he sounds the same most times.
The main thing in music is adjusting to suit what people really want.
If you want to rap hard-core and still make money, just relocate out of 9ja cos you will never sell here.

How can you try selling American culture to Nigerians?
If you are versatile, you will surely learn to tweak your music to appeal anyways!

I disagree with you..
Nigerians just have to accept the culture...

we have the likes of ice-prick and commercial rappers in u.s too..e.g 2 chainz drake e.t.c.
we have hard core too -- Eminem... Talib..common... they are all appreciated...

why is the case different in Nigeria? don't tell me because rap is not a Nigerian thing, because rapping is African

his rap is not commercial, he should try and listen to his fans. Sometimes is good to follow the trend,so that he will not be left out. I know he has punch line but not badder than vector or m.i.
His music sound all the same and his music lack growth.

What do you know about Rap music?

M.I? Vector? Punchlines? Now listen to me, B!tch...

He would have gone commercial if he wanted to. He chose the "hard-core" sub-genre and stuck to it.

A lot of underground Rappers out there in the states were better than Tupac and Biggie but chose not to "come out". A lot are better than Nas, Jay-Z, Rick ross but still choose not to come out of their shells.

There're codes that guide underground rappers, you know. Codes you'd never fathom!

Girle oo! You know about rap music so? because if u do ,u wudnt say that,it takes refined mind to grasp Mode 9's kind of rap.
I know about rap music.
we know African American originated rap music, but in other part of the world rapper try to infused their culture and style in hip hop, but in the case of mode 9 he sound so Americanize.
I call that plagiarism, trying to sound like a rapper from new York.
mode 9 is not creative and music is about creativity, when I hear his music he sound lame and doesn't grow.
hardcore for example is bobby shmurda.....hip hop is improving, we are not in the 1990s any more.

boy bye

Modenine isnt loved very much in the industry.
He has a very bad bad bad personality and that is the main reason he hasnt gone far.
Even if he isnt selling albums, if the industry got love for you, you will make some money.
You will host big shows, you will be invited for concerts as a vip guest et al.
He uses people alot.

He is just a bitter mofuka.

GBAM!!!! Extremely arrogant

e don do na.. okay... I thought tupac did songs related to activism mainly..I don't have many of his songs.. I prefer Biggie ... funny enough I have California ft.Dr Dre but it doesn't sound danceable to me.. lol
Guy, for your level, you don't have many of pac's jams. Shoo! Well it's true he do more of activism tracks but listen to tracks like 'toss it up, I get around, gangstas party etc

VERSATILITY is the game of the art.

Even banky W a RnB singer now raps, wizkid does Rnb, afro beat, hip hop n stuff, dont be suprise to see
Olamide release a total RnB track.

What am saying is this, to stay relevant in d game u just have to change MODE(s) oga. MODE 9 is stale
Try 7,8,2,4 anything to show u versatility. U can release an album of 20 singles, keep 10 comercial keep the rest U, u go still sell.

*in NAS voice* hip hop is dead.

lol ..am a smart businessman and entrepreneur

all I need do is get patoranking or tiwa savage or WizKid or davido sing a nice chorus..
and I will rap is..

yo am fresh/ yo am fresh..
I will repeat that line throughout the song..as long as its danceable... am sure it will sell in Nigeria grin

The bolded is a simple way to get connected with 9ja fans.
sing on a hard-core afrobeats beat, and let's see if he wouldn't buy a Range in 12 months.
Why is it taking mode9 years to learn?

Remember his "Nigerian girls" hit track?
at that point Nigerians were feeling him! simply because he made a Nigerian song.

Make a song Nigerians can relate to!

Like skales, skales noticed his hip-hop rap wasn't selling so he went commercial. All na for bread

[quote author=juanmata post=29146235]I remember when he was interviewed on phone in a radio station at Enugu. The presenter said Your fans on twitter are sending in the shout outs, they said your album is Cool. Mode 9 : Tell them to stop disturbing me with their tweets and buy my album. Lol, it was funny but I was shocked. [/quot

Typical Mode nine........how does one grow with such disrespect to your fans? What has kept Tuface,Jimmy Jatt and co relevant is not just their music........its more

he does songs people relate too also...

if you read and are knowledgeable, you would understand ...

you are already having a brain fatigue from listening to mode nine.

how bout if you listen to Canibus..then you will have brain tumour ...

Rap is for the literate and enlightened
cannibus is broke so is modo. They are both good rappers tho but their music are not of quality productions. The beats they rap to are always boring and wack. Only when modo got nice productions for naija girls, cry, badman and some classic songs he was relevant. The whole lyricist shit got to his head, started rapping on lame productions thinking he is hip-pop. It's going to get more broke if he doesn't re-strategize.

I find it really absurd when people say we cant understand mode 9 because his lines are way over our heads, music is suppose to be universal, it is meant to be enjoyed by all sundry irrespective of societal differences, so if a rapper who wants to make money off music cant make a decent single that would play on the radio for months on end, then it isn't the fault of the people, its his lack of creativity and probably a morbid fear of turning commercial and making money.
