HOW TO CHECK THE CAR'S GENERAL WORKING CONDITION?

Every vehicle's page contains basic information on the vehicle's condition that can be found in VEHICLE INFORMATION.
The badge is green and says ‘Run & Drive’ for cars that can move on their own; blue and says ‘Engine Starts’ for cars that have a functional engine, but have problems with transmission/wheels/undercarriage etc. that prevent them from moving on their own; red and says ‘Non-drivable’ for cars that are mechanically not functional.

Issues Can Effect time of Transportation

Auction Vehicles: If the vehicle is purchased from an auction the selling party has up to 30 days to turn in the title/ownership for the vehicle. This can cause significant delays for the shipping process as the vehicle will not be picked up until the title/ownership is present. Please ask an Auction Export representative if the vehicle title/ownership is present prior to purchase to avoid this delay.

Overground Delivery duration: Certain areas of the U.S.A. have a seasonal or yearly low traffic volume increasing the amount of time elapsed between vehicle purchase and delivery to the warehouse or port. States with low traffic volume include, but are not limited to, Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, and Oklahoma. Delays can also occur due to bad weather conditions in the winter months. Please note that other potential delays can occur from truck breakdowns which are rare but unavoidable.

Snowbird Effect: During the pre-winter months of October and December many retirees move their cars and furniture to Florida to spend the winter in a warmer climate. This limits the amount of empty trucks moving South along the Eastern shore of the U.S.A. To ports in Georgia and Florida causing the potential delays for vehicle delivery to ports and warehouses. This trend is reversed in the pre-summer months.

Port Delays: Please be aware that delays can sometimes occur during the winter months when the ports are closed or there is lack of available containers due to bad weather conditions.
Please note, NJ customs are overburdened due to very high volume, and delays with documentation are not uncommon. When shipping RORO there may be delays due to the large volume the shipping line is experiencing, in this case, the vehicle will be loaded onto the next vessel with available cargo space.

GROUND TRANSPORTATION

Also known as land transportation, is used to haul vehicles from its current pick up location to either exit warehouse or exit port. Vehicles are transported on flat beds, open trailers or enclosed trucks. It all depends on what the client prefers and is willing to pay, since enclosed trucks usually have a higher cost. All of our trucks offer ground insurance in case of certain incidents, but we also offer additional insurance at an additional cost.
Re: How to Ship your Car from North America to Nigeria! by Export1: 8:10pm On Mar 22, 2017
RORO

Mostly known as the roll-on/roll-off shipping method, this service is highly used mainly for its simplicity and fast handling operation.

How it works: All type of wheeled cargo such as automobiles, trucks; trailers, etc are driven on and off the ship. These ships are designed to load this type of self-propelled, towable or forklift cargo.

RORO: The majority of countries offer the regular RORO service, but some destinations offer: RORO towable and forklift service for an additional charge. Please note it does not include ocean insurance.
Re: How to Ship your Car from North America to Nigeria! by Export1: 11:00am On Mar 23, 2017
CONTAINER

Containers have standardized (fixed) dimensions. You can usually find the most common sizes: 20', 40', 40'HC (high cube), 45', 48' and 53' available from all exit ports, but some shipping lines may not offer all sizes to specific destinations.

How it works: Our certified drivers will pick up your vehicle from its current location and deliver it to our exit warehouse. Once the vehicle arrives, pictures will be taken and uploaded on your profile. Depending on the shipping option chosen, your vehicle will be loaded either by container consolidation towards our clearing agent as soon as more of our other client's vehicles are ready. Or we will wait on the rest of your vehicles to arrive in the case you are doing your own container. Usually vehicles are loaded in a 40' with 3 more cars aside from yours. Making it a 40' with 4 cars.

HOW CAN I KNOW THE TOTAL COST OF MY PURCHASE?

BUY NOW or BID prices that you can see online don’t include fees and transportation cost to your destination.

These charges can be different, as they’ll depend on the particular car you’ll choose online (its price, condition, source the car comes from and current location)

Approximate TOTAL COST of the car can be calculated on the car’s page:

Choose the vehicle that you like and under BID/BUY NOW price you’ll see AUCTION FEE calculator. By changing your possible maximum bid, it’s possible to calculate approximate charges that will be added.

Scroll to the bottom and find SHIPPING CALCULATOR. There you can choose preferable destination and see approximate quote for delivery.
NOTE full cost of transportation will include Ground and Ocean

We offer different shipping options (CONTAINER and RO-RO), particular option will be used depending on the condition of the car. For exact shipping quote please email shipping@auctionexport.com

Thus, TOTAL COST of each vehicle will include: Price (BID/BUY NOW) + fees + transportation cost.

IMPORTANT, if you have a deposit in your account, please contact your sales agent to confirm exact total charges prior to making a purchase.

AIR SHIPPING

Have you ever thought on having your car in less than two weeks transit time? Our air shipping service can assist you with that!

