National Chairman of the Peoples Demo­cratic Party (PDP), Adamu Mu’azu has urged Nigerians not to vote for the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Muhammadu Buhari, in next year’s presidential election, stressing that the former military leader will bring back dictatorship in the country.

Expressing fears in a statement that a Buhari presidency would throw Nigeria back to the dark days of military dictatorship, Muazu said, “There are many reasons why Nigeria must not return to a quasi military dictatorship led by a warlord whose democrat­ic credentials are suspect.

“It is also important to know that the power of the President is awesome and if you give it to a man who is not coolheaded leader like President Jonathan, he will certainly throw the country into chaos at any time.”

He extolled the qualities of President Jonathan, describing him as “a tested and trusted democrat who is well experienced in running democratically elect­ed government having been elected as a deputy governor, governor, vice president and now president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

The statement further reads in part: “General Buhari is the product of military dictator­ship that cannot operate in a free country,” stating that he is unlike President Jonathan who at all times favours dia­logue and persuasion which are the hallmark of democratic governance.

“We don’t want a combative presi­dency, which would be busy witch-hunting perceived en­emies for trumped charges, then jail them for 200 years. If you read his acceptance speech you will note the lan­guage employed showed that direction his government will focus. The choice before Ni­gerians in 2015 is quite clear. Do you want a transforming leadership or a retrogressive return to a quasi-military dic­tatorship clad in democratic toga or do you want an en­vironment of human right abuses where people live in fear? Yet it is supposed to be democratic setting.

“All the gains of the past years will be lost when auto­cratic regime that General Bu­hari is known for takes over power in Nigeria,” explaining that this is the choice Nigeri­ans will have to make in the February 2015 Presidential election,” said the PDP chairman.

He emphatically enjoined Nigerians to be careful before casting their votes, adding that what the nation needs is a giant leap into democratic governance and not a return to the ‘jack boot’ era where military personalities held sway in politics.

It's when over 200 girls are kidnapped and you deny its reality!


It is when the army you command wake up one morning and decide to impound newspapers cos the stories don't favour them and you kept quiet!

It is watching regions in a country you oversee decimated by a ragtag group of individuals and you sit down and feast!

It is having a wife who feels it's her place to summon the IG of police and ministers at her will!

It is choosing to use a commissioner of police to attempt to ridicule a state governor because he doesn't tow your line!

It is declaring a person with 9 votes winner and 16 votes loser!

It is granting pardon to a convicted criminal and fugitive from the law (alams)

It is giving power to a drug pusher running from the law just because you want to spite your perceived enemy.

This is dictatorship and this is what we've seen in the past four years. Nigeria should not fear Buhari. They should fear the clownish devil currently in Aso Rock.
