A pipeline in Arepo area of Ogun State exploded today Sunday 1st Feb 2015 around 5:20am.

Eyewitnesses revealed the explosion occurred due to the action of of vandals who attacked Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) pipelines in order to siphon petroleum products.As a result of the explosion,there were clouds of smoke which covered the affected scene.

Confirming the news,Mr Ibrahim Farinloye,the spokesman of National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) said:

" The incident occurred around 5:20am and that fire fighting experts from the NNPC have been deployed to the area."

However,he did not disclose the number of victims affected by the explosion but said valves have been locked and supplies interrupted so to prevent the spread of fire outbreak in the area.
