I Don't Care About The Neighbors by ogborikoko: 4:27pm On Feb 01, 2015 |
Overheard in a shop: as a man bought a set of drums for his small son, the man's mother said, "That's not going to make your neighbours very happy!" The man replied,"I don't care about the neighbours, as long as my boy is happy." I daily observe the consequences of decisions made according to who is considered to be the most important people in the world. For some it's 'me, me, me', for others 'my own only' which includes close family and friends. Very rarely do we come across someone whose life is given for the good of all, as was the example of Jesus. Is our tendency to put people in order of importance something to try to overcome? Is it a trait necessary for healthy evolution? Is it at the root of all the world's troubles? Was the man right to put his son's pleasure before the discomfort of others? |
