This article is NOT in anyway condemning any government(student) neither is it showcasing the student government in bad light. All grieviances are to be taken as observations.



The politics of the student in one way or the other is considered a very dirty game. As our grown up politicians fight tooth and nail to retain their position, or cover up their misdoing,the government of the student is a replica.
A student that is priviledged to serve in the student government, is normally a CANDIDATE OF THE SCHOOL, OR OF THE STUDENTS. As with our national government,they all have fractions. THE EXAMPLE AM ABOUT TO GIVE IS EXTEMEL Y SENSITIVE, AND AS SUCH, FOR MY OFFLINE SAFETY & REPUTATION, I WOULD NEVER MENTION REAL NOUNS.

Recently, it was gathered that a FEDERAL UNIVERSITY is to have her SUG ELECTIONS TOMMOROW. Our source, who decided to remain unanimous said that normally, a candidate should come from a FACULTY. E.G SCHOOL OF HEALTH WOULD PROVIDE A CANDIDATE FOR POST OF SUG PRESIDENT, LIKEWISE OTHER FACULTIES. It happened that a faculty provided TWO PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES. It was believed that from the primaries, a candidate was dropped, but it was canceled(maybe because the person that seems to be well known, was the one dropped,its a theory though. Such irony). It was also gathered that even the DEAN OF FACULTY was called to resolve issues, but before his arrival, it all ended on a bad note.

It therefore holds that the FACULTY was divided into two. This is wrong, but sadly, its what is been portrayed in our STUDENT POLITICS,consequently, our NATIONAL POLITICS. On a normal note, a politics that should work, should have co-ordination and love. Hilary Clinton stepped down for PRESIDENT BARAK OBAMA. In as much as the common goal is for the betterment of the electorate,why struggle? If truly a candidate is looking for the oneness of the government, why not step down?.
The FACULTY is divided, with top FACULTY LEADERS SUPPORTING ASPIRANT A. Different campaign groups from the same FACULTY. Lets assume that the FACULTY was a COUNTRY. Two oppositions, INTO A COMPETITION, AND AN UNHEALTHY ONE AS SUCH. If eventually, opposition A wins, B would always do/look for errors. Opposition A would always do something irrelevant, thus GOING AGAINST THEIR MANIFESTO. What does this spell for the country? DOOOOOMMMMM!!!!!!.

I remember a well known university, with her LAWMAKERS EXCHANGING BLOWS OVER ANNUAL FINANCIAL REPORT. The same was what our lawmakers at ABUJA do. What then is the relationship between them both? Simple, it is the graduation of our student leaders to the NATIONAL LEADERS. These students are also CALLED THE LEADERS OF TOMORROW. What then is our FUTURE? A do or die politics? Or a FIST EXCHANGING POLITICS? Dear Nigeria, what exactly is the answer?
I personally was in a congress. The COMRADES challenged the president to present the financial statement. The president insisted that he knows nothing. The COMRADES said he should produce the FINANCIAL SECRETARY(who was absent). As time went on,the president was pestered and threatened, all amongst shouting and banging of tables, with veins raised, and salivas flinging off. Later, the FIN. SEC came in, which resulted into more accusations against MR PRESIDENT that HE CONNIVED WITH THE FIN. SEC & because the kitchen was too hot, he had to get out by calling the FIN SEC. The view was NOT DIFFERENT FROM THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY.

Is this how the Nigerian politics would go on? From the SUG to the FG? . It is imperative we correct the kankerworm that is eating deep into the fabrics of our nation. Our government should be done with co-operation,love and diligence. When our SUG is done coporately,the large student population would be able to hold our NATIONAL POLITICAL responsible, which is ONLY POSSIBLE, If we revolutionalize our STUDENT UNION GOVERNMENT.
