Let's expand the voting process, people should be allowed to vote as long as their names are on the INEC register and are in possession of TVCs and PVCs.

Card readers are not for voting but only for accreditation. Even the link you pasted I doubt if you read talkless of understanding its content.
The basic reasons for the card is;
1. To authenticate that the PVC is genuine
2. It is a known fact that some people have multiple PVCs at different polling units and would intend to vote with all, this won't work again. Only one of the cards will eventually vote.

What's this noise about PVC sef and even during the training we were told that in the event where finger print cannot be read by the card reader but the PVC we authenticated so person should be allowed to vote and will fill a form on the spot. Finished! This would surely save time compared to manual checking.

Nobody is afraid of postponement. Genuine reasons have to be given before the elections can be postponed. We can't be talking about election postponement when elections are still 20 days away...The mock election held yesterday was used in testing the card readers, recording lapses and possible errors which should be corrected before March 28 so when I see some of you crying foul about how much less of a success the exercise was (60% success is encouraging), I just wonder if you guys understand what a mock election is or just feigning ignorance.

I hope Jega/INEC work on the lapses that were noted yesterday so all will be set for March 28.

Same thing. If the card readers can be programmed to reject cards from other polling units, it can also be programmed to reject cards from same units especially if the numbers to reject are pre-loaded into it.

Also remember that all the data are sent to inec database via gsm networks, so what stops a compromised dude even manipulating the data at the receiving end?

For those saying it is not to be used for voting, then you sincerely know nothing about rigging.

As a voter, you simply get accredited and wait or leave the PU until its voting time. You dont start asking how many people are accredited to vote or what number you are in the machine! It is the INEC staff that announces how many voters are accredited, and guess what, they read the number from the card reader + those who had some difficulties with accreditation.
It is the figure they say that the agents write down.
To rig the system, all they have to do is pre-load the machine with say 200 extra names, then add that to the physical 300 that came to vote to give a total of 500 voters. Those extra 300 ballots will then be added to the box by conniving Inec staff and security agents or even in some cases agents of the other parties that have been bought over.

And that way, the cookie crumbles!

Lets wait and see how it all works out anyway.
