vanbonattel: No he was never a military man The army used him to get local support against Biafrans In fact the elders of his town told him that the war has nothing to do with the Ijaw nation that he shouldn't antagonize the Igbos. Unfortunately he refused. The guy had Ijaw nation at heart but failed to understand that not all Igbos supported Zik's mistake He fought for the creation of Rivers State but was shortchange by the enactment of 1969 petroleum act which took their resource control right making their struggle for Rivers State a waste of energy. 1 Like 1 Share |
