Stop cursing us with your GEJ slogan. I don't think you comprehend the reality of this situation.

Have you wondered why Angola, Algeria and other Africa oil producers are not on this list? Not even Libya with its war torn issues.

On a normal day Nigeria should be like Norway and Gulf states that have managed their earnings well during the high oil price, saved a lot of money and diversified their economy.

Because we squandered our earnings and did not invest enough in any meaningful economic diversification, we end up on a list like this.

Look at the other countries on this list.
Russia is under heavy sanctions and is waging a war in Ukraine.
Iran is under heavy sanctions and is propping up the Gov't of Bashar Assad in Syria.
Iraq is trying to recover from a major civil war then ISIS broke out and started another round of turmoil.
Venezuela is a heavily subsidized state and under western sanctions as well.

Nigeria is not under sanctions nor are we running any major socialist or subsidy program. Corruption and ineptitude especially by GEJ's govt got us here.
Our national loan burden is about $70Billion today with nothing to show for it.

God Almighty will bless your generation abundantly. I am very happy about this insightful write-up. He has PHD, lecturer are suffering, he built new schools and closed the existing ones for close to a year, masses are suffering and his Oil cabal are getting richer.

We need Change

grin Even Barcanista has stopped having fun on NL because he can't post intelligent analysis anymore. The FFK problem is a bad one. You stop reasoning right and start defending blatant lies, spreading misinformation. I don't know how their conscience functions through it all.

I've noticed that too. He now avoids threads of GMB giving stomach ache to the TANoids. The guy has sadly retrogressed as he cannot easily defend the indefensible without sounding illogical and intellectually blind.

The problem with being a GEJite is you must dumb down your brain to be able to support non-performance. Barcanista is an example of someone going through that phase now.

FireFire there is still room to clean up your act and start looking at things from the realistic lens of a progressive. Your analytical ability will shine through and be of use because you won't have to be perpetually distorting facts to make your man look good.

Good job OP. This is the type of informative threads we need.

It is sad that Nigeria remains the only OPEC nation not under sanctions from the West seriously affected by the oil price drop.

We were reckless and wasteful in handling the surplus and this will surely bring the economy to its knees.

It's very scary to imagine this current crop of looters direct our affairs for another four years.

Things must change.

Damn!! Oil exports make up 70% of Nigeria's budget income and 90% of its foreign reserve.

This is jaw-dropping!! That is we have a country of 170 million totally reliant on oil & even at that, the oil revenues aren't being properly accounted for by an uber-corrupt government of jonadaf*t the clueless.

I've never seen a country so useless!!

Nigeria's ability to whether the storm is never in doubt going by govt efforts in reducing unwarranted overhead. For instance, with over 62,000 ghost workers weeded from civil service payroll thereby saving over N400b in salary overhead and loopholes in fertilizer procurement effectively checkmated among others, the country will still be able to fulfil its financial obligations in the face of dwindling revenue. Aside this, Jonathan's administration has made commendable inroads in further diversifying the economy through massive investments in agric and agro-related revenue spinners. These and other fiscal measures will go a long way in mitigating any ensuing adverse effects of oil price fluctuations. In a nutshell, it's not all gloomy for Nigeria.

I'll give a clue here. If you know someone who is high in the food chain in CBN, ask them what happened to our foreign reserve recently, especially during the PDP convention. You will be told the truth.

Ask yourself, why haven't they been able to defend the naira? If you think it's because of the fall in oil prices, then i'm sorry for you.

You are such a stupid man if you thinks illiterate Buhari can save you or the economy.
Those fictitious figures idiots like you quote always as missing funds doesn't hold water. How much does Nigeria generate yearly?.
Then how can such amount be missing and yet Nigeria hasn't collapsed?. Think with your brain and stop using your anus and hyped
media propaganda to think and reason. Seems Buhari is determined to finish and destroy youths of this country. After using Quran and principles of 72 virgins and western education is a taboo to deceive and destroy some youths in north,he now turns back with the support of Tinubu to use the media and deceive gullible youths like you. Nigeria is in safe hands economically and every educated mind knows this. So spare us this evil and unrealistic sermon of an illiterate handling our economy better. Ask,GMB to simply define the subject economics or what budget is and his answers will show you were Nigeria is headed if he wins.

NEVER AGAIN !! shall an illiterate become president of Nigeria.

Many Nigerians are like the gold fish with only a few seconds memory span. We only remember the last few weeks before elections, and that is why politicians exploit our foolishness by doling out cash gifts, rice, etc. we in turn foolishly vote accordingly, for the highest bidder, forgetting where they were for the past three years.

What has GEJ been doing for the past 5 years? Our economy is in ruins, despite whatever propaganda the PDP govt tells us. We know better.

Even a few months back this man acted like we didn't matter, like we were nothing, going to tan rallies while we were bombed by terrorists, while the army complained of under equipment etc, not even addressing the issue of boko haram till it got too late.

Where are the jobs? Where is the electricity? A government that has failed in these two main sectors has failed in all. So what is it GEJ campaigners are saying?

Now few weeks to elections he starts pretending to act, while the gullible short memoried fools chant GEJ till 123. Do these praise singers even have jobs? These same people will come tomorrow and complain about phcn, joblessness, bad roads and corruption.

We were cheated by Abba Moro, yet nothing happened. Billions of dollars allegedly missing, nobody loses their jobs. And many more flagrant corrupt practices with impunity. This same man that grants pardon to convicted looters of state funds. Immediately this govt gets elected the impunity will be boundless, because then he will not need us anymore. All these white elephant projects will cease, and we will be left with nothing but the empty bags of rice he gave us and faded PDP T-shirts. Is this what we want?

Let's please look beyond these electioneering gimmicks and vote to show we are wiser.
Let's taste change, and if that doesn't work, we remove the "change", until we get it right and get what we deserve as good people.

if GEJ wins this election. I will do everything I can to leave this country with my entire family!.. Cos one thing is very sure. 10years from now, there'll be NO LIGHT!.. Too sure!

When your father was employed by chevron and he earns 2M per month, and he used it to fly around the world, buy cars, share with women, send you to expensive schools, live in expensive neighbourhood... he invested less than 100k per month on any opportunities that'll expand his income.

Now, your father is fired from chevron and employed by FO filling station, and he's getting paid 700k, yet he still has to pay high rent, and expensive schools, and he now has: 5 children from other women, and fleet of cars, 6 maids, and you expect what?....

This is the typical case of what is happening, Nigerians, una eye go clear after election!

We will survive never under estimate the die hard spirit of nigerians if we survived Abacha tryannical rule coupled with sanctions imposed on us then we can survive. We also survived the era of scarcity of essential commodity.

GEJ has already started diversifying the economy the agricultural and entertaing sector are booming. It is also necessary to cut down on luxurios spending by the government.Money can be saved by cutting down the jumbo pay of the legislators and selling some of the presidential jets.Aides should also be trimmed down

The governors should stop depending on federal allocations and oil money and concentarte more on generating their own funds

Meanwhile GEJ till 2019
