republic coming to our rescue via
imports.
In case you have not heard, Nigeria is very close to Afghanistan
on security progress under Jonathan's watch.
June 2012: Education is in crisis. With adult literacy at 57 per
cent, overall illiteracy at 66 per cent and more than 10 million
out of the 30 million children of primary school age not in school,
no serious government should be comfortable. When 40 million
adults in a population of 170 million are illiterate, the country is
ranked 161 out of 180 countries in the United Nations
Comparative Index of Literacy 2012, and has an unemployment
rate of 23.7 per cent,
it’s no longer news that only 26% of school leavers gain
admission into the universities and only 5% are employed after
school thanks to ASUU’s 6 months strike.
June 2012: Mr president’s economic blind men have blessed us
with all time high of 37.5% inflation though his mickey mouse
cbn governor is still claiming 28%, wondering what he will be
claiming now that all bankers are at home, naira devalued,
unemployment on the rise etc He still maintains a single digit
inflation on paper, I dey laugh.
Mr president is the only Nigerian president that has not initiated
a successful programme even Abacha did better with ptf while
IBB with FSP and MAMSA, Mr president is still confused with
''YOU WIN''and SURE-P, with zero benefit to the Nigerian people.
on that same vein, Nigeria has the second record high job cuts
within the last 2yrs, if in doubt ask the bankers and
manufacturing industries.
before his ascension into power, the naira was in a sorry state of
150 to 1 dollar today, Jonathan has handed us an unstable 182
to 1 dollar
June 2012: The dana crash is a testimony that Mr president’s
aviation is comatose, not even the attorney general could
challenge the allegations of the dana staff in court, in a national
disaster of that magnitude?
The girl could have served as a prime witness in a class action
against dana
Less than 6months of inconclusive investigations, DANA air hit
the Tarmac again.
Still on military, Nigeria has the most under educated junior
military officers, before you ask how, Mr president is too lazy to
ask him self why imo with highest national examination
enrollments still have the least NDA and police academy
enrollments, while borno and zamfara as educationally less
privileged, have higher quota than Delta and Anambra put
together in military enrollments. Nepotism and corruption at its
best
Mr President is the only head of state in the world whose wife is
a ministry of its own.
January 2012: Under Mr president’s watch, a 250bilion subsidy
programme rose to 2 trillion naira yet no arrest, no conviction, no
sack, the best miserable Nigerians could get was an AWOL
attorney general after 7days of protests. Height of incompetence
and corruption.
Mr President is the only president in the world whose parliament
gulps 75% of the national budget as alleged by the CBN Gov. yet
they still soak themselves in $625m bribery scandal.
Jonathan has not even initiated let alone fulfilling a single
campaign promises except the one that he needs to surround
himself with brain dead women in his cabinet.
Nigerians say thank you Sir, for your 6 wasted years of

If you are elected president when the country is in great economic deficit, how will you turn things around and secure the economy?

I believe this country is still strong to make sure that we secure these areas as quickly as we can and re-establish confidence in ourselves, in the world and in our business partners. The capacity to do it rapidly, I am afraid, one has to know the total intelligence, one has to know where we are exactly before you can make a determined move to correct the situation. Really, it is a question of putting whatever we have available in terms of fighting capability to first secure that area, to earn the confidence of investors for them to quickly come back, because they can even organise soft loans for us to stabilise our budget deficits so that we move forward.

Still no economic clue

Anyone who bothered to read this article will see what I've been saying for a while now. Buhari clearly has no plan for Nigeria. The summary of all theses talks is simply that If and when he wins, he'll get to know how to handle Nigeria's problem in a situation where he has insiders in some government establishment and cajols them to tell the truth! He says Nigeria today is different from 1982 when he was in power as lot's of people have been compromised. I laugh!

Everyone is expecting a miracle. A buhari to come and wave a magic wand that will magically turn Nigeria to the place to be. Unfortunately, things don't work that way. I want buhari to win just to see the disappointment on the faces of his supporters if things don't dramatically change afte a few years in his government.

People seem to forget that this is a democracy and when he ruled in the 80's was a complete Military dictatorship. Truth is corruption thrives more in a democracy. You can never send someone to jail on mere suspicions of corruption. Every thing has to cloaked under the rule of law.

As I've said before, till that time comes when the average Nigerian overhauls his greed and selfishness tinged thinking, we will never move forward as as country.
The problem is not Jonathan, his hands are tied, so will the hands of Buhari if he wins ( Which I greatly doubt).

Nigeria's arch problem is not corruption
corruption is only a symptom of the arch problem
Nigeria's arch problem is political chauvinism.
Corruption will disappear naturally when we all rule our country together as one people
and chauvinists stop trying to internally colonize the country.
What is Corruption and what is Political chauvinism? 6 and half dozen? shouting that the North has been in power since and promoting another Ikwere (Nyesom Wike) to be next governor in a multi tribal state like Rivers? Buhari is an ordinary citizen, which means: he has as much power to stop Boko Haram as you do.

Now tell me, how---given whatever power you have at your disposal right now in life--- can you effect a stop to the terrorist menac?

