Parenting is the most challenging and at the same time the most rewarding thing an adult can ever have.

Here are the five common bad phrases that most of us heard in the childhood. And as sad as it can be, we have repeated them to our own kids:

1. “I said so”
A lot of parents have said this at least once. Usually it refers to a teen’s or a child’s request to do something that parents disagree with. This answer is illogical. The phrase itself is domineering and can reinforce the weakness of the child. A teen or a child would think that their opinion never matters.

2. “Do as I told you”
It is another popular phrase you should never bark at your kid. It shows your hypocrisy and dominating – you probably forbid your kid some things you do yourself. And hypocrisy kills all the trust between you and your child. Of course there are so many things parents don’t want their kids to do: smoking, drinking alcohol etc., but this phrase is used on a wider range of issues.

3. “Be normal”
This phrase can kill the creativity of your kid as well as his or her ability to solve the problems. You should better teach your children to see beyond the barriers and think outside the box.

4. “It is like I speak to a brick wall”
Whenever you said such things, your child could misinterpret them alleging that you considered him/her dumb. Kids are sensitive and such kind of phrases can hurt them a lot.

5. “Stop crying or I’ll give you a reason to cry”
It seems to be the worst thing to say to a kid. This phrase is aggressive and threatening. These words mislead your kid to believe that his or her feelings and emotions don’t matter.

There are all kinds of situations that happen from time to time, but even if you think your kid is out of control – try to solve the problem without screams and violence.

So, keep your child happy and stop CHILD ABUSE grin grin
