They have different prices for different packages - they'll give you their leaflet.

I think they are in most if not all hospitals in the US

So In the spirit of giving back grin (honestly I don't know y this line makes me laugh)
I had my baby in Aug at St Francis hospital Wilmington Delaware.
Note: Delaware is a state.

Dr fee $1920 ( vag delivery..I'm not sure if it's same price for CS too) includes prenatal visits, delivery and postpartum check up( does not include lab test.).
Lab test $264 ( they accept all our naija tests too)
Ultrasounds scan cost $560 ( I didn't do it cos I did a scan just before I left naija)

Hospital bill was $3070 for mother and baby including pediatrician bill, hearing test and all. (I stayed only one day and got a refund of $1,663)

The money for lab test was taken out of the $5k

Pediatrician ( after discharge) cost $125 for first visit and $60 for subsequent visits.
Didn't use a pediatrician attached to the hospital.

In total I spent $5,254

Birth certificate takes 7-14 days. Mine was ready in 9days

Got the SSN in the mail in 3weeks

For the U.S. passport...parental consent form signed by any notary public is accepted.

passport agency in Philadelphia is about 1 hour drive from Delaware, cost $200 and you get it same day.

Expedited service if you use the post office cost $165 & takes two weeks but got mine in 9days.
Waiting to do naija passport.

There is also a Birthing center here "The Birth Place" costs $6000. I was actually eyeing the place at first because I wanted a water birth, but after strategic calculations....

Counting Down things now..singing "oh my home...." grin

@Xenadarl if you're still on this thread pls reply my Pm.

@abisdan,
Take Jotter & Pen, read up on houston & el paso & make notes that will guide you.

I won't advise you to go to maryland, not because your relative will turn beastly on you but the medical bills you will end up paying will negate any advantage staying with family will afford you...

@firsttymum already told you what the deal is, its a DIY venture.

@olokings @bbaby84 @firsttymum

You are all on point but no matter how we think about it, one would never ever think one's siblings & cousins will turn into strangers... Maybe the struggle to pay bills!,bills! Bills & more bills has done them strong thing...

But what do you do when you are expressly told not to buy any form or type of groceries whatsoever & have offered money thrown back at you in anger & asked "if you hadn't come you think we would be on the street"

I honestly believe most of these our families see Nigeria's prosperity & what could have been through us & just lash out unknowingly.

Sorry about your ordeal dear, even in your pregnant state,na wa o!
like Nefertitiram said in earlier post, stories like these make me keeping thanking God for my host and praying for her, she was my bestie in sec sch (now sister) I stayed with her for 4months in a one bedroom apartment, she left her bed for me all thru my stay and slept on the couch, she made me schedule all my docs appointments for 10/10:30am and drove me thru and fro b4 she left for work, whenever we went grocery shopping I insisted on paying half at least so as not to be living off her, though she refused sometimes, she cooked and stored food for me in her refrigerator, whenever she wasn't available, she got some1 to drive me shopping, though I did 90% of my shopping online( I did that in order not to stress her) she called me on her lunch break everyday she was at work just to be sure I was fine, we prayed together sometimes, when my hubby came she left her car for him for easy movement, I can go on and on,and to think she is still single and wasn't even jealous, when I was leaving, I was in tears cos she was just so good to me, I just kept praying for her, since I left in June, we talk almost everyday, staying with her made us closer, I just bless God for her,

Just like you, i also had a great time with my hosts. This is a family that consists of a grandma, son and grandchildren. I had never met them until i went to US to give birth. I was introduced to them by my brother's friend who happens to be the grandma's daughter. They made me feel home away from home. The hospital and the Dr i used were in another city that was like 1 hr drive from dre house. I was driven to n fro my Dr's appointment all through my 3 months stay with them. They never gave me attitude, whn i arrived their home, the uncle bought winter clothings for me and made me write a list of things i crave whenever they were going grocery shopping. When i had my baby, they organised a mini christening party for me(they r muslims while i am a xtian) and invited their friends that gave me loads of gifts and cash. I gave birth during the US tax refund thing and cos the uncle always change his children's wardrobe at this time, he also bought loads of clothes worth almost 1k dollars for my baby. He bought his carseat and even bought me too clothes. When i was coming back, i gave the grandma money but she rejected it and said she feels like i am paying her for hosting me. This is a woman that ll stay awake all night and cater for my baby while i sleep, she only wakes me when he needs to breastfeed. I lost my father while i was in the US and that whole family were there for me like they knew me from Adams. They needed to send some stuffs to naija which i was prepared to help them bring and pay for extra luggage but they followed me to the airport and didnt allow me pay, the uncle made the payment himself. I cant finishing saying all what i enjoyed. I just pray to God to help me to be able to repay this kindness to them. We have since become family friends and they keep telling me to bring my baby next year n spend time with them. I and my family speak with them regularly now. Sorry if i bore u with this heart pouring!

