Be honest, scarcity is more due to cash flight by thieves who are afraid that a non-friendly negro may win the elections.

SHUT UP the dollar ROSE against EVERY currency on the planet, but it would soon come down because it hurts the American economy, making them get foreign goods cheaply but will pass through hell to export their goods eg Cars. So don't say what you do not know.
It was much better for you to shut up than to be shouting ignorance. After elections..... regardless of who wins .... you will see the true value of the Naira.

Am not surprised.

The simple fact is....we are experiencing the results of an import dependent, oil rich economy.

You know, what passes in this country for economic policy is a joke. We sell raw materials, share the money, and use our share to import goods....including things that we can comfortably produce in our country.(Like biscuits for example...can someone explain to me why we are importing biscuits when we have a biscuit industry here?).

Due to our import dependent economy (contrary to what GEJites will tell you...we still over-import)....we lose a lot of forex. That means that we do not have forex to keep our currency strong.

And now...oil prices have FALLEN. Meaning....a source of forex has gone with the wind....meaning....wait for it....possible devaluation of the naira to stop forex loss.

(Did i tell ya that CBN's flood the market with dollars policy will make things worse. Where are they going to get the dollars? That's right...from our currency reserve....which is currently being depleted.Which means there would be less dollars to prop up the sagging Naira...leading us back to 1989. Thanks a lot...PDP. Your time machine works brilliantly!).

The sad thing is that the only way to stop this is to become a manufacturing society...so that the forex stays in house...since we won't be buying too many imported things. But we won't. Nigerians and their leaders prefer chop rather than work.

More like cash flight by investors who are weary of an incumbent who would rather set the country on fire than respect his peoples choice and handover. Who on earth would stake his dollars on country where the President gives dollar handouts to ethnic successionist militants?

And the sad thing is that even if PDP goes on March 28th....APC has no idea to stop the rot. Unless Buhari announces that he is going to run a total austerity government....which so far he has not. Instead....he is saying he is going to run a welfarist government...which while it makes everyone happy....is bad news for our savings account/currency reserve.

Really....I don't care who wins this month. Whoever wins has to stop spending too much money. And we have to end corruption. And I doubt APC can do that....because your average Nigerian loves govt of chop.

Just let Nigeria today declare free gay practice and dollars will become surplus. God punish devil punish America. Nigeria shd be more focused on our internal resources and forget abt foreign madness. Its our politicians that will suffer since they are all almost importers and exporters. Nigeria which way!

Time for Nigerians to think and stop blaming the government always on global events esp those that affect economic situation and $/N exchange rates which the country can't influence and make it favourable presently. Scarcity of dollar will increase it's value against Naira and other weaker currencies and make importers to experience difficult times, with serious complaints as if government is no longer in control. THE BEST THING TO DO IS TO BEGIN THE PROCESS THAT WILL INCREASE THE VALUE OF NAIRA AND MAKE IT WHAT OTHER COUNTRIES WILL DEMAND FOR TO SETTLE PAYMENTS JUST LIKE DOLLARS.

TIME TO THINK LESS OF BUYING FROM OUTSIDE BUT TO ENCOURAGE AND PROMOTE HOME MADE GOODS AND GET THEM EXPORTED. HAD IT BEEN WE HAVE MUCH TO EXPORT AND LESS TO IMPORT MANY OF US COULD PROBABLY HAVE GREATER CHANCE OF BECOMING MILLIONAIRE WITHIN FEW MONTHS Dollar claims its abnormal high against other currencies.

You have no idea how the economy works!

Look....we are losing forex because

1.We overimport....which means FOREX leaves the country.

2.We are an oil dependent country....and thanks to the fall in oil price...which is happening largely because everyone now is producing oil...that there is a surplus....we no longer have enough money in the treasury.

Both of these lead to less money to prop up the dollar vs the naira.

Nothing to do with gays.

That is why Nigeria must get off oil. Oil is a curse.

The below link is to an article....which explains better...

http://nigeriaworld.com/articles/2004/aug/062.html

Excerpt...

The boom in the oil and non-traded goods sector increases the demand for imported goods. This may not be a problem in the short-term so long as the country has enough foreign exchange to pay for the imports. The depression in the non-oil export sector and the boom in the other two sectors have medium to long term implications for the economy because the oil windfall will not be permanent given the volatility, unpredictability and exhaustibility of crude oil. For instance, if there is a decline in oil prices and oil revenue, the lagging and collapsing non-oil export sector will not be able to compensate for the drop in oil revenue while domestic demand for the non-traded goods and imports remain sticky. Consequently, the country will be forced to borrow from the international financial market to compensate for the decline in oil revenue. Over time, external debts will increase and so will the debt service obligations. Even when oil prices go up later and there is another round of oil windfall, it is difficult to correct the earlier damage or distortions created by the initial or previous oil windfall. In some cases, the oil exporting country may be forced to adopt some form of structural adjustment program (SAP) to correct such distortions or imbalances. Some of these SAPs are painful and may increase the prevalence, depth and severity of poverty.

AND DOES NIGERIA PRODUCES ANY OF THE THREE THINGS ABOVE THAT FACILITATED UR INITIAL POST OR DOES SHE IMPORT THEM. SO TELL ME WHICH ONE OF THEM CAN YOU IMPORT PAYING WITH NAIRA?

Some nigerians are just showing the level of their ignorance.

When amaechi and atiku shared dollars all APC supporters shouted CHANGE! But when GEJ did his they say he is destroying the nation's economy.

Now a general issue of scarcity of dollar they are blaming GEJ.

Nigerians should be wise and for GEJ because he is far better than those who claim to be change agent while secretly drying up the fund in the states where they came from.
