The Nigerian Government has finally opened up on why it has refused to disclose the full findings of investigations into the alleged missing $20 billion oil money, several months after a forensic examination had been concluded by an independent firm.

The audit report by PriceWaterHouseCoopers on the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, accused of diverting the money, has been ready since September 2014, but the government has declined repeated demands to make the document public.

Amid pressure from the public and the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC, the government early February issued a “highlight” of the report, with a conclusion that the alleged missing $20 billion, exposed by a former Central Bank Governor, Lamido Sanusi, was a farce.

In an interview with the Financial Times of London, published Monday, Nigeria’s Petroleum Minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke, said the government could not publish the report ahead of elections as only the country’s Auditor General has the powers to do so.

Even more important, the minister said the government was not making the report public to avoid a “rabid opposition”- a reference to the APC – from finding “all sorts of minute detail [in the full report] to create concern”.

This is not enough reason not to publish the report except the criminal-in-chief has ordered the Auditor General no to do so. Meanwhile, Diezani should know that no matter how she runs, she and her cohorts will end up in jail.

Can we evoke the freedom of information Act?

Meanwhile, their action is a vote of no confidence on the Minister of Information, Reuben Abati, Doyin Okupe and Femi.

They are just collecting huge salaries, they cannot march their mates even after perusing the content of the report for more than two weeks. A competent PR person should be able to explain the contents to people.

I feel that 50% of his supporters would vote against him if the report is released and he knows.

This country is really fvcked up.. The system is just dead. Now they don't want to make this public, but if it's sensitive informations like security and how the Nigerian Army are going about there business and there plans they wouldn't hesitate to make it public just for applause. sincerely the people in government don't care about us everything they do is for there selfish interest, Possible reasons why Sanusi revealed the $20billion dollar saga was prolly because whatever it it he wanted then they didn't give him, then it's more like a revenge mission exposing them.
Selfish interest everywhere. As for those people Making noise PDP and ACN, Shey election day is coming and we would see what they have to offer after wards? No one really cares about any one. they not making it public and there's nothing anybody can do about it... Fvcked up system #coming from pained Nigerian#

that's the problem with this govt! .we don't need highlight/summary of the report, rather we need the full report and then we can make our own informed deduction
this one that the AG is saying nnpc should remit a minimum of 1.48billion dollars doesn't make any sense to us, if there's a minimum then what's the maximum?
in order to avoid all these ambiguities, give us the full report except you guys have something to hide

In this era of leaks, that Audit Report will find its way out into the hands of a journalist who will in turn publish it. Then the government will come out n say its a fake report and still refuse to show us the real one for us to compare.
