Pls Help On These Codes (With Pix) by nairacountry(m): 1:00pm On Jan 10, 2015 |
I did work on my exhaust when I travelled out of my base this past Yuletide. To my disappointment, my Honda V6 1998 model which had no issues before couldn't start! I scanned and it threw d ffg codes: *P1607- ECM/PCM internal circuit malfctn *P0108- Manifold Absolute Pressure / Barometric Pressure circuit High *P0117 & P0118- Engine Coolant Temp Sensor 1 circuit Low & High *P0123- Throttle/Pedal Position sensor/switch A circuit High *P0113- Intake Air Temp sensor 1 circuit high *P1498- EGR Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve Position sensor circuit high voltage. After much efforts by some mechs, an auto electrician (re-wire) did earth one of d 2 wires on d temperature sensor (pix attached) & unplug one of d 02sensors on d exhaust b4 d car could start. I drove d car within Ibadan town for 3days before I embarked on d journey back to my base; Abuja. The journey was smooth as there were no issues wit d car. D few issues I detected were dat: 1. D car idle was poor for d 1st 1/2mins in d morning (d rpm wont rise atall in d first 10secs then rise above 1 b4 gradually coming to .4 withing d first 1/2mins) 2. It's fuel consumption noticeably rises 3. D rpm reaches btw 4/5 b4 changing gear from 1 to 2.AUTO Transmission. Pls any help on wat I can do to make my car function as it used to. 1 Like |

Prepare for anoda ECU. Who did that wiring job for you am seeing in the picture. Just prepare enough money because more Acradabada has been done. am very sure you have black suite coming out of your exhaust |

nairacountry: Solely for sake of the above code, you should replace your ECM and all other things shall be automatically taken care of. |

My oga Gazzuzz tans for ur usual prompt response. Pls how much wil d braibox be 98 v6 babyboy n do u know any good mech dat can do a thorough job 4me in abuja? Zimdrill sir, yes i suspected d panel guy didnt remove d ba3 heads while welding d exhaust (i wasnt there) n im sure d mechs removed one/two sensors while d ignitions is ON(i was there) I cleared d code couple of times but d checklight wil come on back within seconds. Mayor2013 lol. Honestly it was d abracadabra (d wire work and removal of 1 of d two 02 sensor) dat stopped d black smoke n make d car drive even from d panel biter shop. Beside d sluggish gear selection, early morning rpm malfunctioning cum d increase in fuel consumption, u wont know d car isnt ok. Tanx decotech, will replacing d ecu/bbox solve all or atleast 95perc of d wahala? Will d car be able tofunctions as it was b4 d codes came up? |

Wao! I rescaned just now,it shows just 2codes as against 7/8 it had been b4 now 1. P1607 ECM/PCM internal circuit malfunctn 2. Engine coolant temp sensor 1 circuit high @ my boss Zimdrills. @ boss Dec0tech, any help on getting original BBox of d said car in abuja n goog tech to fix? |
Re: Pls Help On These Codes (With Pix) by GAZZUZZ(m): 8:11pm On Jan 11, 2015 |
nairacountry: Have your ecm opened. I'm sure there's a partial contact or a broken circuit. Its possibly a fixable problem also possible water got into the ecm. When you are done remove that wire that is grounded and connect properly an re-test. |
Re: Pls Help On These Codes (With Pix) by ZIMDRILL(m): 8:49pm On Jan 11, 2015 |
nairacountry: it looks like the ECM was damage due to the d.i.y of the engine temp sensor being rewired most likely 12volts was directed back to ECM through one of the wires of the engine temp sensor i cant remember a faulty engine temp sensor causing a car not to start |
Re: Pls Help On These Codes (With Pix) by GAZZUZZ(m): 9:10pm On Jan 11, 2015 |
ZIMDRILL: Cold start would be almost impossible in most cars. |
Re: Pls Help On These Codes (With Pix) by ZIMDRILL(m): 9:23pm On Jan 11, 2015 |
GAZZUZZ: Yap thats true hence my suspicion on the engine temp sensor, 12 volts was connected to it and it went straight to the ECM, in the process the sensor got damaged and so was the ECM and now both are being recording as being faulty |
Re: Pls Help On These Codes (With Pix) by GAZZUZZ(m): 10:16pm On Jan 11, 2015 |
ZIMDRILL: OP remove the ground wire connected to the temp sensor, connect normaly clear codes and re- scan car, who can know the 12v(-) might be causing the ecm code. |
Re: Pls Help On These Codes (With Pix) by ZIMDRILL(m): 10:45pm On Jan 11, 2015 |
GAZZUZZ: i never know most temp sensors i know either use the engine body as the negative and only one wire from wiring harnes to connect to the sensor or it has wires that come from the wiring harnes have never came across a one that you have to physically connect the earth wire (negative/ -12v) check the photos

ZIMDRILL: The car wld actually start but giving rising and falling RPM. also misfiring until d ground wire was done. One of d 02 sensors was disconnected from d exhaust b4 d car could fire ok wit no black smoke. GAZZUZZ:Ok sir. I wil try if i can do this morrow. Thanks sososo much sirs |
Re: Pls Help On These Codes (With Pix) by nairacountry(m): 11:13pm On Jan 11, 2015 |
ZIMDRILL: This has 2 wires. Itwas one of d wires cut and joined d yellow one u see in my pix as elongation. The tech guy talk about d sensor '.....was/wasnt returning' so d grounding of d wire |
Re: Pls Help On These Codes (With Pix) by ZIMDRILL(m): 11:14pm On Jan 11, 2015 |
nairacountry: a faulty MAP SENSOR would cause that hence you had the code P0108- Manifold Absolute Pressure / Barometric Pressure circuit High |

Re: Pls Help On These Codes (With Pix) by GAZZUZZ(m): 6:47am On Jan 12, 2015 |
nairacountry: This is what happened to your car. House please pay attention to what I'm about I write so you don't fall prey to ecm killing panel beaters. Oxygen sensor This device has 4wires one is ground(-) the other is 12+, and 2 other wires that. Run straight to the ecm. As you know an oxygen sensor generates its own voltage when it gets hot and this provides the signals the ecu uses to determine if the car is running rich (higher voltage signal) or lean (lower voltage signal) when you panel beater removed your exhaust, he possibly forgot to un plug your O2 sensor and with when the exhaust dropped the sockets all came out looking like this Now your sensor has 4wires 2 are coloured black, one white and the other blue, your panelbeater actually just guessed (mini mini miny moe) and re-inserted the pins back randomly which was wrong. In doing so, a signal wire from ecm which is supposed to send 0-0.9v to ecm started receiving a 12v signal. That is why, when your o2 sensor socket was removed, car started functioning again but the damage was already done. Solution. Identify the o2 sensor that has the pins in the wrong order and place pins in proper order. Return all wiring to factory specification Then replace engine ecm (it is surely fried) RIP ecm. Avoid kazeem and if you must, be like me follow him under the car for each step. 1 Like 2 Shares |
