These are private universities and not government funded schools. Education should be one of the basic priorities of any government. If we could have more, then why not? I think this your post is misplaced.

Opening more universities does not make any sense to me rather it will continue to deplete the values our existing institutions have. Ask me why?
Because the newly established universities will be well funded well above their counterpart in the public universities.
Take a look at the happenings in the secondary education segment where private schools pouch competent hands from public schools and leave the mediocre in the public secondary schools.e.g compare queens college to lekki british high school.

Govt should stop granting licenses for cheap public commendations and look for a way to upgrade our public universities to world class

Private universities the world over are expensive and only the rich can attend, But the caveat is that they also have better facilities, better management and usually Offer more scholarships than private universities.
Nigeria in my Opinion is already saturated with Public universities all state under GEJ now have atleast one federal university and serious states also have their own state universities. Its time for more private universities.

Its a win win for Nigerian Youths, Both Public and private universities will now compete for student by offering better services, when there is competition among the universities the students will win.

Rich students who are occupying space in public universities will begin to migrate over to private uni. to be with their fellow rich students thereby freeing more admission space for poor students in the public universities.

Ogun State, The extension of Lagos state.
Ogun is not an extension of Lagos. A very huge percentage of people workin in Lagos live in Ogun. That means Ogun has really contributed immensely to the development of Lagos in terms of workforce and so also Lagos has impacted on Ogun State in terms of exposure. So, don't tag Ogun an extension of Lagos. They both complement each other.

Contrary to your opinion, More University will bring competition in the university education market, thereby making everyone to sit up in offering the best services in other to attract students. Both the public and private university will sit up and seek to do better if they want to still be a major player in the University education space and able to attract students.

Funny names and promoters.
Michael and Cecilia ibru university, so funny.

Though I'm a product of foremost private university but I think FG shouldn't abuse this by giving all tom n Jerry this prestigious license.

It will be abused soon that we can't even Remember names of private universities in Nigeria.

Ibru University would have been a gud name.

Stupidity at its best.New universities springing up everywhere while the existing ones with profound knowledge in training and research are left to rot away.

$400 mill is snuff to expand existing ones capacities and support researches to improve their status quo, besides payment of sound and seasoned lecturers.
