It is d responsibility of right thinking govt to prepair for this type of situation, simply bcs xtensive savin of national treasury can solve this in order to save d stability of domestic economy,

As Obasanjo & Yar'adua saved almost 50m dollars b4 GEJ fully handled d national affairs, had it been he continue to save xtensively during d period oil above $100 per barrel, Nig. might not b in this financial mess, and in order to save national treasury bcs of cost of managing stability of naira, that's why govt continue to devalue d currency at d expense of its populace.

However, it'll affect d prices of all imported goods in Nig., it'll affect private/govt workers & business men/women that taken loans frm banks bcs their loans interest wil b increasin as naira devalued, Commercial banks & other companies will suffer for it as well due to most of them took loan to run their businesses, as that could led to sacking of workers frm seriously affected companies.

It is responsibility of govt to strategise by placing internal fix price for oil as Nig. economy strongly depend on it, for example price of oil always up & down while d govt can fix it at $50 & if it above it in international market, which could b $70, 80, $100 & above should be saved simply of this type of situation the fall. u keep water in raining season against dry season, may God help Nigeria.

According to Niccolo Machaveli, if u want to knw that a leader is intelligent look at the people he sorrounded himself with.

Systematically, change is needed.

This is the truth on the economy , not the worthless statistics team gej keep throwing about.

my company has already gone through one round of downsizing.

Forget the dollar, gejs poor handling of boko harm destroyed the entire north east market.

Outside of the photo op, we are yet to see any real signs that Nissan manufacturing is on ground in nigeria.

It's gender discrimination and inappropriate anywhere.

Well, busybody why not help me affix it to my handle, since the load you are helping with is solely on your head now?
braine:
Then assign a gender on your profile. 'Sir' is the most appropriate for a genderless user in this section.

Everyone is talking as if oil has bottomed.

What if oil ever goes to $30/barrel?

The good thing is that everyone shall live with the decision he/she makes.

Sai Buhari or Sai GEJ on top one bag of rice? Ok. Person wey dey dash you rice no be father Christmas o! All expenses must be recouped.

I am not pro GEJ but if we have to be dispassionate, is it GEJ's fault that the price of oil has plummeted and continued heading south for an indeterminate period? Answer this question frankly. I always bow to superior argument, trust me.
Yes... What did he do with the Oil windfall of profits in years past? Why didn't he fortify other non-oil sectors by diversifying?

GEJ sold oil at the average highest prices ever, for the longest time ever in Nigeria's history. #FACT

The biggest drop ever in oil prices was in 2008 from $147.27-$33.5, yet the Naira never crashed this badly.

Even OBJ after all the stealing, grew our Reserves from $4b thereabout to $43b while paying debts (according to NOI). Yar'Adua grew it to $62b; with all the money made under GEJ, he depleted it to $31b, while incurring more debts.

NOI just annoys me, she get mind sha.

The painful part is, most Nigerians are either ignorant of the effects of the 'free-falling' Naira, or sentimentally/selfishly turn a blind eye . . .

The graphs below tell it all.

If our economy was diversified and maybe the refineries functioning again, the shock would have stabilized.1st of all what is your president doing with 10 jets and 1bn for feeding(correct me if I am wrong)Do you know that we experienced prosperity with $100 per barrel as against $38 per barrel of Obj's regime and now we are going back into debt. What of the unmonitored crude oil theft? The other day on channels madam world bank said she doesn't know the account our revenues go into. The summary of the whole mess is financial mismanagement and recklessness. Should I go on?

Bro, it's so bad that serious investors in a viable business venture I am spearheading are reluctant to drop money due to the uncertainty that has enveloped the entire economy. All because of one man's desperation to hang on to power by all means. JONATHAN, THERE IS GOD O!

Our dollar supply is tied by a very large proportion to proceeds if crude oil sales, which prices fell by half for more than 6 months now.

The shortened dollar supply has made it scarce hence the continued rise against the Naira.

Please what has GEJ got to do with Int'l crude oil prices?

It's unfortunate that pro-Buhari or anti-Jonathan comments immediately gather so much likes no matter how incorrect and misleading they sound, just so long as it denigrates the president in favour of Buhari.

Goes a long way to show the quality of composition of the government opposition.

We should be careful of what we wish for.

Your comment betrays an absolute lack of knowledge in macro economics..

GEJ's administration has taken the boldest step towards diversification than any other to the extent that our economy is less dependent on oil than it has ever been before.

Is it possible to completely diversify our economy to an extent that oil becomes a minor part of our income in just 4 years?
The answer is no. It is a gradual and continuous process.

All economies that are dependent on oil and gas are experiencing the same.

One like for your pathetic epistle.

Let me answer you. CAPITAL YES, when oil was $100 and something where is the surplus? What was done with it? Instead they went on spending spree with bullet proof cars, $20 billion missing and other just to mention a few, had it been he is wise wouldnt he have saved for the rainy day? Or develop other sector massively? He didnt, it was even on record that he borrow more than Obj when he was in office despite that there wasn't surplus in his era, Truth be Told GEJ FAILED, please lets try someone else, we are in deep shit oh.

I read just about every post on here most of which are filled with illusions and misinformation. There is more to the fall of Naira than mere currency devaluation. Every fiat currency is backed by 1) political power and 2)economic principle. You cannot talk about a currency without referring to the very legislature that govern their existence and circulation. Don't worry, after the election, things will go back to normal.

Yes, it is GEJ's fault. Why is everything faulty during his regime? The Babalawo Association of Nigeria (BAN) must have packaged some curses upon him, so nothing can work well during his reign grin
