Don't say that again... Killing of twins was once a custom but it was wrong.... Just because our fathers practiced it does not mean its right for us too... This is a barbaric act ..... If those kids can talk won't they reject it....

You are making up bull crap so that you can give excuses to be a sellout. In any case this thread has been done on numerous occasions. I may close this one down after linking the other threads that discuss this exact same issue.

A lot of you kids are just plain silly! To call someone's culture cruel is stupidity of the highest order. If you don't agree with it or don't understand why it is done, just say so, do not call it wicked or inhumane for every culture has a origin and purpose. In Africa, do you know the meaning of parents? Do you know the importance of showing one's lineage or heritage? No you do not! Rather than you to do research and see why it is still being done today, you rush quickly to judgment and will forever be ignorant.

Thank you very much bro for the enlightening statement

Culture but when the person is old enough to give consent. You can't just start to dey harvest and cultivate on an innocent child's cheek.

Let him/her grow up and give consent, at least he/she is making the decision. undecided Otherwise, it's cruelty and abuse. C'est fini!

This is one bill that should be sponsored in NASS that will get applause. In the 21st century, we don't need this anymore.

Those your so called tattoos things have been in yoruba land for more than a century.
And what exactly r u saying? I know the yorubas have one of the worst methods of deforming their people's faces. A cute tattoo on the arm would have been better than, making somebody look like he just fought with a lion.

My first post of 2015.....happy new year!!!!!!!! May this be the year naija completes her ascension to the top.

Now, to address tribal marks.....this is grade A barbarism in the name of culture. How can we as a country go forward when we are still marking ppl to establish where they are from?
Who cares where you are from?
Do u have good character?
Are u an honest and true Nigerian?

I don't care if u are from the north south east or west.......

what are u bringing to the table homie??
Oh, u bringing ur tribal mark identifying where u from.......
Damn!

Your inferiority complex speaks for itself. The funny thing about people like you is, if Americans and British people begin using this tribal marks today, you will suddenly find it cool and begin imitating it blindly.

What do you have to say about the tattoos on Wizkid & Tonto Dike's body?.

Listen.
This wasn't actually a Yoruba culture thing but a way to mark and differentiate slaves belonging to certain kingdoms. The marks originated because of your masters (whiteman) contact with Africa. Unfortunately, it later evolved into the Yoruba culture and other African nations as a way of recognizing different clans. Hausa's or Fulani's or both do give marks as well.
