Very correct. NNPC offered GTs 1.6 per annum as basic so that is what he probably saw and assumed that was all. There is a feeding allowance that is 55k per day...that is also factored into the per month and is different from the upfront which is given beginning of the year.

@ eruditor, by 55k per day feeding allowance, do u actually mean #55000 per day for feeding?

If you earn dt much, I don't think you will be making a wise decision quiting for NNPC. Don't have an idea about their pay though.

Below is the post by @ Syenite in 2011

"Congrats to those that have received invitations. Over 4,000 candidates(can't remember the exact figure now) made it to the interview stage.

Firstly NNPC recruitment in based on quota system. Almost equal number of applicants will be taken from all the states and FCT. This implies that you are competing against people from your state. And this will in turn go down to LGA by LGA.So if you have a family member or a cousin in the race it means u are virtually fighting for one slot.
Under this system situations arises where a Candidate from State A with 50% score in the interview will be employed while a candidate from State B with 80% score might not be employed. So those of you from educationally developed states should brace up for the challenge.I am sure you know those states

What to equip yourself with:
When NNPC was established and under what decree
NNPC's Core Businesses
NNPC Subsidiaries and their operational functions
The Refineries and their various Refining capacities
Which of the NNPC subsidiaries u'll like to work with and why?
Why do you want to work with the NNPC.
Why do you want to work in the Oil industry
Why do you want to leave your former place of work(if you are already working)
Where do you hope to be in 10years time?
Understand your discipline and how you can apply it in the oil industry
Know the name of the current and immediate past GMD
Expect that you’ll be asked atleast one basic question about your discipline
Know where the head quarters of each of the Subsidiaries are located say Benin, Warri, Lagos etc.
Research the operations of the Subsidiaries so you’ll know which one you can fit in.(I am currently working with the subsidiary I mentioned during my interview so take your time to research, though it does not totally follow)

Look smart and composed. It’s usually a friendly interview and note that your line of discussion will mostly go in line with your responses so be sure of what to say. But please don’t be too confident else you’ll sound arrogant.

I’m speaking from experience. The above where questions asked me and some of my colleagues who I am working with now. So expect most of the questions to come from them.
Know that NNPC will not take everybody.
Best of God. I hope to meet you as colleagues soon."

For those that are yet to get the text message invite for the NNPC interview, I just sent an e-mail to them now (today, 20/2/2015) and I got a reply from them. If you have lost your e-mail address or phone number, it will be good for you to also read this.

This is what the message says:

Dear Candidate,

This is to acknowledge receipt of your email.

We will be contacting successful candidates in batches between February 18-21, 2015 by SMS. An email containing the details of the oral interviews will be sent by 24/02/15. You are advised to check your inbox/spam/junk boxes by the mentioned date.

NOTES:

(1) If you receive an SMS, please note that the interviews will hold in Abuja; you are advised to prepare for your logistics accordingly.

(2) If you no longer have access to the email address you provided during application, we advise that you send in the accurate email address immediately to
'nnpc-recruitment@phillipsconsulting.net'. Such email should have a subject line as follows: "Change of email address/GT" or "Change of email address/OP" or "Change of email address/EH" - whichever is appropriate for the job you applied for. Receipt of SMS will not guarantee entry into the interview venue.

Unsuccessful candidates will be reached appropriately afterwards.

We wish you the very best.

Good luck to you all. I attended, passed and got recruited in 2012.
Pls keep the CV you submitted when you applied for the test, it's likely most of the questions you will be asked will come from your cv.
Be smart, I mean wear a good suit and tie and confidently answer questions you are asked, even if you aren't sure of your self remain confident in your response.
The interview session is done in a pretty relaxed setting, win the panel over with a smile and try to prolong the discussion.
A huge fraction will be recruited without knowing anyone. Rely on your ability and preparedness.
Pray, yes pray only about 10% will make the final cut. Federal character will be used but that doesn't translate to all states having equal number. It's also based on the current demographic.

Important tip, thanks

There is no link between the survey and the SMS... I got the Survey link on 16th, didn't respond (in fact I didn't even link it to the NNPC recruitment) and I got the SMS on 18th, it was after then that I even remember the survey and responded.....

The survey might be linked to the recruitment (what better sample pool can one hope for than a pool of unemployed (if you are looking for another/better Job when employed, you are partially unemployed) Nigerian graduates?) but surely not linked with whether you get the SMS or not or even how you responded to the survey questions

It is funny how you guys can just term everything and try to read meanings to things. The Philips consulting Quality of life survey has no connection at all with the NNPC recruitment. This is not the first time Philips will be sending surveys of any kind. To also buttress my point, I got the first survey mail Feb 09, 15, got the same mail again Feb 16, 15. 5:58pm hours after I received the text message and till date I did not take the survey.
