Defection: More APC Governors, Deputies Set To Join PDP in the Coming Days by sosanova: 12:51am On Mar 24, 2015
Still smarting from the weekend defection of the Deputy Governor of Rivers State, Engr. Tele Ikuru, the national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, boasted yesterday, that following its nationwide consultations and discussions in the last couple of weeks, some governors and their deputies on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, would in the next few days return to the PDP.
This was stated in Abuja, by the Deputy National Chairman of the PDP, Prince Uche Secondus, who noted that towards the last days of campaigns, the APC would totally crumble.

According to Secondus, with the defection of Ikuru to the PDP, it has become clear that President Goodluck Jonathan has the vision to take Nigeria to the next level, which, he said the Presidential candidate of APC does not have.

Describing the defection of Ikuru as a welcome development, Secondus said that with the exit of the deputy governor and other candidates from the APC in Rivers, it has become obvious that Governor Rotimi Amaechi was not providing any governance and the people have lost confidence in Meanwhile, the PDP presidential campaign organisation yesterday called on other leaders of the APC to defect to the PDP just like Ikuru.

Meanwhile, the PDP presidential campaign organisation yesterday called on other leaders of the APC to defect to the PDP just like Ikuru.

This was contained in a statement by the PDP campaign’s director of media and publicity, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode.

“We encourage other key leaders of the APC to abandon the ranks of the doomed and to join the PDP. We urge them to see the light and retrace their steps in the same way that the deputy governor of Rivers State has done,” the statement read.

The PDP welcomed Ikuru back into its family, saying they are glad to hear about his return.

According to Fani, the defection of Ikuru at this critical time represents a deep and grievous spiritual wound to the APC.

“They are falling apart at the seams and they are crumbling. We agree with the deputy governor that the APC is a party of rebels and anarchists and they are a party of deceit. Others should emulate the deputy governor and take the path of honour by leaving the APC before it is too late.
With a governor like Rotimi Amaechi, we wonder why the deputy governor took so long to leave.  The stench of filth and corruption that emanated from Amaechi’s government must have been too much for his deputy governor to bear any longer,” he said.

Nigerians are known to always seek for greener pastures and this trait is evident in the politicians, who cannot remain loyal and faithful to one political party. It has been defection gallor for Nigerian politicians such that it does not really come as a surprise anymore. One would expect a politician to be able to remain loyal to his party till the end of his political career but it is not the case. Players are more loyal to football clubs than politicians are to their political parties.

The parties have been suffering heavy blows with their members cross carpeting. In the last five months, no fewer than 5,000 PDP members in Kaduna have decamped to the APC.

Last week, a total of 120 groups loyal to a former presidential aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Atiku Abubakar reportedly decamped to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Amaechi owe the ss a lot. He single handed caused the flow of avoidable agony for his people due to pride and arrogance. He choosed war in place of peace and flung the olive branch outside his house in exchange for a sword's homecoming. His people someday soon will become very bitter with him. Itz not too late yet to jettison the sword from his dormain and come back home to a forgiving welcom.

Not everything is power and money and self.
