Hey, where is everybody?

climbs d stage,
no crowd,
just me,
d stage,
and d mic,

nowadays i seems more of a fighter,
even though i would rather b a lover,
i try to always win,
forgettin i can't always win
i throw punches more than kissing,
and people now know me more for dissing
but its not like am dat bad,
. . . . well, ok, i admit, am bad,
but well, just wanted to have tins my way,
u know, say my say,
b da best,
stand out from da rest,
but made more enemies than friends,
now they must think am a fiend.
now, i guess i can't always b good,
and i should try to maintain my cool,
u know,
turn d other cheek ,
and try peace to seek.
well, would try to be better now,
no more playing an angry cow,
after all,
we all win to lose,
and lose to win.

drops d mic, walks away,
goes to d bar,
no bar man, no customer, no drink,
no nothing . . . . . . . .
lays on d counter, and tries to sleep

Epi walks through the crowd. Puts on her best smile and grabs mic from st. kris
. . . .she watch Cupped hands whispering into ears

I'm gonna change everything that holds a mem'ry of you
Move the chairs around take the window curtains down and burn 'em
Take the carpet off the floor throw it out the door it's filled with tears
Everything I find that bring you to my mind must disappear
Everything I see reminds me you were here
Yeah, I'm gonna change everything that holds a mem'ry of you

With a tear running down her cheek, humbly she walks off the stage with the grace of a Panther, smiling

Y'all should make an album.
I'll buy one.
Re: Open Mic Night by Epi: 6:22pm On Mar 29, 2009
The MC apologize on behalf of Kay for disturbing the peace

It’s hard but I’ll be alright
You thought I lost but I won the fight
Have you ever seen a cherry blossom tree in bloom?
That’s the way I am looking lying in my bedroom
No longer missing your tender lips, your warm embrace
I am a brand new girl with more style and grace

<picks up the mic & launches poem in a dilatory>

think and think about that night,
was it the chance to make it right?
now we set sail and take flight,
gliding oblivion like a shadowed kite,
distant clouds begin to blur the sight,
and i know tis' eternally my blight,
it could have been purview bright,
for i left the stage for sake of fright,
when i could'a held u so tight,
the chance to leave again to fight,
lost cuz dark has put out the light,
honesty demanded my every might,
instead i gave a but widows mite. . . .

The sweetest pain that gives a painless emotion,
angry passion that leaves an immediate attraction,
surrounded by a feeling that leaves a lasting impression,
like a treasured ornament,
guarded with desire,
but at the end of the night, controlled by the lips

I Won

The battle ground was set for you even in the womb
You arrived with a promise of a quick and painful defeat
Surrounded my myths of the dragon and its fire
What a welcome into the arena of needles
Two moons, Three months the gamblers predict
Just waiting to share words of comfort

My friend you fought the war like a stallion
Your courage greater than your stature
Many battles left the gamblers wondering how come
Like the biblical David you shocked the doubters
Your sword was Jehovah Rahpa
Never scared of going back home with the spoils

I was in Wogsalg when I heard you left
With a loud shout I screamed my God!!!
But I remember your philosophy about life
Remember those journeys we took to Arawk
So confident in my skills on the tar
Now I  can hear your confident voice whispering to me
Ore mi…, I am gone but I won!!!

                                                           Omo-Ekun ‘2010

Dedicated to my Dear Buddy who passed on after a battle with Sickle Cell Anemia