Just to share....got to the US yesterday.

Flew through air France. We had our fit to fly, but the airline did not ask both in Lagos or France. It was a breeze. Wife is 32 weeks gone.

POE was JFK. This is deliberate because we planned to avoid the more notorious entry points. Final destination is El Paso, but will catch our breath for a few days in NY. JFK was crazy when we arrived. The queue was incredibly long. Wife and I was on the queue for like 1hr 45 mins. I suggested we inform the immigration officers that wife was pregnant, so that we can get quick passage, but wife will not have anyone give her bump any attention. It was indeed a draining exercise, pushing from line to line.

Finally, we were alloted a Chinese looking cbp. He appeared eager to leave for the day, because I watched him beckoning that no other person be brought his way. We were to be his last for the day.

Cbp: can I have your passports. Are you family?
Me: handed over the passport and I said, yes, she is my wife
Cbp: how long are you here for?
Me: I will be staying a week, but she will stay for 7 weeks
Cbp: Says to wife, place your fingers here and takes her picture and then stamps her in till March
Cbp: says to me, place your fingers here and also takes my picture

A senior officer shows up, and asks the Cbp to please stay additional 30 minutes. I guess this gave him more time to scrutinize us.

Cbp: says to wife, 'you are pregnant, how far gone are you?'
Wife: 32 weeks
Cbp: when are you due?
Wife: November
Cbp: Are you having your baby here
Wife: yes
Cbp: says to me, 'did you inform the VO that you were escorting your wife down here to have a baby?'
Me: No. It was Dropbox, and I did not have to appear for an interview. I informed him that we have made all the plans and have all the documents to show, including the change of intent and the budget sheet.
Cbp: can I see some of the documents
Me: showed him change of intent, budget sheet and letter from Doctor esparati
Cbp: stamps me in till march, returns my passport to me, but held that of my wife and then says that wife will be taken for secondary inspection

There were a few people at the secondary inspection. About 4 people. The four were cleared in less than 10 minutes and we were the only one left. They had wife's already stamped passport and some documents. They started to review them, talking amongst themselves. Eventually, they called us.

Cbp: why do you want to have your baby here.
Me: it has been a difficult pregnancy, and want to avoid further complications back home
Cbp: how much money do you have
Me: about 14k dollars. Brought the cash out. Asked him to countgrin. He declined. I then overheard his colleague jocularly saying to him that 'they got you there, they are prepared'.
Cbp: goes in to ask superior officer. Does some typing and stamps wife's passport again till March. Interestingly, she has two 'admitted' stamp on her passport.

Learning: Be prepared. No document can be too much to have. Be confident. Be honest. You are within your right. Always remember!

@customise87, that's God's favour which am presently enjoying here in houston. It is not all relative's that are mean, it is just that some cannot tolerate others especially if they feel they are doing better then them. Bottom line jealousy. Am staying with my sister and her family, whom I saw last 15 years ago and it has been Wonderful. Her husband takes me to all my appointments and at times insisted on paying for them. They consider my baby their own, at times he goes shopping to prepare me special delicacy like rice and snail stew. They threw a surprise baby shower for me. My husband and daughter were also around for a while before going back to nija and everyone had a great time. since delivering my baby my sister bath for her. I can't say tell they've done but I am grateful to God for giving such a wonderful family, I pray God bless them and lift them to greater heights. May their children always find favour wherever they go. It just depend on how close you are to your family. My sister and I are very open to each other.

This is just like my story concerning my host they were just super nice. Infact they are God sent. Never know them from adams, they show me luv. I eat whatever I want to eat, take me for Dr appointment, lots of it. Did naming yesterday and they make arrangements for everthg. I also lost my dad while I was here, but they never let me fill lonely at all. I did not tell my husby I was in labour until I gave birth cos I was like being at home.

It's better to stay with a stranger than being with some family members. They will end up behaving as if they put rope on their neck before they accept your coming. If they can not host it'd better to say no that treating somebody's mother like a baby. I beg I no fit shout, na port go be the option in such situation.

Happy to join this forum. I am hoping to give birth in U.S.A (North Carolina or Houston). I got West Houston Birth Centre @ $4500 for everything for normal delivery. I am just worried cos I don't have any relation known to me yet in Houston. Although I have an Inlaw in Greensboro NC but she's yet to help get the cost at Women's Hospital. I need advice on this as I am due for delivery within 3rd week of January 2016 and I have to leave the country by 2week in December