How it works: Our shipping department will provide you first with a quote and possible scheduled routes for the flight. Once confirmed, one of our licensed drivers will pick up your vehicle and deliver it to the exit airport. Please note that we also offer enclosed truck service at an additional cost per client's request. Once the vehicle is at the exit port, the airline will confirm the flight # after your car has cleared customs and we will provide you with all tracking information when your car is on route.

SHIPPING CALCULATOR

* All shipping prices are estimates.
Please beware that all vehicles going by RORO must be run and drive and not have extensive damage. Please note certain conditions may apply. In the event these are unable to be shipped by RORO, container consolidation and/or RORO towable may also be available to some destinations. Shipping prices are for sedans and mid size SUV's only, please check shipping cost prior to the purchase for all other vehicle types.
Please contact our Transportation Department shipping@auctionexport.com for exact shipping costs.

Import Process

General Information
Please, contact your designated clearing agent before the vessel arrives to get more information about clearing and local charges.
Please note that Auction Export does not handle clearing at destination. For more information about customs please click on the following link (https://www.customs.gov.ng)

Several useful tips:
Please note that generally, RORO service is faster than container and overall port charges are lower at the destination, however please note that not all vehicles are eligible for RORO shipping. Please contact our shipping department to find out if the car you are buying is eligible for RORO.
The port authority issues a "Car Condition Report on each vehicle" once it arrives. We ask our clients to confirm such condition report matches the criteria of your vehicle.
Please make sure that you keep your vehicle condition report once the car arrives to the destination. This can be requested from the shipping line at the destination.

COSCO reported USD 1.4 Bln Loss

Chinese Shanghai-based shipping line COSCO has announced CNY 9.9 billion (USD 1.4 billion) as an annual loss for 2016. Hence company offered not to distribute any dividends this year. Income decrease was associated with company's reorganization, weak market situation and cheap container shipping freight rates this year. Company's profit reached CNY 71.2 billion. In 2017, the market situation is expected to be improved due to possible growth in container sector. Starting from April 1, COSCO shipping will launch the alliance with Hong-Kong-based OOCL, French shipping company CMA CGM and Taiwanese Evergreen Line. Ocean alliance is planning to call into around 350 container ships of 3.5 mln TEUs estimated. Presently, COSCO is using 312 container vessels

Frequently Asked Questions About Shipping

How can I find out the shipping price for the car?
You can use our shipping calculator to get the idea how much the shipping is going to cost. However, the shipping calculator will only give you a rough estimate, because shipping price depends on the size and weight of the vehicle. For exact quote please contact our shipping department at shipping@auctionexport.com.

Is the shipping calculator accurate?
No. The shipping calculator only provides an estimate. Please contact us at shipping@auctionexport.com to get the exact quote.

Can I use my own transportation company?
We suggest to check with our shipping rates first, because many cars have to be consolidated in A container in order to get cheaper rates, and our shipping company can provide consolidation services to many destination points in the world. However, you are free to use your own transportation company, but you will need to send us a copy of the Bill of Lading after the vehicle shipped from USA / Canada.

How do I know how far my car is from the exit port?
We have provided a detailed map of the USA on our shipping page Shipping. This should give you the idea on how much the transportation would be to any major exit port. Please note that exit ports are located in NY (New York), TX (Texas), FL (Florida), MD (Maryland), GA (Georgia).

Is my vehicle safe while being transported between the states?
Your car is fully insured while being transported between the states; however, if you would like your car to be insured while being transported from Port USA to port in your country, you will have to pay 1.5% from the price of the car for the insurance.

How can I check the status of my shipment?
We will be notifying you on your status through emails.

How will my cars be shipped?
Your cars will be shipped by “RORO” or “Container” shipping.

What is “RO RO” shipping?
“RORO” means that your car will be driven inside the ship. This method of shipment is available to various destinations and does not involve consolidation. Please refer to this link to find out more information on “RO RO” http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roll-on/roll-off

What is “Container” shipping?
“Container” shipping is the most popular way to ship a car. Basically, your car will be loaded inside 20 feet or 40 feet container, and the container will be sealed.

How many cars can be shipped in a 40 feet container?
Usually 40 feet container fits 3 mid size cars or SUVs, or 4 small cars, such as Honda Civic or Toyota Corolla

What is consolidation?
Consolidation is when you only have one car to ship but you do not want to pay for the whole 40 feet container. Our shipping company will consolidate your car to several of popular destinations. For example, if your car is consolidated with 2 other cars in a 40 feet container, you are ending up paying only 1/3 from the price of 40 feet container. If there is no consolidation to your port, we can ship a car in 20” dedicated container.

Which port is better for consolidation?
The most popular port is New Jersey. However, always check with our shipping department about consolidation to the given country at the time of purchase.

How long does it take to get my car?
Transit time is 45-60 days from time of purchase. But please note delays could occur due to weather conditions, slow traffic, snow bird season, among other situations that could cause delay.

How may I know if Auction Export provides shipping to my country?
You can check shipping calculator on our website to view all available destinations, and contact our Transportation department shipping@auctionexport.com to get more detailed information.
