stealing, embezzlement of puplic funds though a crime is not corruption it is a symptom that manifests in a corrupt system.
Corruption is a state of mind, it is the bankrupcy of moral uprightness, deligence, and dignity, that manifests on the Individual level in things such as two men sleeping together.
If you put a goat where yam is, it will
eat it. If you put people where money
is, they'll steal it, the task now is to stop putting people were they can easily steal money e.g by privatisation and using technology to monitor the system.

Corruption in the political sense is anything that involves the abuse of public office including the stealing of public funds.

Just because Jonathan is protecting his trademark - Corruption, does not mean you his supporters should also be dancing naked in the market.

FYI, when in comes to Public office holders Stealing money (which the part that concerns Jonathan now), Stealing at that capacity, is an example of Corruption. One of the ill-practices that make up Corruption.

But your president was trying too hard to make us believe that stealing is a bigger issue than corruption. Or what did he mean by saying people use corruption to conceal stealing?

You GEJites and GEJ himself are all confused.

Here is the meaning of Corruption: (Consider the bold and stop defending Jonathan's Stealing Habits).

cor·rup·tion
kəˈrəpSH(ə)n/

dishonest or fraudulent conduct by those in power, typically involving bribery.
"the journalist who wants to expose corruption in high places"

You people are attemping to teach the English english language, all because the president has comprehension issues. When Justice Mustapha said 90% of cases in Nigerian courts borders on "mere stealing" and not corruption, she is definitely refering to the thousands of theft cases in court that has nothing to do with corruption. Crimes such as car theft, burglary, armed robbery, phone theft, cash theft and other theft (stealing) case make up to more than 90% of cases pending at the courts. She definitely did not mean to imply that stealing of public funds by public officials like alams, Ibori, Cicilia Ibru is not corruption.

The main difference between corruption and "mere stealing" is that corruption (in termsof stealing) is systemic while stealing is not. A public official cannot just go into the agencies safe or bank account and steal public funds, it has to be a systemic stealing involving many people. In a wider context, corruption is a systemic disruption or a breakdown of a natural or normal process.

Where did you people get the notion that corruption is a state of mind? Corruption is real.

The goat and yam example is lame, childish and unintelligent. A goat can be trained to be put with yam and not eat it. In fact goats can be trained not to eat yam at all. Lions have been trained to live with goats without eating them.

Are you and Jonathan saying that humans should never handle money because of the temptation of stealing it? what of bankers, are you saying bankers should never be close to clients money? I honestly cannot unterstand a world where money would not be handled by others on trust.
