Awka—CHAIRMAN of Ohaneze Ndigbo Elders Advisory Committee and first republic minister, Chief Mmabazulike Amechi, yesterday directed Igbo electorate to vote according to their individual choice because Ndigbo had no preferred presidential candidate for the March 28, 2015 general elections.

Addressing reporters at his Ukpor, Nnewi South Local Government area country home, Amechi, who is among Igbo elders challenging the adoption of President Goodluck Jonathan by Chief Enwo Igariwei–led Ohaneze Ndigbo, said the advice to Igbo voters was because the two leading presidential candidates, Jonathan of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and General Muhammadu Buhari of All Progressives Congress, APC, failed to reckon with the Igbo nation.

He said: “The caretaker committee of Ohaneze Ndigbo has issued an advice to Igbo voters everywhere to vote according to their individual conscience. This is because none of the two principle Presidential candidates has come to discuss the four cardinal issues so fundamental to the interest of Ndigbo. These are security for Ndigbo and their properties during and after the election particularly in the North; the callous neglect of Igbo territory since the end of the civil war; reparation for atrocities committed against Ndigbo over the years and during the civil war; and implementation of the recommendations of the Justice Oputa panel.

“Apart from the four cardinal issues, there are other vital aspects of government and governance which should have been discussed before Ndigbo would be committed wholesale into one basket of support for one candidate or other.

”As at this moment, the Presidency is headed by the South-South; the judiciary is headed by a Northerner; the two arms of the legislature are headed by Northerners; the Armed Forces and security agencies are headed by Northerners and non-Igbo. There is no Igbo in any of these arms of government in a federation that should reflect true federal character according to constitution. These are issues that ought to have been discussed with the presidential candidates.

It is okay, if they don't see anything worthwhile to endorse in the two options we have presently honestly many Nigerians share their views but whichever way the election will take place and a new leader will be elected or the incumbent will remain. Either way, we Nigerians should try as much as possible to keep ourselves safe during the election. Do not join the politicians in their war to get to power at all cost. This is an excerpt of my message that the mods deleted in another thread. It seems someone doesn't like the message in bold. I am posting on several links to get the attention of Nigerians to keep themselves safe. MODS I have not preached hate or violence but security consciousness please do not delete again

Before you join them in heating up the polity ensure you get a guarantee from them that they, their children, wives, friends who have benefited from them would be the first line of defense while we follow from a distance. If they are so passionate about this democracy and want to show their full commitment then they must lead by example starting from the battle field not the pages of newspaper, raising alarm to blackmail each other while riding on our own sentiments to cause tension and confusion. Since they love us so much then they must show it first by leading any protest that may occur as a result of any anomalies from the forthcoming election.

Jonathan might join APC tomorrow and he would be welcomed with pomp and pageantry and his in actions excused. Do not lose sleep or your life over them, they are only doing their jobs of lies, division, hatred and propaganda. Remember 3 million people died in the Civil war, there are no monuments to even recognise or appreciate the blood they sacrificed for Nigeria which unfortunately is still a country not a nation. The seams joining us are bursting at the hems due to the magnanimity and genourosity of our politician when preaching division and hate. Please protect your life. Do not promote or encourage violence, Nigerians will suffer most.

PDP seeking for endorsement like camel seeking for water in the desert. Endorsement or no endorsement. Nigerians are done with pdp with their corrupt evil minds.

Actually General Buhari has met with several stakeholders and discussed the neglect suffered by the Igbo nation.

This is common sense and should be the true Igbo position.
Its also in keeping in line with the historical Igbo Republican spirit of not kowtowing to any 'leaders' imposed idea. Let every Iboman be told to vote according to his conscience and conviction on the two candidates.
But for a group of expired, self centred group of Igbo men to come out to tell Ibo people to vote for a man who has not only failed the nation but has also severally scammed the Igbo nation and failed to deliver in any of the key areas germaine to the Ibos is the height of disrespect, deceit and self centeredness.
These thieves literally sleeping in Aso rock and shamelessly licking GEJ's ass and deceiving him on having Ibo votes in the the bag would be shocked with the expected adoption of the PVC,that would effectively checkmate their rigging plans and inflated votes;that buhari is widely liked and stands for principles that are cherished by true Ibo sons and daughters.
Imagine the likes of Iwuanyanwu,Ifeanyi Ubah,Andy Uba and Arthur Ezes claiming to speak for the Ibo people, men who have either never won an election in their wards or have not done so in any free and fair process .What insolence!!

Are they truly saying that the callous neglect of Igbo territory since the end of the civil war; is unchanged under the current government? So what explains the pro-gej hysteria we see on nairaland?

@doctokwus an admirable opinion. It truly irritated me when Cecilia Ibru and Ibori and Alams started trooping in and out of Aso Rock as if they were decent people. Our president should not be seen in the company of people facing criminal allegations or convicts, ex or not.
