The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Attahiru Jega, has assured Nigerians that its database is well fortified and cannot be hacked as alleged recently.

The INEC chairman made the assertion on Friday evening during a Town Hall meeting hosted by BBC Media Action’s “Talk Your Own radio” programme, held at Protea Hotel, Asokoro, Abuja.

Bulletin released by the commission on Saturday said that the INEC Chairman who answered various questions from participants said, “I can tell you from our own integrity test and from our own knowledge of the security features that we put in place, it is virtually impossible to hack into our system. It does not stop people from trying but we believe they will not succeed. Hacking is possible if your data is on line; our data is not online”.

When asked on the possibility of a staff compromising the data, Professor Jega was quoted to have replied that, “We have taken stringent measures to ensure our data cannot be compromised even by our staff, but if for any reason somebody succeeds in compromising our data, we can easily know who it is very easily. We have checks and balances.”

While admitting that there have been challenges in the production and distribution of Permanent Voter Cards, Jega was also said to have cleared the air on INEC’s preparedness to conduct the February polls due to such challenges.

Once again, APC has been vindicated.

Marilyn Ogar and her clueless DSS should bury their heads in shame for playing partisan politics by accusing APC of hacking into the database of INEC without any concrete evidence.

Sonny pictures thought their data base cannot be hacked, sahara reporters thought they were fully fortified, if some of the best security agencies in the world could have their data base hacked is it INEC that is immune. Point is no security is full proof, any determine person with the right resources can get access into INEC data base.

Thank you Prof Attahiru Jega. Your appointment as INEC boss is the only sensible appointment made by Jonathan. DSS spokeswoman Ogar is the most disgrace of a security official. She accused APC of trying to hack INEC's data because "APC membership registration has multiple registrants". One begin to wonder whether APC and INEC shared the same database. One begin to wonder whether the in-house matters of APC is now the problem of DSS. Very soon they will start arresting company heads for "overstaffing". Ogar and the entire DSS leadership are nothing but shame to the DSS, the country and common sense.

How can you hack data that is not online? If compromised inhouse, it is easy to track who did it. Can you hack a phone that is without sim and no internet of sort or any other chip?

What make you think the data is not online. Even a small establishment that have no branch outside the state it occupy still operate on LAN.
