I propose the scrapping of the boring first stanza of the National anthem and adoption of the more classic second stanza. Let’s compare them: Arise O compatriots, Nigeria’s call obey – Human will Oh God of creation, Direct our noble cause – Divine call To serve our fathers land; with love and strength and faith – Human strength Guide our leaders’ right; help our youth the truth to know – Total submission The Labors of our heroes past shall never be in vain – dwelling in the past In Love and honesty to grow, a living just and true – Look into the future To serve with heart and might – Great effort/struggle Great lofty heights attain – Effortless/Excellence One nation bound in freedom; Peace and Unity – Pure Lie To build a nation where peace and justice shall reign - Hopeful What do you think? 9 Likes 5 Shares |
