Nigerians must know what is happening at present
in Oluwole LSDPC Estate, Ogba-Ojodu LCDA in
Ikeja.
Some miscreants invaded the Estate & vandalized
vehicles, especially TOYOTA BRANDS. Items
allegedly removed from the Vehicles are the BRAIN
BOXES.. The Vandalization was not limited to the
Estate alone, but extended to other adjoining
Residential Areas like Sogunro Estate & the number
of vehicles vandalized are said to be in the region
of 30vehicles.
The matter was reported to the "AreaG " Police
Command, being the nearest Police Formation. The
response of the Police was to invade the Estate
last night. Mass Arrests were carried out of both
the Residents & people that were in the Estate at
the time respectively. Those arrested were
allegedly extorted to the tune of ten thousand
Naira to gain their Freedom & the Officer that co-
ordinated the Operation is alleged to be theArea
Command Crime Officer, one ASP BIMBO. We were
reliably informed that those who could not provide
the ransom money stated above were herded to a
Court this morning but for the fact that there was
no Court that was in Session, some of them would
have been cooling their heels either in Kirikiri or
Ikoyi Prisons respectively, by now.
The most pertinent question agitating my mind, as
I type these is that, is Lagos State under a State of
Emergency now that warrants the Police to
ARREST INDISCRIMINATELY under the guise of
reacting to a case of Vandalization of Cars ? Most
of the Victims arrested are Residents of the
Estate& those that had been freed so far, are non-
Residents that were able to pay for their respective
Freedom.
All attempts to speak to the Area Commander of
"Area G" by this Writer were rebuffed by his
minions. I am using this medium to call on the
Lagos State Police Commissioner to kindly wade
into the matter urgently. Justice denied is Justice
delayed.
Our children are now being made to suffer unjustly
because of this indiscriminate Arrests. The
perpetrators of the Crime will not perpetrate their
heinous Crimes at 9pm that the Police invaded the
Estate. It is my firm belief, and this is shared by
Residents of the Estate that, they carried out their
nefarious activities in the wee hours of the morning
when majority f Residents must have been in their
rooms &/or beds.
This is a clarion call on the Authorities of the
Lagos Police Command, to expeditiously wade into
the matter & mitigate unnecessary sufferings by
our children that are unjustly being Detained by the
Police, simply because they do not have the
wherewithal to BAIL themselves in a Democratic
dispensation.

Now, this is the reality on ground that attests to the sorry state of things in Nigeria.

One thing I need say however is that that facebook advert or Nairaland upload will not solve the problem. The affected persons should write petitions to the CP or even the IGP and state all the relevant facts to back up their claims. We need to rise up against oppressions by police and other law enforcement agencies in this Country. But rather than rise up to the occasions by making these guys realise that we will no longer tolerate their excesses and they should stop these high handedness and exploitations and maltreatment of innocent citizens, we tend to bury our heads in the sand and cry like helpless and hopeless people.

We also need to be suing the police for such and the so called police officers in their personal capacities as well, particularly as they were acting outside the colour of their office, and were therefore acting illegally and without proper authority. My humble contribution.
