Fayose! The Governor with a patent for non-smelly poultry. For his exploits he would be awarded a Nobel Prize. 2 Likes 2 Shares |

WHAT A NATION!! N1.2 Billion to make chairs and Desks in classrooms? Are they making them for schools in the entire nation or just Ekiti state? And "my" people still praise them... You are not ready for progress when you support impunity like this. 1 Like |

stinggy: Sentiments apart this is a very, very good move for several reasons. First, someone mentioned salaries and I say this is better for the government than paying salaries because it doesn't have to go through a 30-day often unproductive cycle to dole out huge amounts for services. It can do so by contract, paying what it can, when it can. Secondly, all governments should take a cue from this to fight and at least halve the 'Julius Berger' syndrome which is as viscious and addictive as narcotics. We really need to generate local capacity and improve our peoples' competencies while accepting their shortcomings just like every parent to a child. That is how great nations were built. America, Russia, China have totally independent codes of engineering practice weaved around their cultures and circumstances. Why must all our bridges look 'german', now all our airports are looking distinctively chinese. The carpenters should build stuff they are comfortable with to a decent standard we MUST accept without eyeing 'foreign catalogues'. Finally and perhaps most importantly it places 'responsibility' back in the hands of the people who are the harshest critics of government. Now the ball is in the court of government. If the work done is shoddy, if there are cases of corruption or any other problems, it will not be a case of Fayose this or government that but that of, was it not your daddy who did this and your aunty who did that. This is the best outcome, shared responsibility. N.B: Before anyone thinks this is a political pitch in these tempestous times Fayose is not the first nor only governor to practice 'outsourcing', 'direct labour' or 'local content' to empower his people. A number of APC governed states have done so to date and very successfully too. 3 Likes |

THIS IS CERTAINLY A GREAT NEWS, IT IS UNFORTUNATE THAT WE ARE NOT CELEBRATING. THESE ARE THE SAME PEOPLE THAT WOULD HAVE DONE THE JOB IF THE CONTRACT HAVE BEEN AWARDED TO A CONTRACTOR. ENGAGING THEM DIRECTLY IS INDEED COMMENDABLE AND I MUST SAY THE MOST CHEERING NEWS YET OUT OF NIGERIA. 1 Like |

IVORY2009:It was true brother. In August, the University paid staff salary while the state government didn't pay. Same for September. So when October came they paid them too. Meanwhile the University purse is empty, they get No money inside. The two months paid to them then was now replaced with January and most likely febuary salary. |

Mynd44:I prefer people discussing wih facts and figures. Fayose, since he assumed office isn't owing civil servant. He even pays btw 22nd and 28th of the month, except February payment that spilled into March 2nd and he gave his reasons for that. The APC man, fayemi, left without paying 3months salaries to civil servants, and presently, fayose has paid atleast 1month to most of us,and two months areears to some out of the debts incurred by fayemi of APC.. Am not into politics, buh when we c the truth, let's say it;FAYOSE IS NOT OWING HIS CIVIL SERVANTS;and I can sat this coz I am a civil servant in ekiti state!!! Thank u. 9 Likes |

pak: How much is 1.2B in today's budgetary allocation? Not so much. I don't how much of it will be used actually but why I'm happy is that at least these artisans too will benefit from the government. It is not as if he is dolling money out, they would actually work for it, so that's also a good part. |
