The Commissioner of Police, Kwara State Command, Mr. Salihu Garba, has said 2,000 police officers would be deployed in strategic locations to provide security Presidential campaign rally of the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate, President Goodluck Jonathan, in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, on Monday.
Garba, who spoke through the command’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ajayi Okasanmi, in a telephone interview with our correspondent on Sunday, said the police and other security agencies in the state were ready to maintain law and order during Jonathan’s visit.
He stated that all the security agencies had been mapping out strategies for Jonathan’s successful campaign in thestate.
Garba said, “No fewer than 2,000 police officers will be deployed to ensure compliance to good conduct by the members of the public. We have been strategising even with other security agencies and we are committed to ensuring that Mr. President’s be hitch-free.”
Also, the Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Kwara State Command, Mr. Abdulkadir Olanrewaju, in a telephone interview with our correspondent, said the command had deployed no fewer than 1,500 of its personnel for Jonathan’s visit.
Meanwhile, the Leader of the All Progressives Congress in Kwara State, Senator Bukola Saraki, has said a Federal Government controlled by APC will make the security of life and property of all Nigerians a priority.
According to him, the PDP controlled Federal Government has failed to secure the lives and property of Nigerians.
Saraki spoke during the APC campaign rallies in Ilorin South Local Government Area of the state, covering Fufu, Tanke, Okaka and Balogun Fulani.
He said the violence in some northern part of the country, especially in the North-East had shown that the PDP lacked the capacity to guarantee the safety of Nigerians and their property.

Mr President recently feels so insecure in the midst of the masses. He knows the one time love & support he enjoyed have gone down the drain, hence the massive security everywhere he goes. Only God knows how many neighbouring Army barracks were emptied in order to host him in Maiduguri.