Whatever action you decide on is EXACTLY what Buhari too can do because neither of you is Commander In Chief of all the Security Agencies in the country.

So tell us: How do YOU intend to stop Boko Haram from your bedroom?

Essentially to understand you sir, so all these governors who are alleged to be corrupt, all these senators and others, you are drawing the line. Is that amnesty for corruption? Don't you think that you are also being a victim of your past, that something you did successfully, that because you were criticised, you are now afraid to do it again?

No, I am not afraid. If I was afraid the day they attempted to bomb me, I would not have felt like continuing. But I felt I have done nothing wrong other than telling the truth where I find it serious enough to tell the truth. The important thing is that I mentioned it, you don't have the capacity to catch the big thieves right now, you don't have the capacity. You have to do it gradually because, as I said before, all the institutions have been compromised. Do you know that I said it about 18 months ago, I think it was at a book launch where I said in my own area in Nigeria, people hardly go to the police. If they are cheated or something, once they are alive, they say 'God dey' and they continue with life because they cannot afford justice, they cannot get it. Virtually the whole country has reached that stage.

How do you reconcile your party’s position to ensure zero tolerance for corruption with the approach you have decided to adopt on corruption?

No, I said that as far as corruption is concerned I will not tolerate it from the day I take charge of governance. But those cases that are in courts, they will continue but as we move forward, cases that come up will be handed over to the judiciary. So can we deal with security without tackling corruption? When you came to power last time, you were known for your fight against corruption. Today, it’s a different kind of fight. In your party, the APC, there are many people accused of corruption, so how do you first put your house in order and then deal with the hydra-headed issue of corruption?

I think the priority has to be the other way round, we have to put the country in order first. In attempting to put the country in order, it is going to be a terrible situation for whoever wins and I pity whoever succeeds President Jonathan, even if it were to be myself. But this is what we can do; the practical way to tackle corruption is to draw a line, because institutions have been compromised. We cannot go on the way we did in the military in 1983 to fight corruption. This time around, you cannot do it that way because most of the institutions have been compromised. The person you will depend on as the auditor to go and check the CBN, maybe he has got some substantial part of the deal. These are the facts on the ground. So what you do is to persuade them and tell them to help to amend it. You have drawn a line, part of these are in courts and you cannot interfere with the judiciary, no matter how bad you believe the judiciary is. Constitutionally or otherwise, you have to leave the judiciary, you cannot bring better judges and put them on the job over night. It takes generations. So you have to appeal to their conscience and prove to them that you are serious and that cases in the courts that you are interested in them but let the judiciary continue. Cases that have been struck out, the government will move forward but any case that comes up will be handed over to the judiciary. But to say that you are going to investigate, I am afraid that government will not last a quarter because the institutions have been compromised.

So there is no capacity to investigate corruption and what you are proposing is to draw a line going forward?

Yes, to be honest, the capacity is not there because as I said, institutions have been compromised but if you say I am not going to participate in corruption, I am not going to tolerate it from day one, I hope the people will believe it and those that have cases in court have to give way so that people that have not been caught because God help those caught helping themselves then. We can deal with them. But as I said, you cannot go head on as we did under the military.

I don't get moved by sentiments. He should help the present govt. To achieve a unanimous goal of moving the country forward and not clamouring for power.
I think sentiments is when you pretend not to know that GMB has never mince words in condemning BH, when you fail to upbraid elected official when they have deliberately failed in their responsibilities because they are your 'person';when you support hooded unknown armed persons to assume security n thug responsibilities as regards Osun elections and want GMB to 'help' how?; when you destroy democratic tenets by saying 7 or 16 is greater than19 and wants saner Nigerians to take the cross;or is it when both our security reports and d international comm. have linked Alimodu serif to BH, and our GEJ is protecting him from mere investigation NOT prosecution n you want GMB to help; or what is the definition of sentiment sir? because I no too go school like that but Nlanders ll help me out.

this is the vintage Buhari that I know, precise, honest and straight to the point. No pretense or desire to deceive or portray himself to be what he is not.

A nice read and educative for those who will read without the burden of bigotry and primordial sentiments.
I support Goodluck Jonathan but reading this interview has somewhat changed my opinion of Buhari, maybe he's not so bad after all, i'll research more before making a decision to vote. thanks for sharing the article

The truth about Buhari is that people rarely try to know him rather they base their view of what political opponents paint him to be.

Do your research, take an unbias and informed opinion based on your own personal conviction.

yet he cannot afford a house in Abuja?
Rarely travels abroad?
His daughter died in Nigerian hospital instead of being flown abroad for treatment?
Unable to fund his election campaigns?
Why has he not started spending this $2.8Bn even after 40yrs?

Lets not forget that Thief O(basanjo) was military ruler in 1975. Thief O's huge Ota farm sprang up as soon as he handed power to Shagari 1979.

The allegations of missing $2.8Bn were made by Thief O's loyalists in 1980 to deflect attention from Thief O

Running away from the Camera? Are you sure you didn't just arrive from the moon? Shekarau, Buhari and Ribadu appeared for a debate in 2011 the only absentee was your Jesus of otueke.

Is the truth that difficult to find out for you.
