Ekiti State Government Denies Compelling Workers To Attend Jonathan’s Rally by HzRF(m): 7:03pm On Jan 12, 2015 |
The Ekiti state government has denied media reports that the state was compelling Civil servants in the state to attend the Tuesday rally of President Goodluck Jonathan holding in the state. A report earlier by some online newspaper quoted a circular issued by the state governor, Ayo Fayose, directing all civil servants in the state to attend the rally or forfeit the January salaries. The said circular reads; “Attendance is compulsory and those who absent themselves do so at their own risk. A register is being opened at the entrance of the venue for workers to record their presence. ”Those who fail to turn up should be prepared to forfeit their January salary.” However, the Special Assistant to the governor on Public Affairs/ New Media, Lere Olayinka in a swift reaction told DAILY POST that it shows how unintelligent those who concocted the news are. In what appeared like some rhetorical questions for obvious emphasis, Olayinka said, ‘’Does that include the market women too? What about the Okadas, and other businessmen in the state who are not civil servants? How are we going to know who attends a rally and who does not among thousands of people? Does it mean that the secretary to the Governor would leave the office to take an attendance in a political rally? ‘’ Ridiculing further the rumour peddler, he said the statement can only come from a demented mind, whose case has graduated from psychology to socio-psychosis.’’ Lenre, denying further said he works with over 300 workers in the state and that if there was any of such circular, ’’ I should have seen it.’’ ‘’So any report on that is a lie. Unfortunately for them, by the time such a thing gets published, they are even helping to get the government workers to come out for the rally. They think the way they treated workers is the way we are treating workers here. Buttressing further, the Special Assistant asked our reporter to demand for the scanned copy of the circular to verify the authenticity of the report. http://dailypost.ng/2015/01/12/ekiti-state-government-denies-compelling-workers-attend-jonathans-rally/ |
